EXCLUSIVEAmanda Abbington will break her silence on Lorraine next week as she returns to TV for the first time since quitting Strictly Come Dancing

Amanda Abbington will finally break her silence as she returns to TV for the first time since quitting Strictly during an appearance on Lorraine next week.

The actress, 50, is a guest on the show next Thursday and will be interviewed by stand-in host Christine Lampard as Lorraine is on holiday for the summer break.

She abruptly left Strictly in October citing 'personal issues' and hasn't been seen on screen since, even quitting social media last month in the wake of her former dance partner Giovanni Pernice's sacking.

The Italian professional, 33, will not be returning to the BBC series amid an ongoing investigation into his alleged 'abusive' behaviour behind the scenes.

Since his departure, fellow pro Graziano Di Prima, 30, has also been given the boot after he admitted to 'kicking' his celebrity dance partner, documentary maker Zara McDermott, 27, who was afraid to step forward about the way she was treated.

A TV source told MailOnline: 'Amanda will be on Lorraine next week.

'She has been booked to promote her upcoming play When It Happens To You but obviously, with everything that's been happening, Christine will be asking Amanda how she is amid the scandal.

'Given the BBC investigation is ongoing, the show will have to abide by those restrictions.

'It's the first time Amanda has returned to live television since she quit Strictly, everyone is looking forward to her appearance because who knows what she might say.'

Amanda will star in new play When It Happens To You at the Park Theatre in north London for a month from July 31.

It marks her return to the spotlight after she maintained a lowkey profile following her Strictly departure nine months ago.

She was partnered with Italian Giovanni, who has been hit by claims he was abusive in the training room, which he denies.

Fellow Italian dancer Graziano was sacked from the programme last week after he was accused of kicking and spitting at former Love Island star Zara, who was approached by the BBC to give her account as they continue their investigations.

MailOnline has approached ITV for comment.

Writing on Instagram, Zara said: '… And so much of my Strictly experience was everything I could have dreamt of. The entire production team and everyone behind the scenes as well as my fellow contestants were so amazing to work with.

'However, my experience inside the training room was very different. Reports have been made about my treatment on the show and there were witnesses to some events, as well as videos of particular incidents, which are incredibly upsetting to watch.'

On Thursday, it was revealed Strictly golden couple Nadiya Bychkova and Kai Widdrington had split up after two years together.

The pair, who will both appear on the upcoming series, have gone their separate ways after Nadiya reportedly met with BBC bosses to make a complaint about the show.

Earlier today, it was reported Giovanni is also single again following the end of his romance with influencer Molly Brown.

According to the Mirror, the ongoing Strictly scandal took a toll on the couple's relationship.
