And then somewhere along the way I absolutely fell in love with this story and these characters. They actually have a really cute, genuine, wholesome romance, and yes — it does feel a little insta love at times, but it just made me feel so giddy and happy and I ADORE them. So much that I just dropped so much money buying all the rest of the volumes as soon as I finished it.

This story follows Reed and Charlotte. Charlotte finds this wedding dress that was Reed’s ex’s dress, and she finds him online and goes to one of his house showings (he’s a realtor) and then she gets hired for his company unknowing that it’s his company and we get this cute office romance. As I said, the beginning was really great, Charlotte was cracking me up and I loved all their cute little character quirks like her air typing and their fuck-it lists and their banter was great. Iris is also my favorite character in this book by the way.
But then we get to the halfway point and the story just starts to drag. They have this constant push and pull and hit and cold and it gets so annoying. I hate that Charlotte is the one chasing him this entire story and he keeps pushing her away and being a dick over and over again - it got old really fast. The ending felt very uninspired and cliche and it brings nothing new to the table as far as romances go....more

I was interested in reading more F/F romances and this cover is so gorgeous and I was fooled once again by a pretty cover. This is a very basic straight girl meets lesbian girl story and it was very cliche and full of stereotypes and the characters were all one dimensional... and idk. I get so sick of reading books like this. This story could've had some potential if these characters had been more fleshed out and not so cringe-worthy. Also, why was the main character Katie Daniels soooo judgy. Was it just me? I was like damn what the fuck? She actually said this when she walked into a lesbian bar: "Plenty of these women looked like women." Like wow Katie it's probably because they ARE women. And she kept repeating how "these people are not her people" it just seemed so shallow. I wish there were better written F/F romances out there....more

Damn, this book is heavy. One thing this book does really well is describing a character who has mental illness. I wasn't expecting this book to get as dark as it did and those scenes weighed so heavily on my heart. I really enjoyed this book and I think Theo and James have such a beautiful, real connection.
Theo has got to be one of the most inspiring characters I've ever read about. I love how sensitive he is, how open-minded, positive and optimistic he is. He's also a writer and I found him extremely relatable in that sense. One of my favorite lines from Theo is when he says: "I'm not just a reader or a writer; I inhale written words like they're my oxygen. It's not a hobby. It's a passion. People intrigue me. Life intrigues me. I see a story behind every pair of eyes I meet, history in every voice. I'll see someone wearing a smile and wonder what put it there. Words allow me to immerse myself in a whole other world. I get to become a different person." I LOVE that. I couldn't have said it better myself. I love that Theo is intrigued by life and curious about people and their stories in the same ways that I am. Also when he says: "Maybe that's why I write romance. I'm a dreamer at heart. If I can't have it in real life, I'll have it on paper instead." And honestly I can relate to that so hard. I'm addicted to writing romance even though I've never had real romance in my own life, I totally get it.
This book describes mental illness in a very real way, and I appreciate that nothing is sugar coated. James describes it in this way: "Some people might say I have a screw loose in my brain, but I think that screw is missing altogether. It can't be tightened. I can't be fixed." and I think that's a great way of describing what mental illness is like. This book really shows the struggles of not only having a mental illness yourself, but dating someone and loving someone who suffers from a mental illness. It doesn't only affect the person who has it, it affects everyone around them, and this book did a great job of showing that.
“Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.” [image]
This book was pretty much an emotional roller coaster from about the middle until the end, but I loved all parts of this book. The way their romance began in the beginning of this book was so adorable, and I shipped it so hard from the beginning. Even though James was a total asshole to Theo in the beginning, he's the good kind of asshole, the love-able kind of cocky asshole. I just adored every scene they had together.
Also, all the side characters in this book are very strong, like Tess, Theo's lesbian best friend and room mate. Max, James's brother and Tom, Theo's brother. All of these characters are well fleshed out and play an active role in this story which I really appreciated.
Overall this book is heartbreaking and beautiful and I ship Theo and James so hard. This is the first book I've ever read from this author but it certainly won't be my last.

