Tale of the Heart Queen

Rate this book
After Lor makes the biggest mistake of her life, she finds herself on the run from the Aurora King and decides it's time to end this, once and for all. But when a new enemy emerges to claim her freedom, the entire fate of Ouranos comes to rest on her shoulders.

As the land continues to rebel, Lor must admit she is the key to saving the continent, whether she likes it or not. To fight for Nadir, she must lie, steal, and do whatever it takes to hunt down the remaining arks. Growing more and more desperate, she worries her actions are turning her into something she doesn't recognize, dooming her to repeat her grandmother's mistakes.

When the Aurora King finally comes for her, Lor ventures into the Underworld's shadowy depths, where, once again, she finds herself at the heart of another deadly test. Only this time, she’s competing for everyone's future, not just a crown.

I gotta say.. I am very sad this series is over. I loved it so much and I hate that it has come to an end. I will miss all of these characters because I truly felt like I was in the story with them all throughout these last 4 books. I devoured each and every single one of these books and loved every single moment. Book 4- Tale of the Heart Queen was great and I loved how it ended too. There was so much that went on in this book. I loved all the adventures we got to explore with Lor and Nadir. I love that we got the back story of Rion and what made him who he was today. I love the villians in this story too and how it all played out with them, the arks, everything. Truly an amazing series and I HIGHLY recommend this series to every single one of you. I know this wont be my last time reading this book and definitely will re-read this entire series again in the near future. You will be in for a wild ride with this one! <3

I think this was a great ending to this series and very happy with how all the character arcs wrapped up. I think Lor and Nadir are at their best in this book, they are both finally on the same page and it makes the romance even sweeter especially the part of the book when they weren't together. This book also has multiple povs and timelines so we get to see the backstories of characters, gods, and family members. This book definitely had plot and twists and we get a happy ending but it takes a while to get there. The spice and romance in this book were great i loved Nadir and Lor and how great they are together. I think this is the spiciest and the scenes were hot. Overall this was good and I would love to see if any spin-offs come from this world. Thank you Forever for this arc for an honest review.

After the horror show of the last book, at least when it comes to the ending, I didn't know what to expect from this.
Would Lor finally be free?
Would the bad guys finally meet their deserved end?
And would I ever see my beloved Nadir again?

I've got to say, I enjoyed learning more about the goddess, Zerra, but I could've done without her strange perversions. Finding out she wasn't as 'godly' as she was renowned to be wasn't exactly a surprise, but she took it several steps further and for some reason I found it all very hilarious.

I loved that, once again, I got to be in the heads of several characters. My heart absolutely broke for my favorites and I continued to root for them to win.

I don't know how this author did it, but I'm still twisted over this entire series. I didn't want it to end and I was looking for ways for there to be a spinoff so I could spend more time with these characters.

It's the last book so obviously the good guys won, but it takes a lot of painful and dangerous steps to get there. Strap in!

I could not think of a better ending for this series. Nisha Tuli is a master.

Also, I need to thank Nisha for promising a happy ending because the twists and turns in this book had my heart dropping. At least I could chant to myself, “It’s going to be happy. It’s okay,” repeatedly. Also thanks to the men working at the auto shop where I devoured this book while waiting for my vehicle. You were all incredibly polite as I literally cried over my kindle.

About the book (please don’t read on if you have not read books 1-3 yet):

The pacing was perfection, and there was a little bit of all my favorite fantasy elements. Zerra added a new little twist, and I was all about it. Nadir and Lor stayed strong throughout, and I appreciated that none of the conflict in this book was between them. It would have been easy to include, but definitely less appealing.

The spice of the book was on par with book 3 (maybe half a step up?). Not so much that it detracts from the plot but definitely present.

The growth of the characters, especially Willow and Gabriel, was everything I could have wished for in this one. Without spoilers, I can’t be too specific here, but this book does include some strong character arcs. Some redemption arcs, but not for everyone! It kept things pretty interesting.

There are still some pointed similarities to books written by another mainstream romantasy writer, but this doesn’t bother me, and I don’t feel like Tuli is writing knockoff books in any way. A lot of fae romantasy share elements simply because they work so well as plot devices.

