I didn’t find this that exciting, to be honest. The whole storyline can be summarized as that first message on the cover of the book.
I liked Marty and I liked learning more about him and his . But his relationship with Dalton started and developed in a way that didn’t feel believable to me, even for a story that is not meant to be taken seriously at all. There was also too much focus on the physical side of it, at least for my taste, and I found Marty’s bluntness cringey.
I didn’t care about I did like the epilogue, though.

Fresh, funny, and heart-warmingly sweet and sexy, book two in the M/M new adult Alpha Tau series will leave you re-energized and heart-happy.
Returning readers will undoubtedly (and fondly) remember Dalton Beauregard and Marty O’Brien from their secondary (but stand-out) roles in book one, The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project, this time sharing the spotlight in a very sexy and sweet tale of opposites attracting.
Dalton is the college golden boy, keeping his head down and working his arse off to achieve his dreams of becoming a doctor. He’s out and proud, but lonely and scorned, after recently being dumped, quite publicly, by his high school sweetheart and now apparent douche canoe ex.
Dalton has been trying to live an ordered and focused life, chaos free and perhaps a tad boring because of it, when Marty, a friendly and unfiltered dude-bro from a neighbouring fraternity, bursts into Dalton’s life, asking to be tutored in both schoolwork and being gay.
Although Dalton’s first reaction is to shut the crazy down, he finds himself abandoning sanity and saying yes to the very baffling, completely guileless hunk-of-a-guy before him, who, for some magical reason, has decided to put all his faith (and his very future) in Dalton’s hands.
Marty and Dalton were absolute darling characters; both very different from one another in temperament and life experience, but so perfectly and effortlessly fitted together as friends and boyfriends in a way that was just so lovely to read.
Marty was especially memorable, with his unfiltered and chaotic personality, his golden-retriever heart-of-gold, and his boundless energy and natural spontaneity, all of which brought some much-needed sunshine and joy to Dalton’s otherwise quiet life. I particularly appreciated the way Marty's neurodiversity was explored, normalized and so wonderfully celebrated and accepted by the people who mattered in his life. I’m always down for more of this kind of representation, when done this authentically.
As for the romance, I was honestly expecting a bit of a slow-burn, friends-to-lovers-type arc between these two, much like Archer and Eli from book one, but Dalton and Marty’s relationship started early, igniting fast and hot, progressing at such a perfect pace that I was as happy as a clam to be thrown in the deep end with them, as they discovered new joys of life and sex simply by being together and making each other happier for it.
So far, this college-set M/M series has delivered EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. with low-angst, high-humour stories, featuring loveable characters, steamy sexual awakenings and the sweetest of romances, proving absolutely perfect for new adult M/M readers who are after a good book-induced dolphins boost (inside joke).

even better than the first. loved this!
The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project is a ridiculously fun read. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. The humour was right up my alley and I have fallen in love with these characters. I knew from book 1, that Marty's book was gonna be great.
Following Marty's foolproof plan to get better grades by emulating his friends. The main point in his plan being to be gay. That's where Dalton comes in; Smart and gay he's the perfect tutor. He can help Marty study and do some gay stuff together.
Dalton and Marty's romance was the perfect opposites-attract. I loved how protective they got of one another whenever someone questioned their compatibility.
There's also some future planning with the rivalry between Alpha Tau and the Kappa's ramping up. Has me excited for how The Amazing Alpha Tau Romeo and Juliet Project will play out!
Marty was a bit like a bonfire too. He was hot, he moved fast, and under no circumstances should he ever be left unattended.
And like a moth, I was drawn to his flame.

I wasn’t sure if epic was the word I’d choose—but it was gonna be something, that much was certain.”
Bro, I don't know what happened, but The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project (never gets tired of being a mouthful 😅) wasn't as enjoyable as I had hoped it would have been. Something about the way that Marty O’Brien and Dalton Beauregard's relationship started off on such a strange footing that made it harder for me to enjoy the rest of their development. 😔
“He was a hot mess—and yet somehow, I was into it. Marty might be unpredictable, but I couldn’t remember the last time I’d laughed so much.
And it didn’t hurt that he was hot as hell.”
It's the kind of relationship that doesn't make sense from the outside, but to those on the inside - nothing else would make much more sense. And for Marty to bulldoze his way into Dalton's life, when he was at his lowest point - perhaps was the best thing that had ever happened to him. It may have not felt natural at how quickly and abruptly Dalton succumbed to Marty's whims and desires, but what did feel natural was the meaningful changes that being together brought to both of them. For me, that was the best take-away I could have gleaned from their relationship. 👍🏻❤️🩹

