Lindsay Lohan was spotted jet skiing in Malibu on the set of Freakier Friday – the sequel to 2003's Freaky Friday - on Wednesday.

The Herbie: Fully Loaded star, 38, showed off her slender post-baby body in a skintight turquoise blue wetsuit with black knee pads and had her red hair pulled back into a bun.

The former child star appeared to be in great spirits as she filmed the beach scenes alongside her fellow cast members and several crew.

At one point, she deftly handled the jet ski as she waved to the people on the pristine California shore.

The film also stars Jamie Lee Curtis, 65, who reprises her role of Tess opposite Lohan's Anna.

Lohan teased that there is a 'new song in this that is really beautiful.'

While they couldn't say much about the story for the sequel, Lohan teased it has, 'the right amount of funny, the right amount of freaky.'

Curtis added, 'The movie is just freakier in all aspects. It's funnier, and there's more physical comedy. The switches are freakier.'

She added that returning co-stars Mark Harmon and Chad Michael Murray are also, 'freakier,' This one has more swapping.'

Curtis teased, 'I can't tell you what it is, but I have a secret way of reminding myself [which character I'm playing], but I can't tell you until you see the movie, or until we're promoting the movie, and then you'll know a lot more about the movie.'

When asked what it was like when she asked Disney to make a sequel, Curtis said she practically insisted that they make this.

'I don't think I said we want to, I think I might have said you have to make a sequel, I don't think I was asking,' she joked.

'The truth is, I'm quite old and I've worked a lot and everywhere I go, the movie that people want to know about is Freaky Friday,' Curtis said.

'With all the other work I've done, Freaky Friday is the one they wanted, so when I came back from world tour, I did call Disney and say, 'We need to be making Freaky Friday,' and now we are.'

This comes after Curtis said she finds it 'crazy' that Lohan is now an adult.

The actress starred alongside Lindsay - who is married to Bader Shammas and has Luai, 13 months, with him - in the 2004 Disney bodyswap comedy Freaky Friday.

She has admitted that that it is 'insane' to think how her on-screen daughter is now grown up.

She told US TV show Extra: 'She's grown up. She's had a baby of her own… She's 38 years old. I mean, how crazy is that? She was 15 when we made the movie. I mean, it's insane.'

The 'My Girl' star noted that she and Lindsay 'fell right back' into playing mother and daughter on set and explained that the project has only come to fruition because of the 'huge fan base' that the first movie has.

She said: 'Lindsay and I fell right back into it, she's a mommy now, I'm a grandma. I'm not a real grandma, but I play a grandma in the movie. It has a huge fanbase. The reason we made the movie is because I went around the world for 'Halloween' and I came back and called [Disney CEO] Bob Iger and said 'Bob, everywhere I went in the world, all they really wanted to know if there was going to be a sequel to 'Freaky Friday', and guess what? It's happening!'

In Freaky Friday - which was a remake of the 1978 film starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris - Jamie Lee played psychologist Dr. Tess Coleman who switches places with her teenage daughter Anna (Lohan), who is an aspiring rock star who often clashes with her mother.

Following the success of the film, Lindsay went on to star in high school comedy 'Mean Girls', then 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' and 'Just My Luck' but endured a number of personal problems in the years that followed and only returned to the film scene in 2022 with 'Falling For Christmas'.

Last week Lindsay said she would love to see life through her baby boy's eyes.

The star has admitted she'd love to swap bodies with 13-month-old baby Luai as he is 'so pure and happy'.

The looker told PEOPLE when asked who she would swap with: 'Anyone? Maybe my baby.

'Just to see — because he is, so pure and just so happy, just to see life through his eyes, just every day. He's just this beautiful bundle of joy. I can't think of anything else.'

In the joint interview with co-star Curtis, Lindsay said of their bond: 'I think we've grown so much closer since then. Especially on this movie.'

Jamie Lee says she wanted Lindsay to know she 'cared' and was there to support her amid the plights of fame.

She said: 'Lindsay was 15 going on 16 when we made Freaky Friday. And it was a big success. It was a big success for both of us.

'And I just feel like since that time I've always tried to make sure that she understood that I existed in a very real way and that it wasn't some fake movie, that we were friends and that I cared about her. Because there are many hard things about being a young actor in the glare and spin of this business is awful.'

On the enduring success of the film, Lindsay added: 'As I get older, seeing how much people have loved it and how much it stays with people, it's in people's homes, that's when you realise what an impact it had on people and how much of a success it was.'
