Watch the shocking moment PGA Tour golf star Sam Burns SNAPS his club in half in furious on-course meltdown

An errant tee shot from Sam Burns in the third round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship led to a moment of rage from the golfer on Saturday afternoon.

Burns, ranked No. 33 in the world, watched as his tee shot on the ninth hole sailed 335 yards - but way to the left.

The golfer then did some more snapping of his own as he threw his driver to the ground in anger.

That led to the club head completely separating from the shaft - the latter of which went flying off.

Burns then picked up the head of his driver, flipped it to his caddie and continued on throughout the day down a club.

He would go on to shoot a double bogey on the 446-yard, par-four hole.

After pitching out sideways into the fairway, Burns' third shot sailed perilously over a pond and landed just barely in front of the green. Burns then duffed his chip on his fourth shot before rolling his second chip (fifth shot) within 13 inches of the hole.

To end his misery, he rolled in that putt for double bogey to conclude his front nine at a tournament score of ten-under.

He would finish the day at ten-under as well after carding three birdies and three bogeys on the back nine.

Currently, Burns sits tied with Scottie Scheffler in fourth place for the tournament ahead of Sunday's final round.

Burns is seven shots back of leader Hideki Matsuyama - who shot the best round of the day to finish six-under for the round and sits at 17-under for the tournament.

The FedEx St. Jude Championship is the first tournament in the FedEx Cup Playoffs - featuring a field of 70 players.

That will be trimmed down to 50 players for the next round at the BMW Championship - which takes place this year at Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado.
