Dark secrets are slowly revealed when a wife and baby go missing, but does the husband or the wife have the bigger secret?
Tommy and Teresa have been married for a couple of years and have a baby girl. When they go missing he has no choice but to involve the cops, but doing so could reveal everything he’s been hiding from all these years.
Detective Lindy Jax is on the case. I thought she did a top notch job and wouldn’t mind if this turned into a series following her.
There's another POV that plays an intricate part in the story, and that's all I'm going to say on that.
Overall, the action never lets up for this fast paced thriller. If you like crime thrillers with powerful people that think they're above the law then you might want to give this one a go.
Narration notes: He did a nice job. Since the cop is a woman I would have preferred a female narrator for her parts.

Road trip listen with the family and holy cannoli with mini mint chocolate chips this was a top notch listen. We were happy that we were in a truck and not an airplane.
There are quite a few smarty pants characters to keep track of, exactly who I’d want on the line trying to protect the town and its people. I might have shed a tear, or sixteen, for some of them. Yes, some things were implausible, but the action is non stop, like seriously, it never lets up.
If you like intensely gripping, suspensefully thrilling thrillers then you’ll want to put this one on your never ending TBR.
Narration notes: What a performance! Love the added sound effects from a megaphone, intercom and cb radio, which really gives it that extra pizzazz I enjoy in my audiobooks, especially thrillers.
Husband’s in depth review: Action packed. Some unrealistic scenarios. Good book. Will read this author again.

Caitlin and team are back trying to solve more gruesome murders.
What's better than 1 serial killer? 2! Oh wait, that doesn't sound good at all if it was real life, but it does make for some good, edge of your seat, fast paced fiction reading. Once the plot gets moving, the action is non stop, which I have come to except from this series.
Overall, another suspensefully dark and captivating book in a series that I highly recommend.
Series notes: For sure read the series in order, so you can get a feel for Caitlin.
Narration notes: Hillary is a well seasoned narrator that does a great job.

Brynn is getting ready to marry the man of her dreams, Nathan. She's planning the wedding on her own practically while he is at a high profile murder trial.
We hear from 'the woman' that clearly is trying to sabotage the wedding. But why and who is this mystery woman? There are quite a few possibilities.
Alright so I liked the few twists we got, one was a real nice zinger, but Brynn going back and forth trying to figure out who was doing the sabotaging was a bit annoying. The things that were being done were things that you'd expect in order to get the bride in a frenzy.
Overall, it was fine, a bit slow moving, but I enjoyed the writing well enough that I'm interested in seeing where the next book takes us.
Side note ~ no matter where the author is based, or their nationality, I feel like if the book is based in the USA then proper terms should be used and vice versa. For instance we don’t really call people cows over here, or say chemist.
Narration notes: She sounded a little young, but did a nice job differentiating other characters' voices. I could have gone for a little more emotion at times.
Series notes: The story somewhat continues, so it would be best to read this one before The Missing Bridesmaid.

Rachel & Tom have purchased a big house in Cornwall. Tom has been there for a while overseeing the renovations, while Rachel has been in Manchester with their son, Sam. Finally it's time for them all to be together again, but some people in this town are not too thrilled that Rachel is around.
Whenever we're told the husband is handsome it's not hard to figure out what secrets and lies there might be. What a douche he was. She should've left him when he revealed his big surprise to her. I mean how unsupportive can you be of someones fear? Speaking of that fear ~ took ages to reveal the why after many breadcrumbs throughout.
Can't say I liked any of the characters, even 4 year old Sam got on my nerves a couple of times. I did have the twist figured out, but this author does write an engaging, fast paced story that'll keep you entertained and yelling at Rachel to open her eyes.
Narration notes: Tamsin is a well seasoned narrator, so no complaints. She really gives each character their own voice.

