Matthew McConaughey's eye seems healed after it was swollen from a bee sting 2 days ago as he attends the National Governors Association in Utah

Matthew McConaughey was seen at the annual summer meeting of the National Governors Association on Friday in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The movie star's eye seemed to be fully healed after a bee sting left him with a very swollen eye just two days ago.

While at the meeting he talked politics.

He had a chance to sit on a panel with Governor Spencer Cox of Utah, a Republican, and Governor Jared Polis of Colorado, a Democrat, to discuss how to promote civility in politics.

And the Dallas Buyers Club star, 54, also talked about his own political ambitions. 'I'm on a learning tour and have been for probably the last six years,' McConaughey told New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, per ABC News.

'Do I have the instincts and intellect that it would be a good fit for me and I would be a good for it. You know, would I be useful,' Matthew – who posted a sweet 16th birthday tribute to his on Levi last month – said.

He added that he was learning a lot at the annual summer meeting of the governors.

'I learned a lot from you last night through that tequila, sir,' he joked to Murphy. Earlier, the governor had talked about drinking McConaughey's tequila with him.

But Gov. Josh Green, a Democrat from Hawaii encouraged him to run someday and had some solid advice for him.

'Don’t fall into the trap to think you should be just one thing,' Green said. 'A lot of Republicans will want you to be Republican and a lot of Democrats will want you to be a Democrat, just be you because that might be something special for all of us.'

On the panel, the A Time to Kill actor talked about how these days, politicians' need to drive social media interactions can lead to extreme viewpoints.

McConaughey said that a form of the same extreme polarization the political arena has seen has also taken hold in Hollywood.

'My industry has to watch its tongue out of the gate because it’s coming from the left. We have to open that conversation with our opening statements and not invalidate a moderate or conservative at the gate, which we’re guilty of to an extent,' McConaughey said about  actors and directors weighing in on politics.

Back in 2022 McConaughey danced around the idea of running for governor of Texas.

The Academy Award winner has been very outspoken on gun control – particularly after the shootings in Uvalde, which is where he grew up.

His appearance at the meeting comes after The Wedding Planner actor got stung by a bee in his eye.

The brutal bee sting caused his right eye to swell and shut completely.

Matthew posted the alarming snap to his 9.8M Instagram followers with the simple caption: 'bee swell,' offering no other explanation.
