An actor living in South Florida is facing extradition to Ireland over the rape of a 19-year-old au pair in a Dublin Airbnb.

Kevin Yungman, 31, was taken into custody by US Marshals on Monday after Irish authorities called for his arrest for the alleged rape in 2018, Local 10 reports.

Irish prosecutors claim he met a Brazilian au pair while on a trip to Paris in April 2018, and the two remained in contact - eventually planning a trip to visit her in Ireland, where she worked.

Yungman then allegedly raped the then 19 year old two times at an Airbnb in Dublin on June 4, 2018.

The victim reported the alleged rape to Irish authorities, who say she showed them a  WhatsApp message from Yungman stating that 'nothing like this will ever happen again,' according to Local 10.

Authorities subsequently arrested Yungman two days later, as he was attempting to board a flight.

He claimed in two separate police interviews that the sex was consensual, and he was later released.

But in February 2020, the Irish Director of Public Prosecutions directed that Yungman be charged with rape.

It is unclear why the director made the decision two years later.

If Yungman is now convicted of rape under Irish law, he could spend the rest of his life in prison, according to Local 10.