Ryan was clonked on the noggin 5 years ago and girlfriend, Ali, was missing when he woke up. Now he’s in Europe with his law school friends when he sees someone that brings back memories from that horrible night.
Michael is an accountant who got involved with a very dangerous man. I wasn’t sure how his storyline was going to fit in, but I was quite pleased with how it did. Looking back now I'm like duh.
Poppy is the deputy sheriff looking for answers when Ali’s car is found in the lake with 2 bodies inside. I thought she did a great job for her first case.
The prologue was super promising, but the middle was really slow for me. Don’t get me wrong, there was a good amount of action, and there was a nice twist, but it was just a bit too slow moving for me. Even though there was a lot going on I was never fully engaged. I did like how it was all wrapped up, but I could’ve gone for a little more thrilling pizzazz. Jackpot for short chapters.
Narration notes: All the narrators did a fine job. Ryan sounded age appropriate, but could have shown a little more emotion during the action packed moments though.
There is plenty of love for this one, so don't take my word for it.

As part of her research assignment she takes a DNA test. The results are unbelievable and set forth a roller coaster of a ride as we try to piece together how Sloan was once known as Baby Charlotte.
Eric is the sheriff in Nevada trying to get answers about his father, Sandy’s, death 30 years ago. Sloan just might be able to help him get the answers and closure he needs. I don't love romance in my thrillers, but I was actually hoping for a little with these two.
In the past we hear from Sandy and learn more about the early investigation into the Margolis family when Charlotte and her parents went missing. In the present we have a true crime podcaster, Ryder, that is annoyingly helpful.
The dual timelines and multiple POV’s were very easy to follow along with and totally built up the suspense nicely. I was on the edge of my seat throughout waiting to see how Baby Charlotte ended up being Sloan and I was not disappointed. A little implausible with how the pictures came about, but overall this was an utterly shocking and grippingly gripping read.
I was lucky enough to have both the ebook and an audio copy. Both ways worked perfectly well. Narration notes: Vivienne did a fabulous job giving each character a distinct voice.
Maureen & Paul's 17 year old daughter, Meghan, was murdered 10 years ago. Now a mysterious someone has invited everyone that was close to Meghan to a dinner party because they have something to say about what really happened the night she died.
The attendees are: Sam & Alice ~ Meghan's younger sisters. Rebecca ~ Paul's new wife. Cal ~ Meghan's boyfriend who went to prison for the murder. Uncle Jeff doesn't have any chapters told by him, but he's Paul's best friend who has always been a big part of the family, so he's invited, too.
Overall, it's quite predictable, but I was still kept engaged with the full on locked room feel. There's a raging storm with no electric or cell service to help build up the suspense. There was a nice last little zinger that bumped up my rating.
Hubs in depth review: Figured out who did it in the first 13 minutes, however pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns throughout. Overall, enjoyed it.
I was able to listen to a copy as well. Narration notes: You can never go wrong with Brittany as a narrator. She really knows how to build up the suspense.
Rowan is our detective and married to Shepherd. They met when they were in foster care together and have been married for 15 years. Amber is our therapist who is not happy in her marriage to Mark. They share a special needs son, Connor.
Towards the end we get chapters from Rowan's Aunt Jenny, who is in her care and has Alzheimers, and her partner, Kellan, which I liked.
I can't say I was surprised with how the story played out, but I was fully captivated in this thriller. It's super fast paced and well written with a good mix of likable and unlikable characters.

Leo is an attorney accused of murder. He might have a way to stay out of prison if he helps the FBI. I mostly enjoyed his character. He was a bit much with his love of prime numbers, but he provided enough humor that I could overlook that. One thing is for sure, he will protect his brother, Trace, at all costs.
Chris is a FBI agent and a cancer survivor.
Andi is a former cop, now a deputy director of security. She's also Leo's ex-girlfriend.
We hear from Marilyn, Leo's mom, a few times.
There is a lot going on and you can try to pay attention, but there are twists after twists after twists. Luckily they were doled out nicely and not wam wam wam smacking me in the face all at once, which I liked. The multiple timelines are easy to follow along with. It’s a bit repetitive and on the longer side, but I appreciated the short chapters and page breaks to keep the pace steady. I'd recommend it if you like an action packed thriller with some espionage and a character that strives for justice.
Narration notes: I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference. Seems like it would be good with a full cast of narrators.

