An excellent start ...
First of all let us get this out of the way: “How big are they.” My first picture should show one of them with six (6) each two (2) liter beverage bottles. That is big and that also weighs right at 30 pounds. That bag in the picture is mounted to my Travoy trailer. A more reasonable approach for rack-mounted bags is to lay two bottles side by side in the bottom of each bag (also alleviates some of the bowing problems). One will have lots of room left on top for other things. As much as I like these they do have a few problems:1) No way to keep things from bouncing out of the tops2) When loaded with heavy items the top bows out and the bottom bows in3) Needs second handle to carry as market bag4) Inconvenient steel hooks protruding when carrying as market bag5) Steel hooks are mounted close to middle of back exasperating the bowing problems6) Location of hooks can not be adjusted to fit bicycle rear rack7) The bags are designed to be fitted to a rack that has a flat vertical plane (mine did not)Thus I consider these to be more of a excellent starting point rather than a ready to use solution ….I have an Ebike with a rack-mount battery. The way my rack was designed there were tubes that bent around other tubes making for a very uneven mounting surface (ebike battery racks are notoriously for being poorly designed). The only way to resolve that problem was to cut away the offending bits of tubing. This is what I had to do to originally mount the Bushwhacker panniers with the standard mounting hooks. Today I finished reworking the Bushwhacker bags to resolve most of the other problems.I installed three (3) each quarter (1/4) inch inside diameter brass grommets along the top front of each bag so that I would have somewhere hook bungee cords. One might also make a second handle to hook into these grommets. My rear battery rack has two levels. With the stock hooks I had to mount the panniers to the lower rack. This interfered with inserting and removing the battery as well as being a MAJOR inconvenience. First I removed Bushwhacker's awful steel hooks. I decided to use a strip of three-quarter (3/4) inch wide fastening tape (the type with hooks on one side and loops on the other) at each rear corner and the middle of each bag. I doubled over six (6) inch long strips and put a quarter (1/4) inch brass grommet in the bottom of each strip. Then I drilled quarter (1/4) inch diameter holes through the fabric and ABS plastic that forms the rear of the bag about one (1) inch down from the top. I used quarter (1/4) inch SST carriage bolts to attach each strip. The square under the head of the carriage bolt seats into the the ABS plastic and keeps the bolt from turning. Those heads are also much smoother than the nutted bolt end that Bushwhacker had used. The three connection points close to the edges of the bags eliminates any bowing at the top of the panniers (and they are plenty strong).Lastly I also wanted to be able to use these panniers with my newly acquired Burly Travoy bicycle trailer. I straightened the Bushwhacker hooks. Then I marked another point symmetrical to the existing mounting holes. The end holes were drilled to quarter (1/4) inch diameter and the extra material cut from the end of each bar. An additional carriage bolt with two spacer washers was used to mount the bars below the outside hook-and-loop strips. A Travoy Tie Down Strap was routed under the mounting bars. That leaves the remaining problem of a support bar in the bottom rear of the bag to resist bowing. The optimum solution would be some sort of twelve (12) inch long tube that could be slipped over the ends of the quarter (1/4) inch diameter metal frame. Getting it slipped into place would be a major challenge. The weight of each bag (including the Travoy straps) is now 915 grams.

LOVE. Easy on and off. Secure. Sturdy. Can hold more weight than your bike would probably like. Fold flat and snap shut totally out of the way for riding and storage. No need to routinely remove and put back on unless you need to use your rear rack for another purpose. They hold a standard reusable sized grocery bag *filled to the brim*— way more groceries than you would put in each bag when putting in the back of your car because they won’t tumble out when you brake hard or slide around on a sharp turn... so I would say you could carry the equivalent of three brown grocery bags worth of groceries. Just make sure it’s not 3 bags worth of water or beverages that weigh a ton. The panniers can actually handle the weight. Just like I said your bike might not be happy if you did that regularly. They easily fit a fully stuffed high schoolers sized backpack. Deep. Even though sides are heavy nylon mesh and fabric, they are frames and reinforced with metal rods. Extremely lightweight. I have had no issues with the hardware used to secure to side of my rack. They do not “jump off” as some have mentioned here. They are very secure. But as we know all rear racks are not created equal and they have different overall dimensions depending upon which one fits your bike frame. My rack is sturdy with round tube shaped framing. They are 100 % secure on this type of rack. There are also literally only 3 directions to install. One of them tells you the easy fix if there is not enough tension in the bungee that pulls down to keep the clips secured. I don’t think these are design flaws. I imagine if they are popping off they just aren’t well fitted to your rack or bike or the bungee was not adjusted for a secure fit. It will be obvious if they aren’t secure before you ride with them if you understand that the bungee should be exerting enough tension from below the rack hooks to keep them *firmly* in place. There is no way they would jump off with the proper amount of tension. That said... I would honestly upgrade my rack for these if the diameter of the framing was the issue. These are so perfect for my needs that it would be worth it to me.
Love that they are not screwed on. Love that they fold completely flat. Love the depth. Love that they are open on top like wire baskets but without the pain of being “permanently” installed with screws. Love that they take 15 seconds to install and remove. Been using them almost daily for a couple of months to work and back and on all errands and haven’t had a single issue. I have definitely overloaded them as well. They can handle it even though I shouldn’t be doing that to my bike. Hope this helps.