As I said: this ending was everything. I feel so content and at peace with it. Thank you SO so much to Forever and to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this one early. Waiting til November seemed impossible. But for those of you who are waiting: it’s absolutely worth it.

Nisha J. Tuli could give a master class on completing a series. Tale of the Heart Queen is the perfect ending to an absolutely stunning series, leaving no loose ends and giving our beloved (and not so beloved) characters the endings they deserve. Absolutely heart wrenching at times and brilliantly romantic at others.

This may be the highest stakes book yet, and that is saying something! Lor, Nadir, and Gabriel still cannot catch a break, and now some of the events of the past that they wanted to brush off and not think about, they have to face head on. Gabriel's story focuses on the events that took place in Fate of the Sun King and picks up exactly where it left off, with a giant headache and a lot of recovery to get through. Meanwhile, Lor and Nadir have to figure out how to survive their ending from FOTSK and eventually make their way back to each other, knowing they are better together and will accomplish more together. There is a lot of grief, trauma, and forgiveness in this book, and no stone goes unturned leaving no mysteries at the end. Even our side characters see a lot of action, and are given endings, and for that I am grateful.

I do not reread many books. This is a series I WILL reread in the future and I am already excited to, just thinking about it. While we will miss Ouranos, I am excited to explore Tuli's other titles. I recommend this series to all romance and fantasy readers, and anyone who wants to try romantasy. If you've enjoyed Sarah J. Parker and Carissa Broadbent, you need to read Nisha J. Tuli ASAP!

First of all, thank you to Nisha J. Tuli, her team, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC copy of the final book in this series.

Am I crying because it’s over? Of course I am. Was the ending perfect? Of course it was. Will I now be rereading it from the beginning to feel something? You bet your sweet, rose soap scented ass I will!

I took my time with this one because knowing it’s the last book made me want to prolong the end. I love Lor, and every other character (besides, Rion, Atlas, and Cloris- fuck you three) in this book. The writing, the humor, the sex scenes, the relationships between the characters? One thing about Nisha is that she is going to knock it out of the motherfucking park every single time. And the way she had the plot from the first book come back to tie into this final one? Chef’s kiss. 🤌🏼✨

Tale of the Heart Queen by Nisha J. Tuli

5 STARS

I have so many feelings right now - but first this book is SO good! I loved continuing Lor’s story but also I am so sad that it’s over.

Like what do I do with my life now?

We get the same action and adventure as we do in a typical book by Nisha and especially from this series. However, there is so much more at stake. I love all the POVs that we got in this one, I was curious where the story was going to go and all I can say I was here it and wasn’t disappointed in the slightest.

This one was a long one but as you are reading it, it doesn’t feel long, I wish there were more pages only for the fact that I didn’t want it to end. I first pick up this series in 2022 and having to wait for books 2 and 3, I never really thought about this series ending.

But here we are…

I’m still so sad but also I love this story so much and I HIGHLY recommend anyone who loves fantasy and romantasy to pick up this series!!

releasing Nov. 26th - thank you so much to Forever (the publisher) for sending me an arc of this one!

**ARC review!!**

I’m so sad to leave this series but this was the perfect way to wrap everything together.

The story picks up right where we left off (thank you Nisha J Tuli for ending our suffering) and the chaos never ends. There’s so many big full circle moments, tie ins from the past books, and reveals that kept me hooked the whole time. The switches in POVs fit perfectly and I love how it wove the story together. It’s hard to conclude a series but this was so well done and fit perfectly for them.

Here are a few of my favorite things…
- an FMC in her revenge era? Yes please. So often it’s the MMC and we love that but Lor deserved this moment
- the sprinkle of wholesome moments throughout the book got me right in the heart every time. It was great balance of action and tender moments
- lol another soap moment we all wanted
- mate bonds just get me every time
- so many perfect family and friend moments

Overall, this felt like the perfect conclusion to a great series.

Would I recommend? Yes!

I absolutely have adored this series. I have fallen in love with the characters, been with them through their struggles, and was really rooting hard for them to get their happy endings. It had been a while since I read the third book, so I struggled a bit to remember where the story left off. This book felt very different from the others in the series and just seemed way too long. I did love the resolutions we got at the end with all of the storylines and I am overall happy with how it ended.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me such a special chance to read this early!

