Even before I was fluent in english, i already watched movies in english with the subtitles in portuguese, and only listened to songs in english, and because of that my vocabulary is hardwired for american english
I’ve travelled to many places all over the world, and english was essencial for me to comunicate not only with americans but people from other controles as well, so i know all the sorda you need travel abroad
