Brazilian woman's birthday party invite goes viral for resembling funeral announcement
Tarjla Beleza nearly made her friends die of shock when they received an invitation for her upcoming birthday that resembled a funeral remembrance card.
The 31-year-old accountant from the northeastern Brazilian city Teresina was just looking to generate some excitement around her special date next month when the viral idea came to mind.
'It was a night when I was doing nothing, talking to a friend who didn't want to party this year,' Beleza told DailyMail.com. 'I had already seen similar models and decided to do it to see how my friends would react.'
Beleza browsed the internet for samples of cards that funeral parlors produce to hand out to guests at funeral viewings and created an invite for her August 17 birthday bash.
The card featured a blue background with a picture of her smiling with a flower on each side. Over her photo was the phrase 'Celebration of Life' and '2024' under it.

Below her photo, she added a dove on each side with a special message for her friends in Portuguese.
'Life is brief. We are all here to make the most of each day as if it were our last,' she wrote. 'And so I did, and I will continue to do. Passing by to invite you to celebrate my life on my thirty-second birthday of many to come.'
Beleza sent the invitation to her friends via text, and while the friend who was not in the celebratory mood broke out in laughter, her other gal pals feared the worse.
'At first they were scared, hahaha,' Beleza recalled. 'They were afraid that something had happened to me, that I had really died. Then they laughed at the invitation.'
For now, Beleza is not sure what the theme of her party will be.

'I'm saying that I want something very alive. But I'm waiting for some trolling from my friends regarding the party theme,' she said.
She's given thought to setting up candles and floral arrangements while each of her guests wear blouses with her photo on it.
Or she might settle for something that is a bit more subtle.
'But I believe it will really just be a barbecue, something very simple,' Beleza said.