I won't say much since it's the final book in the series but I was along for the ride, I've enjoyed this series so much and honestly I'm so excited to just go back and reread to see all these little easter eggs that Nisha laid out. An incredible romantasy series.

Thank you to NetGalley for a chance to read the ARC before it is released.

First, I loved this series and was really looking forward to seeing how it would all come together in the end. However, I was disappointed in this final installment. It was far too long with a lot of unnecessary character interactions and conversations. It felt like the author wanted to make sure we as readers understood the relationships and emotions and was just shoving it down our throats. It was missing the “show not tell” aspect that I appreciate about strong writing. I found myself skipping through a lot because it was eye-roll inducing.

There was also so much lead up to the final climax and then it felt underwhelming and resolved so quickly. I usually appreciate a nicely tied up ending, but this all felt so unsatisfying. The spice sometimes felt forced and unnatural for the events that were going on at the time like it was added just to satisfy a checkbox.

Still processing this book.

I loved this series, so it’s hard to articulate my feelings on the wrap up.

I think there was a little wind taken from my sails that our ‘final showdown’ was with a brand new villain as opposed to any of the 3 we’d previously established. I also found their ends to be somewhat anticlimactic considering how big and long their villain arc was built.

That said, Nisha builds a wonderful and engaging story. It’s clear she is a passionate storyteller and the spice was spicing. There are times when the writing is a little more tell than show, but perhaps I’m alone in feeling that way.

Despite my mixed feelings on this last book, the series is worth your time.

Thank you to Forever Pub for the eARC!

Tale of the Heart Queen picks up right where Fate of the Sun King ended, with Lor dealing with the aftermath of the absolute devastation of her encounter with Rion. Lor sets out to make things right and change the course of her fate but not without unending life threatening challenges and twists to get to her happy ending.

First I will say I love this series and it is one of my favorites. It is because of that I had high hopes for its conclusion. Overall, I am so happy for the characters and how the ending tied together and loved that everyone truly got their happy endings (except Atlas, f him).

Unfortunately, this ending fell flat for me. My main challenge with Tale of the Heart Queen was that the writing felt much different than the first 3 books.

- The first 3 books were fantastic “show don’t tell”, and in this book it felt like the complete opposite at least 80% of the time.

Lor and Nadir’s romance became more about their inner monologue repeatedly confessing their undying love for one another (which is great and so happy to finally get that!!!), but in the last 2 books I felt there was such a better job of proving that love through l their actions vs this book it felt like the only point proving it was saying it.

For me, their romance and dialogue became cheesy and corny and it just diminished their “badass-ness” from the previous books. I get that they had growth and are more vulnerable now, but my experience was that they became corny to the point that they were almost entirely different characters.

- Some plot points/twists truly didn’t make sense to me, or felt like they were missing context. I just felt confused during some parts of the book which made it less enjoyable.

I was also realllllly disappointed that so little time was spent on Lor’s magic and figuring it out when SOO much of book 3 focused on it. It was barely explored, and I still don’t have a grasp on how it works, only that it does. And I guess by the last 10ish(?) chapters she she has control over it, but not really because she did anything to master it…it just happens because she’s bonded, i think?

- finally, so many pieces were wrapped up quickly or unnecessarily. When it was wrapped up quickly I found myself internally screaming “noooo!!” begging for more. The other parts that were wrapped up unnecessarily were random minor subplots and side characters that were sporadically mentioned purely to tie a bow on something that didn’t need it.

While Tale of the Heart Queen wasn’t everything I had hoped, the series overall is fantastic and have characters, magic, and a world I’ll forever love!

