The magic system in this duet is so unique and the dark gothic setting was everything!! I will say I am basically dumb when it comes to riddles so yes, they confused me SLIGHTLY, but then it all came together and I am literally just so obsessed.

I wouldn't consider this a happy romance novel in my honest opinion, yes.. there's romance.. but it's not in the way you'd expect. This book is entirely about grief. It ends in the happiest way possible. But, I adored it. I felt myself grieving while reading it and honestly.. I think it's just what I needed to read.
I genuinely don't understand the negative reviews regarding this book. It is a fantastic, heartfelt read. The growth between Elsie and Ben's mother is just... everything and I highly recommend reading it (as well as listening to it on audio)
