Huge update in case of teacher, 24, who had sex with schoolboy in empty classroom then went on the run

A teacher who went on the run after having sex with a student inside a middle school classroom has agreed to plead guilty to the charges.

Caitlin Thao, 24, a substitute at St Paul City School in Minnesota, sexually assaulted a 17-year-old boy after school hours in an empty classroom.

She was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and a nationwide warrant was issued for her arrest by the Ramsey County District Court in May.

Thao agreed a plea deal this week where she will serve no more than six months in jail and register as a predatory offender, according to the Star Tribune.

The teenage victim told police on March 13 that he had sex with Thao in the classroom where she taught about six weeks earlier.

She resigned in late February and allegedly told a social worker at the Regions Hospital mental health unit where she was being treated.

Thao agreed to plead guilty in Ramsey County District Court this week and will serve up to six months in prison before she is put on probation.

She will also have to undergo a psychosexual examination and register as a predatory offender. Her sentencing is scheduled for September 10.

St Paul City School sent a letter to parents on May 10 explaining the alleged illicit sex was with a 17-year-old boy after school hours in an empty classroom.