In three days time, I devoured this book. The moment Tale of the Heart Queen landed in my inbox, I let out a literal squeal of excitement. Fourth books are a massive undertaking, and as a reader, it is my greatest delight to find an entire series that not only sticks so innately with me but when the author creates the space for readers to soak their toes in the entire realm and truly immerse us in every character’s storyline.
The stunning conclusion to The Artefacts of Ouranos, Nisha J. Tuli’s “Tale of the Heart Queen,” is sure to captivate readers who have been along for the entire journey, especially those particularly attached to soap (all Tuli’s little easter eggs for those who have been along for the whole ride SENT me-so so good). Packed full of page turning twists, compelling characters that usher you to sink further into Ouranos, and a thrilling subplot that had me rushing for the the final page, Tale gives the perfect ending to a beautiful series. The masterful breadth of setting and character that Tuli writes is the most refreshing experience to consume as a reader.
Without spoiling too much (as this is a fourth book and many things can be spoiled-there are mild spoilers ahead), here are some general things I loved about Tale of the Heart Queen:
- An exquisitely stabby heroine (and one of my favorite cinnamon rolls of an MMC)
- SO much more of Lor/Nadir (iykyk)
- Micro tropes (Tuli is the QUEEN of micro tropes and I ate them uppp)
- Immaculate world building
- Chosen one trope, but not in the way you might imagine
- A full cast of characters that I would like to specifically wrap up in tiny little blanket burritos (I was rooting for all of them, but also wanted to tuck them away and keep them from any harm whatsoever)
This was such a luscious blend of world creation, character driven story, and enticing plot. I am SO excited for readers to pick this up-if you’ve been along for all of Artefacts, you’ll love Tale of the Heart Queen.

We truly went from "that bitch took my soap" to "I. Am. The. Fucking. Heart Queen" and I am not sure I could love the journey in between anymore than I already do!

Nisha is so masterful in her writing! The struggles, the angst, dilemma deliberation, and more that each and every character (even the ones we didn't get a POV for) felt authentic and relatable that it wasn't hard to find yourself so captivated page after page after page.

I cannot think of a way to write this review and give the book justice without giving spoilers away, so I will keep this very generalized than I usually do.

This was the perfect ending to a beautiful series! Nisha was able to end this series in a way that did not feel rushed, forced, or full of sunshine and rainbows with a bow on top. Nisha stayed true to the story and her characters from page one until the acknowledgements. She kept us on the journey, on the edge of our seats while biting our nails the entire time, and she did so in a way that once I got to the end I wasn't left with unanswered questions and demanding more because I was disappointed. I was left wanting more because I am not ready to leave these characters behind. I was left wanting more because although I know that the characters all ended up in places they were meant to be, I was still hoping for a glimpse of a line that made me feel that there was more coming. There wasn't and I am okay with that. These characters deserve the stories to be finished and live their lives, because good gracious did Nisha keep them moving.

I loved this series from the very first line (even forced SEVERAL friends to read it for the first line alone), and I cannot wait to dive into more worlds with Nisha in the future!

To say I am a huge fan of the ‘Artefacts of Ouranos’ would be an understatement. Knowing that ‘Tale of the Heart Queen’ is the last book in this series, I took my time to savour it. I am sad it is over - if you haven’t started this series yet add it to your TBR list.

Lor’s internal thoughts in this one had be laughing. Now that her relationship with Nadir has developed, their dynamic was everything. He was supportive and empowered her to take her rightful place.

The amount of males that cried in this novel let me know that fae masculinity is not a fragile thing. They are able to express their emotions and if felt healthy.

‘Tale of the Heart Queen’ had a few surprises and some moving farewells. I think it was the perfect ending to a series that I will keep on recommending to romantasy readers. Lor and Nadir are sticking with me - I am sad it is over, but excited for other readers that are just starting this series.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for sending this book for review consideration.

I am very grateful and thankful to receive an e-ARC for the finale of this series.
The Artefacts of Ouranos series is one that I was instantly obsessed with from the beginning. The series only became better and more complex for me with each book.
The biggest worry for any reader is that the final book in a series doesn't live up to their expectations or the rest of the series. I am happy to report that Nisha absolutely nailed the finale!
Tale of The Heart Queen is full of excitement, intrigue, danger and every emotion. At times I had to put it down only to have a breather from the excitement or worry.
The characters continue to grow, and some you never thought would ever change at all.
Buckle up, readers, and enjoy a very satisfying conclusion to a very exciting and emotional journey.

This was the ending everyone deserved. Prepare to have your heart ripped out (again) and pieced back together. There is astonishing growth in some characters while others are stuck in their outright failure/refusal to grow.

