Jude Bellingham has taken to social media after being ruled out for a month with a leg injury.

Early reports suggested the England international could be set to miss Real Madrid's clash with Real Valladolid on Sunday after picking up a knock in training.

However, the club later confirmed that Bellingham is suffering with plantar fasciitis in his right leg and now looks set to be out until late September.

A statement from the club read: 'Following tests carried out today (Friday) on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid’s medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg. His progress will be monitored.’

Speaking on the injury, the 21-year-old admitted he was frustrated but insisted he was trying to find positives in the situation.

'Nothing I hate more than missing games but trying to see the positive side and maybe my body is telling me it needs a bit more rest after a busy year,' he wrote on Instagram.

'I’m very frustrated but I’ll be supporting the lads like a fan until I can rejoin them again in my best and strongest form.

'Thanks for your messages of concern and support. Lots of love and Hala Madrid!'

Bellingham's comments were filled with messages of well-wishes and support from his Madrid team-mates.

Marquee arrival Kylian Mbappe wrote: 'My boy.' Vinicius Jr added: 'My Brother!! You will come back stronger!!!'

Brahim Diaz wrote 'Brother' while Luka Modric sent a raised hands and love heart emojis.

The setback means he will be unavailable for selection as England return to action after their Euro 2024 final heartbreak with Nations League clashes against the Republic of Ireland and Finland next month.

Those games mark the managerial debut for Lee Carsley since taking interim charge of the Three Lions in the wake of Gareth Southgate's departure.

The midfielder will be hopeful to return in time for the Madrid derby on September 29, that could see him come up against England team-mate Conor Gallagher after he completed a permanent move to Atletico from Chelsea earlier this week.
