The Crow remake was released in cinemas on Friday, August, 23, and is expected to hit streaming platform Starz in around February, 2025.

It  has teased a looming revenge twist and a tale of true love, stars Bill who portrays superhero Eric /The Crow - a role originated by Bruce Lee's son Brandon, who was tragically killed on the set of the original 1994 adaptation.

The film still made it to box office as Bruce had completed most of his scenes at the time of the fatal accident.

In the upcoming remake FKA stars as Eric's fiancée Shelly Webster. It marks FKA's first feature film appearance since 2019's Honey Boy.

Back in September 2023, it was revealed that Lionsgate had secured the The Crow reboot after a fierce bidding war.

The entertainment company paid a reported eight-figure sum for the domestic distribution rights to the film, according to Deadline.

Director Rupert Sanders told Vanity Fair: 'What drew me to this was the opportunity to make a dark romance, something that dealt with loss, grief, and the ethereal veil between life and death and reaching through that.'

Rupert, 52, whose previous films include 2012's Snow White And The Hunstsman, continued: 'Look, I grew up listening to Joy Division and the Cure, and this movie is a bit like a Cure song—the beauty of melancholy.

While Eric’s and Shelly’s onscreen deaths occur in the opening minutes of the 1994 version of The Crow, Rupert admits he always wanted his version of the story to have a more even balance between light and dark.

He said: 'I never did any tests between Bill and Twigs. I had them for dinner when they first arrived [on set] in Prague and I was a bit like a nervous parent looking to see if there were any sparks, because you don’t know.

'And they were great. They hung out and were straight into it.'

The Crow is based on the 1989 limited comic book series of the same name by James O'Barr. It has spawned five films, including the 2024 adaptation.

The first The Crow was a success at the box office, making $50.6 million against a budget of $23 million. It precedes The Crow: City of Angels (1996), The Crow: Salvation (2000), and The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005).
