Peach & Lily's New Glass Skin Face Mist Gave Me Glowing Skin All Day

Following the success of its Glass Skin Refining Serum, the beloved skin-care brand, which counts Kourtney Kardashian and Bobby Berk as fans, has launched the Glass Skin Veil Mist. Allure has the exclusive details.

When you hear the words "glass skin," you immediately think of the Korean beauty trend that went viral a few years ago. Nowadays, it's seen as less of a novelty and more of an embraced skin-care goal that's been incorporated into many personal routines — including mine. The idea is that if you keep up with layering hydrating skin-care products, over time you'll achieve seemingly poreless, clear, and extra-smooth skin.

One of the skin-care products that have played a huge role in making glass skin more accessible is Peach & Lily's Glass Skin Refining Serum. Since its debut in July 2018, the serum has sold out more than 12 times and the brand says that one serum is sold every three minutes — no big deal. It's even a mainstay on the Allure readers' most-bought items list. But despite the serum's massive popularity and consumers' persistent requests, Peach & Lily has taken its time growing the Glass Skin family. Now it's finally ready to pull back the curtain on The Glass Skin Veil Mist, the brand's first-ever mist for healthy, dewy skin.

When we chatted over Zoom, Alicia Yoon, Peach & Lily founder and licensed aesthetician, stressed that glass skin isn't just about chasing glow, but about protecting your skin against environmental stressors, including blue light, UV rays, and pollution, which means replenishing it with hydrating and anti-inflammatory ingredients throughout the day.

Upon first glance, the ingredient list reads like that of a heavy-duty moisturizer. Cucumber water is the calming base ingredient which, Yoon, who has dealt with severe eczema in the past, says can be misted often without irritating your skin. Another star ingredient is reishi mushroom, which draws water from the environment to your skin, says Yoon. And its beta-glucans are "a type of natural sugar for moisturization and anti-inflammatory properties," cosmetic chemist Ginger King tells Allure.

The mist also comes loaded with antioxidant-rich peach extract, calming centella asiatica, brightening licorice and lotus root, and skin-barrier-fortifying ceramides and vitamin E. The prized ingredient, however, is a "plant-based silicone alternative" derived from burdock root, bamboo stem, and lotus root extracts for a bouncy finish without clogging pores, which silicones oftentimes do.

"These are water-soluble extracts to moisturize and brighten skin," King explains. I personally dislike silicones in beauty products (primers are a common example), and I can attest that this mist doesn't have that film-like, slippery finish typically associated with silicones. In other words, after applying, my skin still feels like skin.

Wearing the mist on my bare face (apart from lipstick).

I'm obsessed with this mist, which is surprising as I don't usually find them necessary in my day-to-day. I usually mist myself only when I could use a wake-up call, but I've found myself spritzing Glass Skin Veil Mist every few hours because it gives me instant gratification. My skin looks dewier as soon as I apply it and it stays that way for much longer than any other hydrating mist I've tried.

Yoon says the mist can be used at any step of your skin-care or makeup routine, so there are no rules. I tested it out a bunch of ways: on completely bare skin, as a pre-Zoom-call booster, after my double cleanse at night if my skin feels a bit tight, after my toner, and before makeup for a dewy primer-like effect and after for an overall glow amplifier. Spoiler alert: The mist is perfect for a major burst of hydration at any time of the day.

Texture-wise, it's a fine mist, but not so fine that you wonder if it's actually made it onto your skin. It doesn't have fragrance, which isn't a be-all, end-all element for me, but nonetheless appreciated, especially if I'm constantly applying it. And it comes in a 100-milliliter bottle, which is a larger size than most skin-care mists I've tried but remains travel-friendly (for when it's actually safe to travel again).

I don't see myself going back to my infrequent misting habits, especially when I get such an indisputable layer of glowiness from Glass Skin Veil. It's positioned next to my laptop, so it's always within reach for a midday refresher. It's a much-needed reminder that, as Yoon mentioned during our chat, skin care isn't just about daytime and nighttime routines, but consistent care and replenishment. So I'll be happily misting (and reapplying SPF) all day long.
