As Ryan Reynolds is upstaged by 'Britain's ugliest dog' Peggy, a look at the Hollywood stars who have shared the limelight with their furry co-stars on the red carpet

It's not everyday that some of Hollywood's biggest stars are upstaged on the red carpet.

Yet Ryan Reynolds experienced this on Thursday as he shared the limelight with 'Britain's ugliest dog' Peggy at the Deadpool & Wolverine film sneak peek in London.

The pug and Chinese Crested cross - who was voted as Britain's ugliest dog last year and is owned by Holly Middleton, from Leven, East Yorkshire - makes her film debut among A-Listers in the movie, and looked right at home on the red carpet as she strutted her stuff in front of the cameras.

Yet Peggy is not the only furry friend to steal the show at a glamorous red carpet event.

Now MailOnline takes a look at the A-list stars who have happily shared the limelight with their four-legged co-stars.

Glen Powell embraced the red in Los Angeles for the premiere of her new thriller sequel Twisters.

But while most expected all eyes to be on Glen and his co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, it was another cast member that stole the show - Glen's rescue dog Brisket.

As he posed with Daisy for the cameras, Glen looked every in the loving dog dad as he cuddled his fluffy brown and white Kokoni.

Brisket has a minor role in the new movie and Glen has been keeping his fans up to date with an array of sweet pictures showing the canine on set.

In the new film, Daisy stars as a Kate Cooper, a young woman traumatized by a tornado who is lured back when her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) shows her a new system to map the paths of the deadly storms.

But the two clash with Tyler Owens (Powell) a flashy storm chaser who risks his life to get close to tornadoes for lucrative social media content.

Claudia Schiffer is used to ruling a red carpet, but for the world premiere of her husband Matthew Vaughn's movie Argylle in January, it was her cat who stole the spotlight.

Supermodel Claudia arrived at the London Leicester Square premiere carrying her and Matthew's pet kitty, Chip, in a yellow backpack.

The Scottish Fold pussy could be seen peeking out of a window in the bag as Claudia posed up a storm in her glam dress.

Chip had a starring role in director Matthew's new big screen thriller, playing the pet of leading lady Bryce Dallas Howard's Elly Conway, 'the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie.'

The synopsis reads: 'When the plots of Elly's fictional books – which centre on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate – begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organisation, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.

'Accompanied by Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly's fictional world and her real one begins to blur.'

Lupita Nyong'o also shared the spotlight with her furry colleague as she posed with her co-star cat while attending a photocall for her latest film A Quiet Place: Day One.

The actress, 41, looked in good spirits as she cuddled Nico the feline while posing at the IET London: Savoy Place in May.

A Quiet Place: Day One is a sequel to the original film A Quiet Place and follows Lupita's character Sam who must survive an invasion in New York City by blood-thirsty alien creatures.

The cat she was holding during the photocall is not just a prop but a significant character in the film. The trailer revealed its crucial role in the story by showing her cradling it as she walks through the city.

Nico, who plays Frodo in the flick, is a Tuxedo feline who is primarily white with some patches of black fur.

An evening in May was supposed to be all about Léa Seydoux as her latest film, Anatomy of a Fall, was given the honour of opening the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival on the French Riviera.

But despite Léa pulling out all the stops for the glitzy evening, her spotlight had to be shared with her film star Messi.

Messi already starred in an Oscar-winning film and rubbed shoulders with the stars at awards ceremonies.

This Border Collie showed he was rather comfortable with his new lifestyle as he posed on the red carpet and became the first dog to tread the strip in the South of France .

Not dissimilar to his celebrity friends, he stood on two legs on the red carpet and appeared to wave to the crowd – using his paws.

Messi, eight, carried a selfie stick and camera between his teeth to film TikTok videos for the festival.

He rose to fame after playing Snoop, a guide dog, in the French murder mystery Anatomy of a Fall, which won Best Screenplay at this year's Oscars.

At the event, Messi was seen with his owner and cinema dog trainer, Laura Martin Contini, who wore a stylish light grey dress.

Justine Triet's murder mystery Anatomy of a Fall premiered last year in Cannes, winning the festival's top award, the Palme d'Or.

Messi won the Palm Dog, a journalist-created prize for the festival's top dog.

Tom Hardy was supposed to be the man of the moment when he attended the Legend premiere in London's Leicester Square in September 2015.

But it was his dog Woody who claimed the limelight.

He chased a pigeon down the red carpet, which appeared to be most terrified of the intrusion.

Tom, 46, appeared to take the incident in his stride as he stopped to take selfies with his delighted fans while Woody tried to get in the frame once again to get in on the action.

But once inside the cinema, the pooch behaved far better as he stood alongside the handsome actor for another set of pictures.

Woody, who was a Labrador cross, was six years old when he tragically died in 2017 from polymyositis, which causes inflammation of muscles.

And it's not just the red carpet where A-list celebs have shared their limelight and fame with furry pals...

It is rare that Demi Moore will let her pet Chihuahua, Pilaf, leave her side—not even a red carpet can separate the two.

For years, the actress, 61, has shared the spotlight with her little brown and white dog and is typically seen cradling the animal in her arms.