These bags hit the right combination of functionality, simplicity, weight, size, and on-bike compactness when not being used. I was concerned about the hooks wearing on my black bike rack, so I wrapped the rack at the hook contact points with self-adhering silicon tape for protection and to stop any possible front/back slippage. Whether this would ever be a problem, I don't know for certain but now I cam confident that it won't be. (I'm just really into the pre-emptive ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure mindset.) The bungee cord to secure the bottom of the backs works very well. It's my preferred method of pannier bag attachment as the constant tension makes for a very secure attachment. I'm really pleased with these cargo bags. They are perfect for commuter bike runs to the grocery store. But for a gravel. road, or mountain bike? No. The practicality of these is limited to commuter/city bikes.

Some background - I purchased an electric Pedego Interceptor bicycle for my better half. Pedego's frame also serves as a bike rack, and does an awesome job of protecting the battery. The challenge is that tubing is so thick, that 99% of all panniers will not work because the pannier hooks won't fit over the frame tubing. So, I bought a Topeak Uni Super Tourist Fat Disc Frame Mounted Bicycle Rack to mount above the existing Pedego rack. There was some custom work involved, but it turned out great! This pannier fits perfectly on to the Topeak rear rack.

I needed a folding pannier that a standard backpack would fit into, to make it easier just to plop a backpack into the bike (instead of having to load the panniers everytime, then take all the stuff out afterwards). I did a lot of research, and there are very few folding-grocery panniers that have the width of the Bushwacker (Dimensions: 14" Length x 9" width x 10.25" height). Of those that are also this jumbo size, I read that most do not hold their shape very well when loaded up.

This Bushwacker is rock solid, having steel-reinforced tubing to hold it in place. It has a nice bungee-hook set-up to keep it secure, and is adjustable to increase tension.

Tips:
1) If you use a backpack in this pannier, use a good carabiner (we used the sturdy, easy-to-open-and close, Black Diamond Oval Caribiner) to help prevent the backpack from flying out when hitting bumps. Simply plop the backpack into the pannier, attach the carabiner to the top loop of the backpack, and then hook it on the cloth handle of the pannier. Another option would be to use a bungee cord through the backpack, and attach the bungee to the frame.

2) To help prevent theft of this nice pannier when the bicycle is parked, I attached a small cable to the handle (OnGuard Akita Seat Leash Cable - 53 cm x 5 mm), and locked the seat leash to another cable (used to lock the bike seat to the frame). Though it's a very thin seat leash cable, which could probably be snipped easily, it does help prevent someone without tools just walking off with it. Next, I used some heavy duty zip ties to attach the plastic clips (bottom / backside of pannier) to the Topeak rack. So, I don't take the pannier on & off the bike - I just leave it in place.

FYI - I only used one of these panniers (keeping the other as a backup). On the other side of the bike, I built a custom, locking, waterproof hardshell pannier out of a Pelican 1430 case. It's awesome, and it's great to store the heavy chain & u-lock, tools, extra tube, pump, lights, and extra batteries. I used the terrific latching mechanism from Arkel (10 inch length), and also used a seat leash and zip ties to secure it in place (I leave this pannier on the bike also). Happy riding!

I bought a pair of these panniers in Dec. 2016. They are large and sturdy enough to carry a full backpack on one side and a gym bag on the other. They have performed reliably over the years during my commute. Eventually, one of the snap straps that hold the pannier basket in the folded position when empty detached at the seam. No big deal, and I lived with it for a while. I vaguely remembered that Bushwhacker promised a lifetime warranty on this product, so I contacted them to see if they would cover this defect. Sure enough, within a few days and with no hassle, a replacement was in the mail. So hats off to Bushwhacker for standing behind their excellent product!

This product has carried dozens of grocery loads for me. Just shy of 24 litres of volume per bag (totaling 47.5l), it feels bigger than most baskets due to its generous 9" width.

It feels like it's built for life, strong metal support rods fold into the bag when closed, and secure buttons hold the bag folded for better aerodynamics on the trip to the store. Even folded closed, there's a little space to store a few small items, such as spare tubes or a multi tool.

One reviewer mentioned the tendency for these bags to fall off. I've experienced this once on my sister's panier with higher hook placements, and that was due to the fact that I hadn't properly increased the tension of the elastic strap by looping it under itself - once that was done, the bag stayed secure.

As expected with basket panniers, there's no rain proofing, although any pannier cover should solve that if you're so inclined, in my case my grocery trips are short enough that rain has never been an issue.

Also of note is that the basket's vertical clearance extends above the pannier rack, so you won't be able to use these with a top mounted basket unless it's very narrow. That said, the enormous carrying volume should cover most of the loads you'd ever need to carry on a bike.
