Nepo baby gun suspect Declyn 'Dex' Lauper 'dropped the name of his superstar mom Cyndi Lauper and her most famous song during his arrest'

The son of pop icon Cyndi Lauper allegedly name-dropped his famous mom during his arrest on gun charges.

Declyn 'Dex' Lauper, 28, is said to have mentioned the name of his superstar mother, and spoke about her most famous song 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' during his arrest.

The nepo baby gun suspect told cops about his superstar mother and her chart-topping hit as he was cuffed following a Harlem shooting incident, according to court documents obtained by the New York Post.

'I grew up, my mom is Cyndi Lauper, Girls Just Want to Have Fun,' Lauper allegedly told a detective.

The aspiring rapper appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court in a swanky white Versace shirt, where he pleaded not guilty to gun possession charges stemming from the February 7 incident.

He was caught with a loaded Glock .48 caliber handgun and drugs near where his 24-year-old pal had been shot in the leg by a gang of five gunmen.

'Mostly my head is in the right place, it's my music,' he apparently told cops after the bust. 'No, I was asking people to call my mom and call my life coach.'

'All I know is I look up and there's guns in everybody's face,' Lauper said. 'It's not really my first rodeo, coming from my family that I come from. And my mom and uncles and all that. So I was calm bro.'

He then boasted about his wealth, claiming to be wearing a $20,000 necklace and bragging about his dad paying for his injured friend's lawyer.

'I ain't going to lie for you, I paid for his lawyer, so he took that bullet for me,' said Lauper said, who avoided Rikers Island after his 'Law & Order' actor dad, David Thornton, bailed him out with $20,000 cash at his criminal arraignment.

This isn't Lauper's first brush with the law – he previously dodged jail time for stealing a Mercedes outside another rapper's memorial in 2022.

He was arrested after being in possession of a stolen 2014 Mercedes Benz while at a July 14, 2022 memorial service for an aspiring rapper named Ethan Reyes, who had been fatally stabbed days before.

Dex had been arrested as he sat in the idling vehicle double parked at the cross-section of 140th Street and Broadway, the New York Post reported.

Prosecutors in the case said that Dex told police officers when he was questioned about the vehicle: 'You probably know who I am.'

Dex entered a guilty plea to disorderly conduct with no jail time in connection with the incident.

As conditional to his plea deal, Dex was ordered by Manhattan Criminal Court to avoid any further trouble for a year's time; and perform a community service that stretched five days. He faced up to a year in custody if convicted, according to the outlet.

Following the October 2022 court hearing, Dex was seen smoking marijuana (which is legal in New York City) with friends as he boarded a SUV parked outside of the courthouse.

In an Instagram Stories post that day, Dex posted an image of a smoke-filled vehicle with the caption, 'Court.'

In April, he appeared in court on gun charges following the shooting in Harlem.

He walked into Manhattan Supreme Court alongside his girlfriend and entourage to face a hearing on two counts of criminal possession of a loaded firearm.

He wore a white Louis Vuitton shirt, light blue jeans and sunglasses inside the courtroom where Judge Marisol Martinez Alonso adjourned the case to May 15.

That came as he faced eviction from his luxury Manhattan apartment, after neighbors complained about loud music, late night screaming and marijuana odors.

His landlord filed an eviction petition to have the 26-year-old removed from his $7,200-a-month apartment.

Dex has been accused of violating lease rules in the apartment building in the Financial District since he moved in last October.
