I enjoyed this. I laughed so many times cause the MC is hilarious to me. But I have to say, the male MC in this one read the same as the male MC in Dark Notes written by the same author. That’s disappointing. There was no individuality for Magnus’ character, and I was sad about that. Even his faith was kinda an afterthought at times.
Tinsley was written well. She was funny, bold. I do feel like the author wanted to portray her as mature and such to go by the fact that she’s an 18yr old high school student and he’s a 40yr old teacher. I mean Im a slut for taboo, this ain’t that taboo, but maybe forbidden for sure. IRL? Jail. In book life? (IBL) hot as fuck. And I stick by it!
Ok let’s take the time to talk about the need for this author to be poetic and failing miserably. I noted one of those moments in my notes, but she mentioned the title of this book multiple times throughout in nonsensical ways. Like nu uh, it didn’t work baby. “My lessons in sin.” …gurl. Read the book and tell me if the context made sense when you see it for the fifth time.
Overall I enjoyed myself immensely. The author knows how to write erotica well. Knows the type of morally grey MC that we adore. But it had its moments that annoyed me. But I can’t lie and say I didn’t goble this shit up in one day.

⚠️Trigger warning. Human trafficking. Kidnapping. ⚠️
This book dragged on and on. We could’ve done without any of the sex scenes. We could’ve had better character development. This book pushed the story but it was stagnant too, hence the low rating. But technically I liked it as a whole, it just could’ve been orchestrated better.
Pros: the humor was humoring. I laughed my way through this thing and I am pleased with it.
The drama was petty, and cmon, let’s be so for real, this is why we read Tijan in the first place. 1) tragic characters 2) petty drama.
Big plot points were coming through. I enjoyed this. It’s like a bit of a mystery. I wasn’t expecting that ending. That alone is great. The author wasn’t afraid to shake things up. Bet you someone said to her, “we need something BOLD. Give us BOLD.” And this is what we got. Tbh? I approve.
Cons: all of the sex scenes. I was just like ugh. It didn’t add anything to anything.
The side stories were great, but it lacked in pushing certain points forward that would’ve given a better foundation for the big plot points.
The overall drag and slowness of the story. Y’all know my pet peeve: dragging in a book.
Overall a good read though. It could’ve been shorter tho. 3.5 star rating....more

I have read this author many times before over the years, and I’ve read her mafia reads specifically. This book did not reach the level I know and understand this author could be at.
The plot: predictable. The character development: annoying for Charlie. Pretty straight forward overall for everyone. The writing style: chill. Makes it a quick read.
The book itself wasn’t bad. It was to the point and a quick read too. I’m satisfied with the read. My low rating is not because I didn’t like it, but rather it just didn’t blow me away.

Believe it or not, this is my first lesbian romance read. My friend told me that I am lacking in lesbian romance books and she wasn’t wrong. This was recommended by her and I’m not mad at it.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes I did. I loved the characters and it was angsty and sexy too. Was it the best I’ve ever read? Unfortunately not.
Allow me to explain.
The biggest thing that brought down my rating was the plot. The plot was typical and I could guess the entire book from the very beginning. I think there was one twist that I didn’t get, but it wasn’t that serious for me to be like “ wow I love this book!”
I feel like for any book that is banking on plot to accelerate the characters, the author has to put more effort in the orchestration of the plot line. This did not happen here. There were certain details that were sprung throughout the book that wasn’t actually explained. Don’t get me wrong. This plot was easily predictable, but it would’ve been nice for more explanation on certain details that the author brought to my attention that was never explained before or after.
One of the things I enjoy about romance novels, such as these, is the art of writing the actual erotica. Don’t get me wrong, I think the author did very well in writing the scenes, but it was very one-sided. For any intimate scenes either it be MF, MM, or others, It is written like a choreographed dance, which involves all parties that are present. The only person that actually had any type of happy ending in this book was Nyx. I never actually read Ax even being touched se happy by Nyx. This was wasted potential on the dynamic of a f/f sex scene. Also, I’m new to the community so don’t shoot me, maybe I’m missing something?
Overall, I think the saving grace of this book the dynamic between Nyx and Ax. These two were so good together and were written really well.
I was teetering on the edge of giving this book four stars, but overall the book was OK. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst either so I’m gonna give it 3.6 stars.
P.S. Asher was a little spoiled boy and his character was a waste of actual ink on any paper or mark on any kindle. His character wasn’t even written well. His character was half assed and that’s a shame for one of the main guys in this book. Also brought down my rating.
P.S.S. I wouldn’t consider this a dark romance. Some bdsm but also not that serious. Nah this was very very tame...more

