Baby Reindeer scoops 11 Emmy nominations as Richard Gadd's controversial show and Netflix's other ratings hit The Crown lead British hopes at annual awards show

Baby Reindeer has scored 11 nods at the 2024 Emmy nominations, as Brit talent dominates at the major TV awards ceremony which will dish out gongs in September.

The Netflix show has landed nods for best limited series, competing against Fargo, Lessons in Chemistry, Ripley and True Detective: Night Country.

Scottish comedian Richard Gadd has three nominations - for acting, writing and producing the global hit.

Jessica Gunning, who plays stalker Martha, is also nominated for an acting award, as are co-stars Nava Mau (Teri) and Tom Goodman-Hill (Darrien).

Autobiographical black comedy-thriller Baby Reindeer, based on Gadd's own experiences, was released on Netflix in April.

The miniseries followed an aspiring comedian and sexual assault victim who gets stalked by a woman he meets bartending at a pub.

The news is a welcome distraction from reports that Baby Reindeer real-life stalker Fiona Harvey is demanding £135 million from Netflix after claiming the streaming giant's series was not based on a true story.

Netflix has pledged to 'vigorously defend' a lawsuit worth millions of dollars.

Also flying the Brit flag at The Emmys is another Netflix smash hit - The Crown.

Peter Morgan's royal family biopic has 18 nominations for its final season, which debuted in two parts in November and December of last year.

The show has secured the most Emmy nominations of any departing series of the last year.

Its star Imelda Staunton is up for best lead actress in a drama, for playing Elizabeth II while Jonathan Pryce (Prince Philip), Dominic West (the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles), Elizabeth Debicki (Diana, Princess of Wales) and Lesley Manville (Princess Margaret) also have nominations.