And yet I was still having more fun than I’d had with Emmett in literal years.”
I liked that Marty gave Dalton a chance to have fun in life - to just kick back and enjoy living in the moment, and not being so pretentious and dedicated to only studying for being a doctor, but just embrace the now. I wanted to kick Dalton's ex's butt, but Marty definitely helped out with that! 😆 Even if some of Marty's impulsive actions made me also wary, I liked that Dalton never wanted Marty to ever lose that spark in him. That no matter how outlandish the act was, he was able to overlook it, because he was able to see the person behind it. Because of Marty, Dalton grew out of his shell - 'a straight A student who’d made the Dean’s List every year at Lassiter - the golden boy on campus' who doesn't ever get in trouble. And they did share some really sweet moments; from dolphins to donuts, to intimate romantic get-aways, they developed this unique bond that was entirely their own, and no one else's opinion mattered - even if some of their dialogue was a bit cringe-y! But, Dalton being so defensive and caring of Marty was 🤌🏻🤌🏻.
I don't know if Marty grew on me or not. 🙍🏻♀️ I have yet to read the novella, which is from his point of view, so maybe he can redeem himself there, and perhaps not having his perspective here was a severe setback, but --- okay, he was adorable - 'a smart boy. you’re just a little... a little scatterbrained... Distractible'. He certainly meant well and was always with good intentions, no matter how crazily random some of his thoughts were. 🥺 He was much like an overgrown puppy with an overabundance of bouncing energy, with his Hawaiin shirts, his hyper-active and easy-going, yet at times, impulsive personality, but still with the biggest and kindest heart, and yet oozing over-eager confidence shied away by a certain vulnerability that he only let the special few see - like Dalton, but... I think I was just a little bit uncomfortable in the way Marty did approach the whole 'be gay with me' vibe. 🙎🏻♀️

I'm glad Dalton was happier than he had ever been then the time he was spending with him. That's all that counts, right? 🥺 'If Marty promised fun, fun was what you got.' I'm glad that he came to Dalton at a time when Dalton really needed him - that was probably the best thing about their dynamic! How he was exactly what Dalton needed to improve himself, too! That he was that fun element that had been missing - that helped him regain the reassurance and confidence in himself and lure out 'the rebel and a renegade hiding under my respectable exterior'! 🥹🥹 I didn't even quite mind the abrupt suddenness in which Dalton embraced his love for Marty, as him being the one, because of how much he actually appreciated the excitement and change he brought into his drab world. It was just the way Marty was embracing it - like it didn't feel natural or genuine, more like it was just another impulsive choice that he was acting upon, regardless of his previous thoughts on the matter.
But, all the experimenting, all the wanting curiosity from Marty's end didn't quite strike a believable chord with me, like being gay or being attracted to someone of the opposite sex was just a random afterthought - like he wasn't taking it too seriously, rather just something that he wanted to try out 'this gay stuff', for the heck of it. 😒 It felt a bit distasteful to me, maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it didn't feel like he even believed in his bi-awakening, more like a spur of a moment decision that somehow mutually benefited both of them. '..This was the dumbest idea I’d ever heard—but I couldn’t help but be interested. Here was Marty O’Brien, offering himself up on a cliched platter with ‘Experimental College Phase’ written all over it.'
I do appreciate that Dalton did help Marty evolve and improve in ways that he was lacking in; in more ways than what Marty was even expecting him to, as well! After all, that IS why he sought him out! It was just the way that it went about with it, that Marty's own dismissive nature to it felt a bit disrespectful - I know it fits his natures, but... I don't know. I'm a little confused as to why it bothered me so much, and don't quite know how else to explain it. It just didn't feel right, and it kept bothering me throughout the story. 😥
The camaraderie, the spirit of unity and the innate friendship that has them each looking out for one another was just a joy to see. Watching them with their homies makes me wish I was a frat bro! 🥰 The bros from Theta Phi and Alpha Tau were such an entertaining sort - bold and interactive as ever - full of laughs and fun that makes seeing their hilarious quips and banter even more enjoyable. Casey has piqued my interest, Marshall was the stoic and composed leader, and even Stuart grew on me. I really love how the authors capture their dynamic. The opposing frats were such tools, and I was really glad to see how much more of the campus played an integral part in this particular storyline - feuding frat bros was a fun concept, and seeing it play an integral part till the end, albeit for different reasons, was nicely done. 😊

Despite my perplexity over the advancement of this couple's affection for each other, I still want to revisit these lovable losers - 'because one thing we’re good at in Alpha Tau is flipping expectations.' 🙏🏻 And, the epilogue was adorable and it gave me all these warm fuzzies that I couldn't bring myself to debase their story any further. The last line especially, truly captures how sentimental and meaningful Marty's impact has been in Dalton's life - how they both improved something in the other that they didn't know needed to be, but in the end, worked out beautifully for both of them. 🤍🤍

Marty is just pure entertainment, I couldn't stop reading 😂
'Release the dolphins' had me giggling and I feel like I need to say that now every time I sneak off to read a book.
I loved how Marty decided Dalton was the guy for him and just barrelled into his life like a whirlwind and made it happen. It actually made me like Dalton a whole lot more too, because I was definitely on the fence about him in the first book.
The short story Romancing Dalton from Marty's POV was also hilarious - the serenading and the picnic were my favourite attempts 😂
Looking forward to Casey's story next.

