Chris Jones offers to pay $1.5MILLION for CHICKEN WINGS to free an Illinois school worker from prison

Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones has offered to pay $1.5million for chicken wings to free an Illinois school worker from prison.

Jones does not appear to know Vera Lidell, who stole $1.5million in food from the Harvey School District in Dolton, Illinois, a Chicago suburb.

Most of that $1.5million in stolen food was chicken wings, with an extra 11,000 cases of chicken wings were ordered by Lidell.

The extra orders were allegedly placed between Oct. 2020 and Feb. 2022.

Local police believe Lidell acted alone in the chicken-wing scheme, with her pleading guilty to the food theft earlier this month to theft and operating a criminal enterprise charges, per ABC7.

Lidell, 66, has been sentenced to nine years in prison and worked for the school district for over a decade prior to her arrest.

'I’ll pay for the wings that she stole to get her free,' Jones said on X.

Lidell's job was to place food orders with Gordon Food Services, who supplies the district with meals.

Court documents described chicken wings as food no typically served to students because of the bones, per ABC7.

An audit uncovered the school district's food service department had gone over its annual budget by $300,000 with the year half over, leading to Lidell's arrest.

Jones signed a 5-year, $158.75million extension with the Chiefs back in March, with $95million guaranteed
