Jeremy Clarkson finally WINS battle against local council after getting green light for new project at Diddly Squat Farm

Jeremy Clarkson has finally won a battle against his local council for a new project at Diddly Squat Farm.

New planning documents show the approval for the development of a bull pen on the sprawling property, to ensure the 'welfare of the main herd.'

The former Top Gear host, who  already owns a small herd of Beef Shorthorn cattle,  will add a small extension - 6m in width and 11.5m in height - to the end of one of his barns to house the bulls.

The application reasoned: 'The proposed extension is to provide a pen in order that the farm’s bull can be housed separate from the main herd to ensure welfare and avoid out-of-season calvings.'

Jeremy Clarkson has also erected a giant marquee in the grounds of his country pub so he can sell alcohol in it, MailOnline can reveal.

The mostly green marquee measures around 5,000 square feet and is located in the five-acre grounds of The Windmill pub in the Cotswolds which the TV star purchased for £1 million.

The tent has large fluorescent orange lettering on its roof, spelling out 'GT - Grand Tour' - the name of his soon-to-be-dissolved Amazon Prime motoring show and is clearly visible for many miles around the pristine Cotswolds countryside.

Clarkson, 64, applied to West Oxfordshire District Council on July 30 to make changes to his licensing permit, with a notice of his intention posted outside The Windmill, which is located in the village of Asthall, close to Burford, Oxfordshire.

It states that Clarkson wishes to 'update the floor plans to include a bar on the 1st floor, extend the licensable area outside the premises and include a temporarily (sic) tent in a fixed location.'

The notice adds: 'Any person wishing to object to this application must give notice in writing stating the nature of objection by 27/08/2024.'

It is not known if there have been any public objections but if Clarkson is given the go ahead after that date, then he will be free to start selling alcohol in the party tent.

A West Oxfordshire District Council spokesperson said: 'We have received an application to vary the Premise Licence at the Windmill Restaurant.

'It will follow the legal process for an application for this type which starts with a 28-day public consultation before the council determines the request in line with national guidelines, taking into account any feedback received.'

Building work is continuing at the pub which is located just ten miles from the former Top Gear host's Diddly Squat farm where he brews his own beer and cider.

MailOnline revealed that filming of his exploits as a country pub landlord is being regularly interrupted by giant military aircraft thundering overhead.

Cameras keep having to stop rolling at The Windmill pub as some of the world's biggest military transporters fly directly over on training exercises from Brize Norton, Britain's biggest RAF base, which is just 1.5 miles away to the south.

The constant military flyovers at the country inn have led locals to speculate that the star rushed into the £1m deal to buy it without realising just how close it is to Britain's biggest military aircraft.

Clarkson - who has already joked that he only discovered there is a dogging spot nearby after he bought the pub - was on site this week filming.

And MailOnline witnessed several attempts to shoot a segment for the new season of his Amazon Prime hit show Clarkson's Farm - which is expected to be largely based around the pub project - have to be abandoned because of aircraft noise.

Clarkson has been working flat out in recent weeks to get the Cotswolds pub up and running - and filming much of the process.

Frequently accompanied by his partner Lisa Hogan, he has been trailed by scores of cast and crew from Amazon's Clarkson's Farm which is currently filming its fourth series.

MailOnline revealed last month how Clarkson was so intent on securing a deal for the pub that he offered the owner almost £1 million for it within minutes of meeting her - and then paid an additional sum to terminate an existing lease for it.

Jackie Walker, 79, who opened the pub in 1983, hadn't even put the pub on the market - and was stunned to be told of Clarkson's interest which accelerated into a finalised deal within minutes of their meeting.

Clarkson bought the freehold to the pub, and it isn't tied to a brewery, so he can realise his dream of selling his own beer and produce from his farm at the venue.

He opened the pub for a trial run in order to show the Euros final which saw England take on Spain.

A video showed him pouring pints of his famous Hawkstone Lager, which is made using barely grown on his Diddly Squat farm, from behind the bar as the crowd enjoyed the football.

Despite early challenges finding staff and teething problems with a 'loft full of dead rats' and 'illegal' lavatories, Clarkson remains committed to getting the place back up and running promptly - writing that he still has a wedding reception to host 'in a couple of weeks' time'.

He also jokily wrote that after buying The Windmill he discovered that there was 'a famous dogging site in the area'

Clarkson has said he envisions a 'fun' and homely pub with bar billiards, darts and a garden - and a place he can go on a Sunday with his granddaughter for gammon, egg and chips.
