Evelyn made it to movie stardom at a very young age and relied on her beauty and envious body to get what she wanted. She tells her life story to journalist Monique, who Evelyn specifically chose to write her memoir. We also get the story of Monique. This is a story about the true love of her life which was kept secret to prevent scandal, and the people in her life that kept her secret. As you get to know her, she’s actually not a good person but still quite intriguing. Evelyn portrays her story- the good, bad and ugly in such great detail with honesty and tells of the sacrifices she’s made. It’s also heartbreaking at times. Reed did such a good job with her research and ties everything up in the end with a nice bow for us....more

The story is told through the eyes of three different women whose lives collide unexpectedly. This story gets right into it from the start. It grabbed me right away and kept me engaged the entire time. Lots of books are written about sisters, but this is by far my favorite. It goes back and forth between Kit and Josie, past and present as they unravel bits and pieces of their past. It’s a fantastic book about self discovery. Other than the father, the men described in this book seem a little too good to be true, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a well written book. The description of New Zealand was absolutely magical. Have tissues handy....more
