The pub is now advertising for a local chef de partie or sous-chef to join the team.

The ideal applicant for the £35,000-a-year role would be 'experienced at running a high volume site' as well as 'fast on their feet, smiley, unflappable and genuinely excited to be part of a new team', the job listing on Indeed reads.

But the chef must live locally as 'there is no accommodation available', and be ready to start this week.

In a video posted on the pub's official Instagram page, three kitchen staff members promoted the latest position.

Describing the new role, they said: 'We opened the pub yesterday and it was so successful. But we need some more staff.

'We are looking for a senior chef de partie or a sous chef to join our team. If it's you, please get in touch today and let's have a chat about that.'

Clarkson opened the doors to his latest venture at noon on Friday to a large crowd.

Pointing to an A-board outside the establishment he said: ''Pay attention to this. Every single thing you are going to consume in here was grown by British farmers, apart from the quinine and the tonic.'

Clarkson's new pub, set in a picturesque spot near the village of Burford, Oxfordshire where the former Top Gear presenter bought what was the Windmill pub for almost £1million just two months ago.

It features a stylish decor, complete with an eye-catching centrepiece - a tractor hanging from the ceiling.

Clarkson said becoming a publican was a step into the unknown and joked that his next venture might be to open a cinema.

While he said he hoped The Farmer's Dog would be a great success, he added that using exclusively British produce would mean much lower profit margins.

Citing an example, he said it would cost 0.74p to turn pork from his farm shop into a sausage to be sold at the pub, far more than the 0.18p it would cost using imported pig meat.