Lizzy and Owen are in a tough spot financially, so they've temporarily moved in with her mother, which she is adamantly against. She's already suspicious of her and living with her sounds like it's a nightmare with her sneaky and controlling ways. But mom is paying for the wedding, so she'll just have to deal with it for a few weeks.
It's not all about the wedding, though. There's still talk about sister, Shelley's, husband, Rafe, dying on their wedding day last year. Her father being in a care facility gives us another side plot. Lastly, Lizzy's old crush from school has started coming around to help move the story along.
Overall, a solid, fast paced read with some repetition. I totally called the big zinger, but there was a nice one at the end that I wasn't expecting and I think it'll take you by surprise, too.
Narration notes: Tamsin did a wonderful job.

Quite peculiar to live on the same premises as your husbands 1st wife, and she's not allowed to interact with her or the nursing staff either. Quite peculiar indeed. Not overly surprising where the plot took us, but I quite enjoyed the journey to get to the exciting ending. This is my first experience with this author and I really liked it. Cassie & Jon have moved into his childhood home, along with 4 year old, Teddy. Amy inserts herself into Cassie's life by offering to dog sit while Cassie begins a new job. Becca lives next door and is not too happy when she sees John is back in town.
It's obvious Jon, Becca and Amy know each other and the author does a good job of building up the suspense of what happened 10 years ago.
It’s books like this that I’m happy I never have any strangers in my house watching my child or dog. You never know what someone will do when no one is watching. I'd probably install a camera if it were me. All characters were pretty unlikable, except for Suki the dog, of course. Jon was the worst. It's weird, but they all seemed older then 28, not sure why, maybe I expect controlling husbands to be older.
Overall, a solid, fast paced domestic thriller. The twists weren't overall thrilling, but there nonetheless.

Madeline narrates in the past her life with Benjamin and her "friends" up until she falls off a cliff. Rebecca narrates in the now her plans to avenge Madeline's death.
This is what I'm talking about with a revenge plot! Unfortunately, I had every last twist figured out early on, but that did not take away from my enjoyment at all. It was suspensefully fast paced with a perfect ending.

Our main characters are: Will & Shannon, father and daughter, on a flight together when something goes terribly wrong. Chris is the wife and mother, who is also the diver that will go to great lengths to try and save them.
You can tell the author has first hand knowledge of being a flight attendant because this was well thought out with nonstop action! A suspenseful, fast paced thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat biting your cuticles to shreds.

I was able to listen to an audio copy as well. Narration notes: Sometimes it was duet narration and sometimes not, so I would have preferred some consistency on that aspect. Overall, they both did a fine job, though.
*There is plenty of high praise for this one, so my review will have little effect on the overall rating for this super popular author. I'm here to be honest with my thoughts, so here is goes with possible spoilers*
That's quite a gripping prologue!
30 year old Eve is a Math teacher married to 38 year old Nate, the English teacher. 16 year old Addie is in both of their classes. One teacher can't stand her and the other likes her a little too much. Can you guess which is which?
Might I have liked this one a bit more if I wasn't a mother to a 16 year old girl right now? It's not like I have anything to worry about, and I know things like this probably really do happen more often than we know, but this is very inappropriate behavior. Although it still would not have been ethical, making the teenager 18 would have been slightly better. Out of curiosity I looked up the age of consent and in 31 states it's 16 in case you were wondering.
Regarding the bullying ~ I can see why Addie felt like she had to take it and couldn't stand up for herself. It's tough being a teenage girl and add in rumors from a scandal the previous year and it's even harder. So when someone shows a little interest in you it's easy to fall under their spell. I can also see why Kenzie was dishing it out because she was hurting too. If I wasn't already disgusted by how old Addie was it's way worse when we find out Kenzie's age. The manipulation and grooming is really sickening.
Look there is no doubt this author knows how to give us a shocking twist, but this one is very much 'what's good for the goose is good for gander' and I just couldn't believe it. There's a crazy plot hole at the end with the car rides, too, but I won't give anything away with that.
So, I'll just chill over here in outlier land, which is perfectly fine because I enjoy hanging out with my delightful self. Anyway, if I do read this author again I am going to make absolutely sure every character is over 18, maybe even 21 for good measure. I mean I don't even want a couple with a baby just in case.
Narration notes: Leslie did an outstanding job for both female characters. She gave them both a voice and Addie sounded properly aged. Her emotions were on point. Danny doesn't have as many chapters, but he did a fine job too.