Who gave this book the right to be so funny and silly but also so sweet and full of heart?

NONE!!!!! like wow. they got together soooo fast, too fast. not enough build up. felt like very surface level feelings…..like when u were a kid and some boy paid slight attention to you and you’re like yes this is love, only for that crush to be gone in 3 days bc hello you never liked him💀💀 them agreeing to be boyfriends felt more like “eh sure why not, got nothin else to do” than “i really like you and want to be with you”……so when they’re all of the sudden boyfriends at 35% (yes 35%!!!!), i’m looking around like huuhuhhh??? y’all seeing this??? what is happening right now??? i felt NOTHING the entire book. definitely bc there was absolutely no spark, nothing to get excited over, but also bc dalton has zero personality!!!! he’s a fucking cardboard box, while marty has personality times 10. every moment that was cute or funny was all marty. but i just could not get invested so i didn’t really care. ugh i really liked the first book and was looking forward to this one, but it was so flat and empty…smh disappointing af….also “boo goo” genuinely made me tear up i never wanna see that word combo again lmfaoo🤣🤣🤣 2.5 stars

This was cute and fun, Marty is the sweetest most adorable man on the planet.
But they get together really early, their relationship is great, there are no conflicts and not much happens. So I was a little bored unfortunately.

This was absurd, and yes, I know this series can't be taken seriously, but this went too far.
I felt like the book needed 20% of something at the beginning, a story about them, a why did this guy decided to emulate his friend even in the gay part, it was just thrown out of nowhere with a text message no less.
Talk about confusing. 🥲
The story had sweet moments and WTF moments. It was just more of the same with this series. And I feel there were a lot of missed opportunities, specially because of the difference of the characters.
All gone to waste.

This book was so completely over the top crazy. The premise was pretty silly and crazy. Marty was like a caricature of every frat bro, dumb blonde dude type rolled into one. Everything was just so implausible and had nothing to do with reality.
But- I actually really loved it. I had so much fun reading it. Sometimes its nice to escape reality and read something completely weird and wild haha. Definitely better than book 1.
If you're the type that likes more serious books that accurately depict college and characters who act like actual humans you probably shouldn't read this lol.

How these authors made a story about Dalton and Marty not only totally believable, but romantic AF is some witchcraft right there. On paper these two couldn't be more opposite. Dalton is careful. He doesn't party and he doesn't cause trouble. He works hard on his grades and is known as a genuinely lovely person. Then there's Marty. If you've read book one then I don't even need to explain the craziness that this man encompasses. Marty isn't careful. He's easy going and impulsive. Hell, the man is on a first name basis with campus security FFS. How these two fell in love is a mystery to many of their friends, but together, they just worked.
Marty and me fit, that was all. We shouldn't have worked together, but we really did."
I loved how Marty forced Dalton to have fun once in awhile. He helped him with his work/life balance and Dalton did the same for Marty. Marty may think it was his "big gay experiment" that was the reason for his grades improving, but it really was because he put the work in. Marty isn't stupid. The man definitely had layers and it was amazing seeing Dalton discover all of them. I also really enjoyed their trip to meet Marty's Grandpa. Those two are two peas in a pod and it was hilarious seeing them together and how Marty's Grandpa's relationship with his husband sort of mirrored Dalton and Marty's own.

This book was also very sweet. All the blushes had my heart swooning right along with the MCs. Who knew Marty could be such a caring boyfriend? I loved how much he made sure Dalton knew his feelings. After Dalton's break up with his jerk of an ex, the man was having some self-doubts. Marty obliterated those like a wrecking ball, as is his style, and I think that helped a lot with their blossoming relationship. The epilogue of this one was from Marty's POV and it was actually really beautiful if you can believe it, especially the last bit. It certainly had me finishing this book with a big smile on my face, which is actually how I was reading most of this book come to think of it. Great read!

I was looking for something light and fun and this absolutely did the trick.
It managed to be easy, breezy fun while still being clever and I really enjoyed the neurodivergent aspect and discussions about different types of intelligence. One of the major themes here is accepting people as they are, and I enjoyed how they both stood up for each other.
This was also laugh-out-loud funny at several moments, and was horrendously cheesy but tongue-in-cheek about it in a way that made me not cringe.
I’d recommend this if you want a fun, quick break you can devour in one sitting and I'll definitely be checking out the rest of the series.

