A New York City driver was taught an expensive lesson after firefighters took matters into their own hands to access a blocked fire hydrant.

A recent clip of the scene posted by FDNY Response Videos showed firefighters at the scene of monstrous blaze, with two of them breaking through the front windows of a gray Honda sedan to attach a hose to a hydrant.

The four-alarm fire broke out on 3045 3rd Avenue in the Bronx on June 20. The massive inferno consumed a Dunkin' Donuts, a fabric store, a Chinese restaurant, furniture store and a 99 cent store.

Public records revealed that this wasn't the first time the driver has blocked a fire hydrant before, among other violations.

The unidentified owner of the car owes $9,255.28 in fines dating back to 2023. In two years the driver has racked up 33 fire hydrant violations.

Video of the intense blaze shows a thick plume of dark smoke wafting in the air as multiple fire trucks arrive at the scene.

Firefighters start to approach the fire as some climb up on ladders to the roof of the building while others attach hoses to fire hydrants nearby.

As the flames grow larger and start to spread to nearby businesses, firefighters start to look for more hydrants to get water from.

As he starts to bash the window's glass, another firefighter clears all of the glass on the passenger window.

Once both windows are cleared, one of the firefighters quickly tosses away bags of trash sitting around the fire hydrant before helping his colleague grab the bright yellow hose.

Once the two of them unravel the hose, they start to pass it through the two broken windows of the illegally parked car.

A firefighter then attached the top of the hose to the fire hydrant as it quickly fills with water.

In New York City it is illegal to park within 15ft on either side of a fire hydrant as emergency crews need to be able to access them at all times.

The standard fine for parking too close to a fire hydrant in the Big Apple is around $115, along with the chance of the vehicle being towed, according to The Law Office of Craig Bondy.

Other than being fined or towed, the law office warned that drivers can also see their insurance rates skyrocket. Drivers with multiple parking violations can also face additional legal consequences.
