Internet divided as Kamala reveals secret guilty pleasure that got her through the 'shock and dismay' of 2016 election result

Her words may often come in salad form but when it comes to stress eating Kamala Harris prefers a very cheesy crunchy snack.

The vice president has left the internet divided after learning the Democratic presidential nominee's guilty pleasure is Nacho Cheese Doritos - a treat she said soothed her soul after what she labeled the 'shock and dismay' of the 2016 election.

In a fundraising email her team sent out on Friday night, Harris revealed she ate an entire bag of the flavored tortilla chips by herself that night.

'[Election night] was incredibly bittersweet. When I took the stage for my acceptance speech — to represent California in the Senate — I tore up my notes prepared to read and I just took the stage and said, "We will fight,"' she said.

'Then I went home and I sat on the couch with a family-sized bag of nacho Doritos. And I did not share one chip with anybody. ... And I just watched the TV in utter shock and dismay.'

She even revealed she didn't share any of the chips with her husband, Doug Emhoff

But more importantly, she told her fans: 'Two things are true eight years later: I still love Doritos and we still have not stopped fighting.'

For his part, Emhoff claimed in a 2019 tweet that he 'actually asked for a few' of his wife's chips the night Hillary Clinton lost the presidential race and 'she told me to get another bag.'

In a separate 2019 video, during a rapid fire round with an interviewer, she was asked what her guilty pleasure was and she excitedly to him it was Nacho Cheese Doritos.

'I love Doritos. I'm with Kamala,' one X user wrote.

'Doritos are my go-to snack when I don't have a lot of time. I felt a sense of normalcy when I saw the photo of Kamala eating them just like I do,' another wrote on the platform.

Another joked they had no problem with her chip choice, just the flavor, writing: 'The only thing wrong with the most recent Kamala scandal is that she chose nacho cheese over cool ranch.'

'On election night 2016, I ate a whole bag of those little powdered sugar donuts. Kamala is so relatable,' another wrote.

However, former The View cohost, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, didn't find Harris' response to the election results very appropriate for could-be US presidents.

'That’s the emotional response of the leader of the free world — to binge-eat a bag of Doritos?' she told Fox's Sean Hannity on Friday. 'That’s the commander-in-chief, potentially, that’s the emotional response of the leader of the free world is to binge-eat a bag of Doritos? Are you kidding me?'

She also said she'd feel uncomfortable if she saw Putin drowning his sorrows in a bag of Sour Patch Kids or Qasem Soleimani eating Funyuns.

'I doubt that’s the actual response of an elite leader,' she went on to say. 'Whether you agree with what they are leading or not.'

'They’re angry because Kamala is eating a bag of Doritos that the average American can’t afford to buy BECAUSE of Kamala’s economy,' Doug Billings wrote in response to Hesslebeck's comments.

'How quickly Republicans forget about Ronald Reagan and his Jellybeans,' Michael Cleere said on X.