William is already unlikable when we meet him in chapter 1. We learn he's having an affair and he cracks his daughter upside the head. He's certainly not winning any husband or father of the year awards IMO.
But then his 9 year old daughter, Avery, goes missing and the neighborhood suspects are mounting up. So many people have secrets and tell lies, which you can probably guess from the title.
There are so many POV's, but I didn't feel lost at all. I thought the detectives did excellent work, too.
A couple of niggles: ~ I didn't like Alice calling Adam, who has autism, weird. ~ are you telling me that no one in this neighborhood has a doorbell camera or any cameras for that matter?
Overall, my mama heart was a thumping. It's not a unique plot by any means, but it was pretty action packed, suspenseful and steadily paced.
Narration notes: I'd recommend listening over reading, if you can, because January is one of the best. She is exceptional at giving each character their own voice, even when there are so many.

Wowza! I can see why this is currently a #1 new release on Amazon. And it's a debut!
The Girl wakes up in a ditch bruised and battered not knowing who or where she is. Wayne says she's his daughter, Mary, and he has all the proof the cops need to release her into his care, even though she has no clue who he is. I was so scared for her. Drew's girlfriend, Lola, is missing and the whole town blames him. No one will listen to him, so he and his two friends, Max & Autumn, take matters in their own hands and search for Lola!
The characters were well developed. The teens didn't act like immature tools. I mean the amatuer sleuthing was a bit implausible, but what were they supposed to do when no one would take these kids seriously. Wayne's creepiness was convincing.
This gripped me right from the start and didn't let go until the crazy ending. It was super fast paced, suspenseful and intense throughout. If this is Megan's debut I don't know how she'll top it in her next books.
The cover and font give off the perfect creepy vibes.
Narration notes: Both of them sounded age appropriate and did a great job. Sophie was properly frantic and convincing as a captive. Robb's anguish was evident throughout.

Natalie, Alexandra, Lucy, Bridget & River have formed a victim of a stalking support group. They have a What’s App thread they use to constantly check in on each other to make sure everything is okay. Then they are down to 4 when Natalie is murdered. They form a plan in order to keep their stalkers at bay. The plan is a good one, but is it good enough to keep the remaining 4 alive?
We get each of their POV’s along with a countdown to the day they think one of them will be murdered next. Besides the stalkees, we have a bunch of other characters to keep track of like their significant others, coworkers and the stalkers, too. This did make it feel long, but there was enough action and dumb choices that kept me reading into the night. The twist was both shocking and not really much so. Overall, middle of the road fine.
I definitely appreciate the author sharing her personal story in the note at the end that gave the whole reasoning behind this book. It gave her some first hand knowledge that she put forth in the character development making the fear they felt seem realistic.
Narration notes: I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference.

Our 4 narrators are: Amanda, whose 6 year old daughter was kidnapped and murdered. Days later her husband is so grief stricken that he takes his own life. Ruth is brutally attacked in her home and thinks every blue eyed man she sees is her attacker. Farrow is our detective that has a desire to work the cold cases that no one else wants. Scott is Ruth's husband.
The characters are not particularly likable, but I was fine with that. I enjoyed Detective Farrow and his partner, Hernandez. They had a great working relationship and were good at their job.
This is my first time reading this author and I can see why he's so popular. He gives us some nice tension and twists. I was totally taken by surprise, so woo hoo for that. Of course there were a couple of eye rolling moments, but overall a solid thriller.
Narration notes: I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference, which is just as well since it probably would have bugged me that there is only 1 narrator.
