I bought the $5 Faberware Cheese slicer and it was a nightmare to use. The cheese slices were so thick and uneven that it made my block of cheese so crooked. The wire on it ended up being completely bent and it came off. My block is completely even, it is so easy to make thin slices. I love how you can adjust the thickness of slices and how there is an option to buy more of the wire. It's so easy to use and saves so much time.

I like this cheese slicer. The wire is fairly thin and cuts well, you can change the thickness of the slices by merely angling the handle, and I love that they added additional wires. The only thing I don’t love is the storage part. The fit is a little loose and the end bit sometimes ends up in the bottom of the dishwasher. To keep the extra wires from rusting in the wet cavity, I took them out and store them in the drawer. Other than that, I couldn’t be happier. The handle is sturdy as heck, it’s easy to clean and the way the wire is held had required no adjustment to keep it from overly flexing. I think if they made the gasket a little thicker for the handle end, this would indeed be the perfect cheese slicer.

I could tell this was a quality cheese slicer when it sliced through a block of extra sharp white cheddar with ease. Make sure you get the one that is adjustable for thickness. It is definitely worth a few more bucks for that feature. Don't pay any attention to the review that said they threw it away because it has a plastic handle. The only part on the handle that is plastic is the tip that conveniently holds the extra relacement cutting wires inside. Easy to clean too! This is an A+ product that should last for years. Highly recommended. My review is completely unbiased.

Finally a cheese slicer where he wire is strong, stays in place and easy to adjust. I have gone through I don't know how many slicers and they all failed. The drums corroded, the tightening mechanism failed, the wires bent when slicing anything other than some mythical "Medium soft/hard" cheese. None of those with this one. It is a pleasure to use.

Some reviews said they didn't receive the extra wires. The extra wires are inside the handle. Give a hard pull on the plastic piece on the end of the handle and it will come off and you can access the extra wires. One review complained that it was partly plastic. The only plastic part is the plug in the end of the handle that contains the extra wires. It has nothing to do with the strength or integrity of the slicer.

This cheese slicer works great, I’ve never really used one before and this guy works great. Just getting the hang of it ( only used a few times ) very happy with this and plan on using it more and more I usually grat my cheese for sandwiches but not any more
