A Las Vegas mother and her sister sobbed in court as they were sentenced for the killings of two toddlers in a horror DUI crash that left one of the children decapitated.

Raenysa Washington's daughters Rose and Taylor, 2 and 3, were killed in 2022 when her sister Kaleah Manning, 27, lost control of a van while speeding and drunk.

On Thursday, prosecutors revealed the children were not wearing car seats because 25-year-old Washington, who was also in the van, had sold them just a week before their deaths, as reported by 8 News Now.

Manning and Washington's mother sobbed in court as she pleaded for mercy for her daughters, with a relative leading her out of the courtroom as she wailed.

Manning was sentenced to three-to-ten years in prison for the two deaths and Washington, who is currently pregnant, was sentenced to 364 days in jail and five years of probation for felony child abuse or neglect.

Washington asked to begin her sentence on Monday so she could spend the day with her son, who was born after her daughters' deaths, but judge Erika Mendoza ruled that she begin her sentence immediately.

'The problem is I’m not sure that all of these mistakes are things that could happen to a responsible parent,' Mendoza said.

The sisters must also pay a victims’ fund $10,000 that helped pay for the children’s funerals in addition to a mandatory $2,000 fine.

Manning's blood alcohol level after the crash was found to be 0.191, more than twice the legal limit in Nevada.