This book wrapped up this series so well. I *almost* cried at times. I definitely laughed, and I most definitely was enjoying myself.
One of the things I admire about this author was the character development for all of the main characters. They were done with care where I felt like they were real people rather than fictional characters. I love that. Four books and I still got new things out of these people. So good.
Overall I have to reiterate how happy I am to have read a series finale that wrapped up each and every plot point dropped in throughout the books. I would have loved to get more of Niall, he deserves his own book. Just saying. But every plot point touched was wrapped up in a pretty bow. Allowed me to end an era ...more

So why was this better than the first book? LIKE IM MORE INVESTED THAN EVER.
Miss. Story freaking grew up in one book my friends. She became who I longed for her to be! But when Killian said “She either leaves or fucks shit up.” I agree. But her development?! Guys I’m very happy. Or did the first book give a low expectation and so when I read this book it seemed as though it was this great thing but maybe was average? ….damn.
But I had so many emotions literally in battle with each other for these characters and also these predictable situations.
Plot was basic. But the characters are everything. Hated Killian then all of sudden he has a heart. Still crazy but not that crazy not to finish a job. (Read the book to figure out what I mean). Dimitri my man! Became a side character then the author remembered he had a story line. So good. Tristian is my dude. Tbh I now love each one of these boys evil and caring sides. They still too much in real life but all of them can get it.
The writing was a step up from the last book. *claps* still had the bad porn acting going on with the dialogue but I see the cunning and conniving tendencies of all of them! Like now we are finally getting the depth to these characters.
4stars. Very invested. Very much raging over this book with my book besties. Definitely reading the rest of the series.
PS. I was 80% correct. Also fertile, virginity, ect? What is up with these royals man. So archaic but sooo invested.

People said this book was dark. Dark who? People said this book was delicious. Didn’t even touch my taste buds. Let’s be honest this book didn’t even give me true mafia goodness that you usually expect in a mafia romance.
You know why I gave it 2 stars? Because the ending actually was good. Shocking, kinda, and also anticipated by me. But wasn’t bad. But why did it take an entire book for it to get good?
When you read this book you will see that Jess is a Parole Officer. She has a gun and a badge and she lives and breaths her job. I’m sorry, correction, her job was her entire identity in this book. Jess had no depth. No individuality. Shit happened in her life…..and she’s a PO. I love how the author tells us each chapter, each conversation, each interaction. Did you ever forget Jess was a PO? Tijan will remind you, no worries.
Trace was Trace. Mafia goodness. I’m going to be honest here, he had just as much depth as Jessie girl.
This plot line, character development was lazy. If anyone asks me what book of Tijan you should read, I will not be recommending this. She could’ve done better. Maybe mafia writes just isn’t her thing ...more

Was it a great book/series? It wasn’t the best of its kind, no. But I was intrigued. I was invested. I probably will not do a reread anytime soon. It was your average teenage mafia with sex, drugs, and drinking throughout. Nothing that “WOW” in the book tbh.
Thankfully this book had multiple events that happened to progress the plot. The last two books were unclimatic until the end of the book, just so the plot can continue. This book actually had something throughout.
Ok, this series is an erotica. The characters are having sex in every chapter. Is it good sex? It’s the same thing over and over. Nothing that jumped out to be the best written. Also, the same soooo hue through sex. Nothing new. Here’s my thing. I love eroticas. I read them for years, but I’ve come to a point in my reading career that I want purposeful scenes in books. Either it pushes the characters or the plot or the overall tone of the book. In this series/book, majority of the scenes were unnecessary. I’m going to be honest, I fast forwarded in this book because I was so annoyed.
The plot got better yes. But did I expect everything that happened? I excepted half of it. So…yeah.
Will I finish this series and read the last book with Emma’s and Theo? I think I’m good for right now. I read the snippet in the last book and it seems like the same characterization just with two different characters. I think I want something new now.

To start things off, for some reason I was more annoyed with this book. I thought it was written in a messy way from beginning until the plot got to where the author wanted it to be. It just seemed messy.
A-also y-you k-know, I was annoyed with the enforced stutters throughout the book. Here and there? Sure! But it’s so often that I just thought the author was trying to create the nervousness of the characters in a forced way. To me, this seems like a writing flaw and it’s pure laziness to me. (I’m reading the third book right now and it’s all throughout that too! Ugh)
Let’s talk about the plot. The messy messy plot. Yes these teens like sex. They have more sex than most adults my age. Which is fine, it’s a hot and steamy book. The plot though? All over the place. The characters went back and forth with their decisions which in turn changed the plot points constantly, and not in a good way. And then when the climatic scene happened? It’s at the end of the book! Like the last book too! Ughhhh.
The characters were the same as before. The only development I really saw was Seb and Stella and Callie. Everyone else is pretty much the same. That’s not bad, it’s just is what it is.
Overall though, I was intrigued. It wasn’t all bad. I laughed at parts. I am invested. It was a hot book. And I will finish this series because it doesn’t take me that long to read it. This is the first series by this author, maybe I’ll read another just to see if it’s the same writing style.

