A-level results: Map reveals the areas that have achieved the best exam grades across the UK

See the full A-level results day 2024 statistics for England MailOnline's collection of tables, charts and maps.

Readers can view detailed results across England by subject, from 2008 to 2023, results by gender, a map of results by county and a table showing results by school and subject for last year.

A-level A* and A rate by county and subject: 2024

This map shows the percentage of pupils who earned the top A* or A grades at A-level in every county in England. You can chose a county by hovering over it or using the search bar.

The map's default view is for all subjects, but it can be filtered by individual subject.

A-level results by subject: 2008-24

This graph below shows the the percentage of pupils who got each grade in England from 2008 to 2024.

You can filter the results by subject, such as maths and English, to see how well students did.

A-level results by gender: 2008-24

The below line graph shows what percentage of pupils of each gender earned an A or above or a C or above from 2008 to 2024.

The dashed lines represent male A-level students and the solid line is female pupils.

The graph can be filtered by subject.

A-level A*-A rate by school type and subject in England, 2018-2024

The below line graph shows what percentage of pupils earned the top grades at each type of schools, such as independent schools, selective schools and academies – and how it has changed in the last few years.

You can click on the different school types in the legend to filter them in and out of the chart.

The graphic can also be filtered by subject.

A-level subject popularity, 2008-2024

The graph below shows how many entries there have been into each A-level subject from 2008 to 2024.

You can select up to five subjects at once to compare which ones are the most popular and how they have changed over time.
