The discussion began with a viral meme about things millennials have destroyed, including marriage, chain restaurants and top sheets, which lie between your body and doona to keep the cover cleaner for longer.
'People say millennials 'killed' chain restaurants, marriage and napkins. But WHEN will they acknowledge our greatest take-down yet?' the meme reads.
'Top sheets. I don't know a single millennial who uses one. Top sheets are archaic. This is just the truth.'
But the meme has drawn outraged responses since it was shared on social media, with dozens horrified by the idea of making a bed with only a single fitted sheet.

Many see the issue as a cultural debate, with Britons and other northern Europeans less inclined to use top sheets with quilts while Australians are more likely to due to the heat.
'[Top sheets] are worth it. It's better than having to struggle to get the doona out of the cover, wash it, then struggle again to get it back in,' one woman wrote.
Another agreed: 'I would rather wash a top sheet every week than a doona cover!'
A third said she 'wouldn't be without a top sheet' while a fourth said she uses them throughout the summer.
'I like the top sheets. It may be old fashioned but I like the feel of it and it's nice when you're too hot just to have the option,' she added.
Others said top sheets are the key to achieving the perfect temperature while you sleep.

'Top sheets are the comfortable difference to your sleeping as the room temperatures vary between too cool without the doona and too warm with the doona at night,' one woman said.
'Added bonus, sleeping with the sheet over your head as a mosquito buzzes around.'
However some admitted they have come around to the idea of sleeping without one.
'I have no top sheet and only a coverlet all year round which gets washed every time I do sheets and pillowcases. Ceiling fan in summer, no ceiling fan winter, but Coverlet all year round,' one woman wrote.
'Nope always get tangled in them, bottom fitted sheet, blanket then doona,' said a second.