Barely bigger than her hand, Demi parades her pooch, who she dubs as her 'partner', around all of her events and has built a very strong connection.

Her bond with the pampered pup is so strong that weeks ago, Demi revealed she could understand Pilaf's emotions.

The Hollywood star claimed her pet was 'moved' by the Spider-Man actor's West End appearance in Shakespeare's tragedy.

'She's like my little friend, my partner,' Demi said of Pilaf.

'She's my little travel mate. And she's just a joy. I usually have her in a little sling. We go everywhere together.

'She's been to the French Open and the Louvre. She's been to Broadway shows.

'She recently saw Tom Holland in Romeo And Juliet in London. She was quite moved. She thought the performance was extraordinary, as it was.'

Peaky Blinders star Tom Hardy adores his dogs so much that he once said his dogs are his only friends and that he even identifies as one.

The actor is inseparable from his beloved French Bulldog, Blue.

Tom, who is known for being a life-long dog-lover, has such a close bond with his pup that they occasionally work together and is rarely not by his side.

In April, he returned to CBeebies Bedtime Stories to read I Am A Tiger by Karl Newson with illustrations by Ross Collins.

During this appearance Tom finished off his story revealing that he identifies as a dog because he is 'loyal and friendly'.

After finishing the children's book, Tom said: 'You be who you want to be and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

'Now, what am I? Well I'm friendly and loyal and I love to be out and about so I am a dog. That feels right I am a dog. And like all good dogs, I think it's time for me to go to bed.'

He signed off: 'So let's all go to bed and I'll see you soon for another bedtime story. Goodnight, woof.'

Tom's devotion to dogs; either his own, helping to rehome others or rescuing strays, literally, from the side of the road, is unmatched.

The dog lover has rarely parted from his animals over the years. He is so devoted to his pooches that, as a student in the late Nineties, he would even bring them to his drama classes.

Once, he even refused to go if he could not bring his canine.

F1 Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, 39, has made many high-profile appearances with his British Bulldog Roscoe, as he is known to spoil his pampered pooch.

The racing star is hardly seen without his trusty steed as he jets around the world with his vegan pup.

Roscoe is seen as Lewis's best friend as the driving talent has built a bond so strong that he shares his food with the pup and takes him on private plans to travel the world.

Just days ago, Lewis even brought Roscoe along to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone for support.

In October, Lewis also threw the dog a party for his 11th birthday.

With a crown on his head and a feather boa wrapped around his neck, the pampered pooch was surrounded by his friends wearing multi-coloured cone-shaped hats for the party.

Roscoe beamed up at the camera as he perched on the sofa with a bunch of balloons behind him while surrounded by his pals, who eagerly waited to tuck into the vegan cake that the Formula One star gave his pet.

Hamilton, 38, runs an Instagram page for the dog, which boasts close to 1m followers and posted a picture of the celebrations on Wednesday with the caption: 'One time for the birthday boy'sss.'

A source close to the star said that throwing a party for his dog was something he took very seriously.

'Roscoe has been with Lewis through thick and thin, and he loves to treat him,' said the friend.

'He takes him everywhere with him and loves to show Roscoe that he is hugely appreciated, it might sound odd to some but to Lewis it is just how it is .'

Paris Hilton is a dog-lover whose adoration is not contained to one or, two or even five dogs.

The hotel heiress, 43, loves dogs so much that she has at least 10 and adores each and every one.

While 10 may seem like a handful, Paris has managed perfectly fine and has thoroughly spoiled her miniature pack as she had a custom mini dog mansion built in her garden for them all to live in.

When they are not relaxing in luxury, Paris is typically seen with one of her small dogs sitting her Hermes Birkin bag while she runs errands and attends events.

Her constant pooch appearances even led to her coining the phrase 'purse dog' because she carried her small dogs in her designer bags.

Some of her dogs that she has introduced to the public are Cryto, Ether, Prince Baby Bear, Prince, Princess Paris Jr, Slivington, Harajuku B***h, Marilyn Monroe, Diamond Baby, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell - who are all some variation of chihuahua or pomeranian.

Katy Perry is every inch the doting dog mum as she even made her pup, Nugget, the micro teacup poodle, famous.

The California Girls singer, 39, featured the brown curly pooch in her music video for Small Talk.

Nugget dealt with the cameras exceptionally well after making her music video debut.

While the song centers around the uncomfortable and awkward feeling of being around an ex, the accompanying videos focus on her relationship with her pup and his jealousy when she meets a new lover.

Nugget was dressed to match Katy and was utterly inseparable from her and all her activities.

The pup even showcased his skills, winning the grand prize at the Mutt Ball.

Not only does Nugget join her for some work, but the pup also follows Katy's lifestyle habits and turns vegan.

In 2021 , she revealed her desire 'to continue to be open to better.' The pop superstar then announced she was nearly ready to become a full-time vegan.

She also hinted that her beloved dog Nugget may also be joining her on her new lifestyle path.

'I'm about 95% ready to be 100% VEGAN…' Perry, 36, confessed in the tweet before turning her attention to her pet pooch.

'My dog Nugget has been joining me on this journey for the past 4 monthz (sic). Pray for us ok.'