This was FANTASTIC! I tore through it, laughing the whole way. I loved that Dalton really saw and valued Marty for who he was, not just the chaotic (but lovable) mess on the surface. They really balanced each other out—Marty helping Dalton have more spontaneous fun and enjoyment (and confidence), and Dalton helping temper some of Marty’s impulses as well as helping him focus. There were some super-sweet romantic gestures, scorching-hot sex, hilarious hijinks, and very low angst. This is one I’ll happily recommend again and again. 🥰

This was not even 200 pages and it was still too long for me. There was nothing interesting about the relationship for this Alpha Tau member and that was 100% of the pull to read this installment of the series. There is nothing more that I love than a himbo character and there was a huge opportunity missed not to use this to an advantage ESPECIALLY with the self discovery plotline. Marty could have slowly discovered his preferences while being tutored by Dalton, using his bluntness to put a different spin on the plot.
So while these characters were cute and their relationship was low angst, it was just a bit too boring.

Man, I love this series. It's hilarious, it's fun, and the writing is always just so clean and neat and good.
Lisa Henry knows how to write a book. It's never clunky, it's never choppy, and it's always so clever and funny.
Dalton and Marty are so perfect for each other. Their banter is hilarious, and I love the over the top frat brother vibe these books always seem to provide.
It just gives you a good feeling from beginning and to end, and it's a fun filled ride the whole time.

Written in single POV from the voice of Dalton. A sunshine/non-sunshine story, I can't call Dalton grumpy, because he isn't, but he is cautious and sensible which is a stark contrast to Marty. Most people will not look beyond Marty's looks and blasé ways but Dalton does and sees him. Marty is a scatterbrain, a million miles an hour guy but he makes Dalton happy and loosen up, having fun. We suspect, like Dalton, that Marty has his reasons for his lack of focus and difficulties in managing tasks and I'm glad it was kept positive. For a bi-awakening it is quite steamy and the chemistry and love between them was flashing bright. This is a Frat story, so expect the rival houses warring and humour. I'm not normally one for quotes, but some of Marty's lines were so sweet. I loved how he confused endorphins with dolphins and how Dalton never felt the need to correct him. I loved how Dalton was compared to donuts, which is a big deal in Marty's eyes: "you're still my best donut." This series is great fun, with all the feels too. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Marty is a whirlwind, impulsive, unfiltered, easily distracted, a rollercoaster, big smiles, honest and fun. His mind just works a bit differently. He decided to cricket up his grades and get gay.
He stormed into Dalton’s life and settled himself to never leave.
After Dalton’s been told he’s boring and dumped by his boyfriend, Marty is a fresh air to be with.
Dalton is from Theta Phi frat house and Marty is from Alpha Tau, they and other frat houses are tortured by the daily night noise of Kappa Beta Rho’s parties. Did I say Marty is impulsive? He is!
Dalton agreed to help Marty focus on his studies, the best way to shut down his brain are orgasms. Yep, Dalton is of great help, and he loves it, both! OMG Marty is just the best. They fit perfectly and are a couple of horny bunnies.
The more they get involved the more Dalton gets to know the whole Marty and he’s quite impressive, there’s so much to know. While Marty is a big smile, high five, fist bump, and bro kind of man, at ‘moment suprême’ he’s silent, soft and caring. Oh boy, Dalton is head over heels.

It's been a while since I've fallen this hard for two characters . . . one with ADHD, and one so hurt by love he's forgotten how to laugh.

Aww I loved this book, it was adorable. I don't know if I can describe it but this book really makes you feel like you're on the crazy ride with Dalton, just seeing what Marty does next and going with the flow having no idea what's coming up. It's really fun and you somehow see the growth of the two MC without a lot of the internal dialogue that you often see in romances but which can kinda slow the pace. You still get a sense of introspection but the book never drags, it's a delightful ride from Marty's very first text.
I am really loving this series and have pre-ordered the next two books.

super sweet and cute. i loved dalton and marty together so much. they have two completely different personalities that work so well together and balance one another out. i am definitely looking forward to the next book as well ^^

Hmmm... I liked this slightly less than the first book The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project. Marty was a scene stealer in Archer and Eli's book and I was hoping that he comes to spotlight in this book. But, Marty still stays "behind" because we experience everything from Dalton's eyes.
I get it, Dalton is the one needing "self-improvement" no matter that Marty approached Dalton to improve his (Marty's own) life. Marty is awesome, even with his thoughts coming leaps and bounds, and his acts sometimes confound his friends. I don't see him as someone needing any help in self-improvement. Dalton, in the meantime, is the one having his eyes open with this relationship with Marty.
BUT because of that, I feel like I need more behind Marty's reason to choose Dalton in the first place. I can't 100% accept that the only reason is because Dalton is smart. Is Dalton the ONLY one in the whole campus? Like, what sparks that Marty sees in Dalton?
Everything is a little bit one-sided for me and I guess I didn't find Dalton as endearing as MC.
