Clarkson's Farm fans are delighted as star Gerald Cooper appears at opening of his boss's new pub just two months after the 74-year-old declared he is now cancer-free

Clarkson's Farm fans were thrilled after seeing star of the show Gerald Cooper at the opening of Jeremy Clarkson's new pub.

Cooper, 74, attended the unveiling of The Farmer's Dog, which is located in the Cotswold village of Burford, just two months after declaring that he was cancer-free.

It is located on the same site where Clarkson, 64, bought a pub known as The Windmill for just under £1million two months ago.

Amid the fanfare of the pub's opening, fans were also ecstatic to see Gerald, who has become a cult figure throughout the series thanks to his thick West Country accent and on-screen charisma.

Sporting a red jumper underneath a black gilet, Gerald was seen to be in good spirits at the pub's opening, as he gave a thumbs-up while smiling to photographers.

It marks a timely return to health for the man who has proved to be so popular on the show since he first appeared on viewers' screens in 2021.

He was treated for prostate cancer and underwent surgery in 2023, which he successfully recovered from in June.

Releasing a social media post at the time to mark the good news, the Clarkson's Farm account said on X, formerly Twitter: 'A healthy and happy Gerald!', in a post accompanied by him smiling in a woolen jumper.

In the final episode of the most recent series, Cooper thanked those who on the show for their ongoing support amid his diagnosis.

He said at the time: 'I would like to thank everybody, all the film crew, and all my friends here.

'All of you have been so kind to me and my family and thank you very much.'

As well as selling beer from a brewery part owned by Clarkson, the new pub also had produce from Diddly Squat Farm on sale on its opening day.

Various chutneys, oils and souvenirs such as tea towels and soap were on offer.

A mobile kitchen called 'The Farmer's puppy' served burgers and other food had been set up alongside the green marquee.

Clarkson has insisted only British produce will be served at his pub.

The former Top Gear presenter previously clashed with the local council over planning issues for his Diddly Squat farm.

But he was full of praise for West Oxfordshire Council saying: 'Credit where credit is due.

'Our new pub opens tomorrow and this might sound odd but. I'd like to thank Oxfordshire County Council for all their help.

'We couldn't have done it so fast without you. They've been fantastic.'
