I was about to die. Worse, I was about to die with bastards.

The first time I pick this up I ended up putting it down after a few chapters and deciding it wasn't for me, however, a few days later I found myself wanting to pick it back up again and fin" Read more of this review »

Rarely do I enjoy the second book in a series more than the first, and never before have I enjoyed one so much that I immediately revisited book one AND took a second lap around the sequel.

"Given my normal slowness this was a very quick read. It was one of the rare books that I MADE time for rather than fitted into the bits and pieces of spare time that come my way.

"Oh man! This was so good I had to go and buy a copy for my library! Definitely worth a re-read. Loved the main characters of this so much. They had such an arc of growth and real depth, something I absolutely love in a book. The story dovetailed beau" Read more of this review »

“One of the hardest and truest things a grown-up learns is that sometimes it's not okay.”
Christopher Buehlman

“But when I make a good [taxidermy] mount I feel like I beat God in a small way. As though the Almighty said, Let such critter be dead, and I said, 'Fuck You, he can still play the banjo.”
Christopher Buehlman, Those Across the River

“But it will be harder for you if you remember. Love is always harder. Love means weathering blows for another’s sake and not counting them. Love is loss of self, loss of other, and faith in the death of loss.”

Michele Congrats on the Shirley Jackson award nomination!

Stephanie Just stopped in at Garden District bookshop to pick up an autographed copy of your novel. Laughing that I had to go all the way to New Orleans to get it--and the clerk told me you had stopped in yesterday! This city is full of coincidences.
I'm looking forward to reading the book. Happy New Year and much success in 2012!