Bro what the fuck did I just read!? All good things, all good things. Allow me to explain.
First off, how does these 18 year olds have a wilder sex life than literally anyone I know…or myself?! Literally I’m not lying how wild their sex lives and social lives are. All to say this was a hot read and I enjoyed it immensely.
This book has a tendency to be on the edge of adult characters with somewhat childish drama. Makes sense. Not hating just recognizing it. I thought it was funny at times tbh.
The shock at the end makes sense, but I was shook for sure. Like it just made me laugh out loud. Lol it’s not funny, I know, but to me it had a sense of hilarity to it.
Ok let’s talk this character development. Because I feel like there’s a bit of a flaw and this flaw had me deduct a half a star for it. Let’s talk:
There’s a point in the book where the characters flip a different emotional switch in the last 15% or so, but it was rather sudden, unexpected, and not explored throughout the read. Due to this sudden change, it fit with the storyline but didn’t fit these characters (specifically Stella and a little of Seb too).
Other than this I was rather intrigued, definitely involved in the lives of these kids/adults, and I will definitely keep reading.
Again, why do these 18yr olds have such an active lifestyle portrayed. Like these people was lit the entire time lol ...more

I was not only annoyed with the characters, the predictable plot line, and also the phony dialogue-I was annoyed with this authors writing. You know why? I just KNOW Ker Dukey has written better.
I was really liking the book at first. When it first started I loved the darkness both characters possessed. As the story went on though I was rather annoyed. The dialogue between Luca and Alyssa was soooooo phony.
“Fat” this “fat” that. “My queen.” “My dark king.” When none of this dialogue made sense. It was phony and forced. Them loving each other when it did? Did. Not. Make. Sense. Is it just me? Please tell me I wasn’t the only one feeling this way.
The plot? Ugh. I’ve read or seen it before. Nothing knew. The author put in some gruesome scenes to spice it up, but this can’t save a plot needing assistance.
I want it to be known that I guessed who the traitor was in the beginning. Sooooooooo, maybe predictable.

This was written very well for a novella. Had so much in the short book but all of details were purposed for sure. I saw the connections in past books.
India R. Adams is a fabulous writer. She has ventured into the darker side of writing for the majority of her newer books, which I love because she writes in a way that redeems her broken characters. It’s not just sitting in the trauma.

So, I was intrigued by this book. Intrigued by the characters, especially Sal and Angel.
I love those two and their dynamic. Such a surprise I tell you! I loved them, but for how close they were I was always wondering when THEY would get together. Like it was confusing for how it turned out you know? Like I wanted them to be more but I guess not?? Or yes? I don’t even know.
Isabella! She is a diamond and I appreciate her development. I appreciate her undying love. Truly love her.
Scarlett. My girl! My Star! Her character was developed with such care.
Overall I loved this, but I was wanting more from Sal and Angels relationship, but also it makes sense too, but I still desired more. As a reader, I was satisfied.

So, sadly, that realization alone made the story not as enjoyable as it should’ve been. It was new, and it didn’t seem original to me so I was bored with same outcomes and standards. Nothing truly shocked me or amazed me in this book.
No worries! It was a good book! I think the strength in this book was the dynamic between the main characters. Not the development of the characters themselves per say, but the interaction between them. Bastian and Ari played off of each other so well. I gotta give the author props for that.
When this started out, I was majorly bored. But that’s not what brought my rating down, rather the unoriginal plot that seemed done before.

I loved this book though no doubt. I have always loved mafia books and I liked this one. Loved the character development specifically. I can say that these characters grew into themselves very well, and that is only because they were written well. So I give props to the author for that relief.
The erotic parts were written well too, but because this book is considered new adult to me, the book and the plot didn’t need all of the sex scenes because the book as a whole wasn’t THAT type of book if that makes sense.
Awesome read and can’t wait for the next. Hopefully these mafia peeps can actually fight like mafia peeps in the next few books. 4.5 star rating....more

I feel as though for this book there were too many names and such to try to follow that were wayyy to similar. It took until about 25% in the book did I follow what they were talking about name wise.
The plot was ok for a mafia book. I feel like it could have had more added to it to make it like no other mafia book. Even focusing on different plot points to express more on would have made it better. It’s not bad, it just needed more to make it really good in my book.
The characters were written well, but the character development of some characters that seemed to have a bigger role weren’t developed the way that they should have for the significance they have within the book or the families.
I’m indifferent at the moment to try to see if I enjoyed it like other mafia books I love, so my star rating is four star rating, and I’m being generous at the moment with how I wrote this review.
