Stepping down: Campari boss Matteo Fantacchiotti had less than six months in the job

The boss of drinks giant Campari has stepped down after less than six months in the job.

In an unexpected announcement, the company said Matteo Fantacchiotti has resigned with immediate effect. The news sent Campari shares down 7.5 per cent on the stock market in Milan – taking losses this year to more than 30 per cent.

The Italian spirits group, where Hollywood actress Kate Hudson fronts its BitterSweet ad campaign, cited personal reasons for Fantacchiotti’s exit.

Fantacchiotti joined Campari in 2020, previously acting as managing director of its Asia Pacific division before taking over from long-term chief executive Bob Kunze-Concewitz in April this year.

He said: ‘It has been a privilege for me to be part of the Campari Group for almost five years and to lead this organisation.

‘I express the deepest gratitude to all stakeholders.’
