Fire Extinguished At Duplex Home In Waukesha

One person was at home during the fire but was able to evacuate on his own and nobody was injured, authorities said.

WAUKESHA, WI β€” A two-family home in the 100 block of South James Street caught fire on Wednesday, but nobody was hurt, according to a news release from the Waukesha Fire Department.

Authorities were called out around 3 p.m. to a building with heavy fire showing from the front, but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and search the two homes for occupants, the news release said. The fire was brought under control and the building was searched within 10 minutes, the fire department said.

"The Waukesha Fire Department would like to remind our citizens of the importance of early notification to 911," the news release said. "Early notification combined with the quick response of the Waukesha Fire Department units today certainly prevented further damage to the involved home as well as preventing damage to the neighboring homes."