The book is fast-paced but so very long. There’s really no lulls, which is great because I was just itching to figure out how it all ends. Thankfully Tuli tied it all up with a neat little bow.

Spoiler, so beware before you read anymore:
My only complaint is that I wish there could have been more between Gabriel and Hylene in the end. They spent a lot of time together and end up moving away with each other is literally all we get after all the build up and tension.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4

Well I’m sad that this series is over, it’s been such a ride. And I thought this ending really did the series justice. I have to admit though, it took a LONG time for me to get into it. I kind of felt like Lor and Nadir spent so much time apart in the beginning and it got a little boring. But… it really picked up and the ending was so perfect.

Notes: there are so many characters, and not a lot of backstory. I didn’t re-read the other three books before starting this and I have my regrets since I spent like the first 30% of the book confused. I felt like this book really needed a glossary 🤣. I also really have appreciated some of NJTs other books having a recap in the beginning, and I feel this book would have been really well served by having something like that. It’s just a lot to try to remember.

Also I felt like there were some lost opportunities. Like why give Willow magic and then just have nothing come of it? Womp womp. And why have a relationship blossoming between Hylene and Gabriel that goes nowhere? Speaking of Gabriel, that whole character and his motivations are entirely confusing to me. I feel we could have done without his and Rion’s POVs honestly.

But don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it a lot and I’m glad to give this series a sweet send off 🫡 .

Received as an ARC

What a conclusion! In true Nisha fashion, she puts everyone *through it* for most of the book. Somehow more problems keep popping up, but they're not far fetched or unrealistic as far as the storyline goes. People get redemption, people get what they deserve, and we finally get the ending we were promised. I loved all the little callbacks to the earlier books, and the ending really wrapped up nicely while still keeping me guessing how one particular problem was going to solve itself.

Overall a fantastic ending to the series and I'll absolutely miss these characters.

I’m so grateful the wait between the ending of book three and this one wasn’t too long because that was quite the cliffhanger.

My Thoughts:
It’s hard to review series without giving away spoilers from previous books, but this was a beautiful conclusion to such a fun series. The romance was beautiful. I loved the characters. And was pleasantly surprised by a certain redemption arc. There weee fun call-backs to book one, and I just adored how things came full circle.
Beautiful job Nisha. Now on to binge her other series. 😆

“I will follow you until the very end.”

Tale of the Heart Queen is book 4 in the Artefacts of Ouranos series. Since this is the final book of the series I don’t want to have any spoilers or details in my review.

What I will say is that I have loved this series with my whole heart and this conclusion was everything I could have wanted.

100/10 everyone needs to read this series

I don't even know where to start with this, but let me first thank Nisha and Forever publishing for blessing me with the arc of this book, I literally screamed when I saw my email invite. This is one of my favourite romantasy series and after reading this, that opinion has not changed!

This book launches straight in from the ending of book 3, and all my fellow readers will understand the heartbreak of that cliffhanger 😭

We see Lor deal with being hunted by the Aurora king and his army whilst also being manipulated and used by the goddess Zerra. She has all these different tasks to try and achieve with constant curve balls being thrown her way whilst also trying to protect the people she loves and bring the rulers of Ouranos together to save the magic of heart and its people.

Got to give a little shout out to the soap!! IYKYK!! Thank you for that little throw back Nisha I burst out laughing 😂

I'm so sad to have come to the end of this series, I've loved it since book one. On the other hand, I'm also so glad to have read the conclusion and see how all these different story lines and plots we've seen develop throughout the entire series have been brought to an end.
The writing was beautiful, and even with the multiple pov's, it was still easy to keep up with and understand as we begin to see it all come together and all the deceit and secrets revealed. We even get a slither of remorse from an unlikely foe!!
WHAT A CONCLUSION!!!

What a perfect ending to this book! It took me on an emotional ride and I loved every minute of it! There were many unexpected plot twists and I love how strong the FMC in this. As much as I love a strong MMC and Nadir still is, it’s nice to read about an FMC who can still handle situations herself. I Loved this journey! 🤍🤍

If you’re a fan of ACOTAR I think you will love this series.