I feel so giddy over how much I loved this book. This is the best romance I've read since The Hating Game and I guarantee if you love The Hating Game then you will also love this book. HUGE THANK YOU again to Stephanie Sprinkle for recommending me this book!
This book follows Drew, a divorce attorney and Emerie, a marriage counselor when she accidentally rents his office space while Drew is away on vacation and gets conned. He comes back from vacation to find her in his office and she thinks he's a burglar and it's hilarious and adorable and she realizes she's paid a stranger ten thousand in cash for an office that isn't even available for rent. So he tries to help her out and lets her stay in his office space for a while until she can get back on her feet, and a cute, flirty romance ensues. I am obsessed with cute office romances and this book has the BEST office romance with so much sexual tension, it is wonderful.
I feel like the title and cover of this book are a little misleading because it makes it seem as if it's going to be one of those new adult books with sex being the only major plot point, but OMG this story had so much going on. There's a huge plot twist about Drew's character about half way through the book that changes everything about him and only made me fall for him even more. (view spoiler)[We find out he has a six year old son named Beck who he discovered isn't actually his biological son but he's raised him his whole life and he's so dedicated to him it's the cutest shit ever. (hide spoiler)] I loved the slow burn romance that takes place with Drew and Emerie, it's definitely over a long period of time and in the beginning she's interested in this other guy named Baldwin who never shows her any interest. I loved their banter about whether marriage can really last and it's ironic because her job is counselling married couples so they can last and work it out and his job is a divorce attorney and fighting out the legal shit when a couple decides to call it quits. So their ideas about marriage are very different obviously which makes for some great conversation.
I just loved this book. Just like The Hating Game it has the perfect combination of sexy, fun, cute and humor all wrapped into an office romance with sexual tension and a charming lead male character that made me swoon constantly. I couldn't help but picture this as a romantic comedy movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. (I mean her name is Emerie in this and he constantly calls her "Em" AND they mention constantly that she's a red-head so how could I not???) Anyways, I ADORED them together and they've very quickly become a new OTP for me.
I can't believe this is the first book I've ever read from this author. Her writing is so fucking good. I guarantee I'll be reading more from this author as soon as freaking possible. The pacing of her writing is perfect and she has a great sense of humor with loveable characters and I LOVE IT. Highly recommend this! If you love a good romance, do yourself a favor and read this book....more

Christina Lauren is one of my favorite authors of all time, so it kills me to say I didn't really enjoy this book. I see a lot of people already comparing this book to The Hating Game but the only thing this book has in common with The Hating Game is that it's an office romance that follows a male and female lead who are competing for the same position. This book follows Evie and Carter and they are both talent agents in Hollywood, trying to find the next big thing in Hollywood. This storyline should be right up my alley because I love reading books that take place in Hollywood and involve the movie scene, but this book ended up being kind of boring....
I didn't really care for either Evie or Carter in this book, and I especially didn't care whether or not they ended up together. I didn't see the chemistry between them, which is shocking because Christina Lauren has written some of my favorite fictional couples ever, but this one just didn't do it for me. Also, this story is so much more focused on the work and the business an their jobs than on the actual romance itself - which made it incredibly boring for me at times. The way Evie and Carter would pick on each other was immature and childish, in an obnoxious way that got on my nerves. And this story is so repetitive, with their love/hate relationship for each other. It got frustrating after so many times.
The one thing I really liked about this book is how it talks about women vs. men in the office and the sexism that happens all the time. It really dives deep into this topic, and at times I thought it got a little too political for a new adult romance, but I appreciated it nonetheless.
The ending was very predictable, I saw it coming from a mile away, and it was cheesy. I'm just completely shocked that I didn't love this. I barely even liked it. I would recommend Christina Lauren's Wild Seasons series over this, or The Hating Game by Sally Thorne if you're looking for a good office romance. Unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me.

I just finished reading this book for the second time and aklsjdlakjsa. It was SO GOOD. Lucy and Josh are literally the cutest and I listened to the audiobook this time (which was absolutely fantastic by the way) and ALKSJDLKAJS. THIS STORY IS SO CUTE. I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading and I love their witty banter and the fact that they work in publishing together and just EVERYTHING about this book makes me happy. I think I'm going to plan to reread this every couple of years, it's just so great!
Original Review: This book is so cute. It's the perfect combination of sexy and cute and fun. This book is like a sexier version of Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, which is one of my all time favorite books. THANK YOU to Stephanie for recommending this book to me, I freaking loved it. This book is light and fluffy and it's the perfect romantic comedy! I kept picturing Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as the leads in this for some reason (probably because I love their chemistry and I could see them playing these characters in a movie version of this.)

This book follows Lucy and Josh, two people working for a book publishing company who share an office and can't stand each other. They hate each other, and every time they are in a room together they bicker and pick fights and it's extremely entertaining. One of them is going to get promoted to become the boss of the other, which only motivates them to compete and hate each other more. But the sexual tension between these characters is off the charts, and I loved watching their romance develop and grow over time. I thought the office romance might be cheesy, but it was the cutest fucking thing ever. I loved all the scenes that took place in the office, and how Lucy had mesmerized the colors of all of Josh's work shirts. The office decides to go paint-balling in an effort for all the employees to get to know each other better and it's so entertaining and fun to read about.
Of course, this book did have a few cheesy moments, but I didn't even care because I adored these two characters so much. I love that Lucy is short and tiny and nice to everyone (maybe too nice sometimes, I can relate to this) and Josh is tall and huge and he's a dick most of the time. Josh isn't the kind of asshole that I can't stand though, he's more playful about it and I absolutely adore him. The second half of this book had some predictable moments (view spoiler)[I had predicted that Josh had previously dated his brothers bride as soon as he started acting weird at the wedding. I don't know why, I just got a feeling. But I think this was meant to be shocking for the reader to discover but I had seen it coming. (hide spoiler)] but that didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book. I especially loved those scenes towards the end when (view spoiler)[Lucy is sitting at the table with Josh's family and all hell breaks loose and Josh's Dad is going off on how Josh should've been a doctor and all this shit, and Lucy went off on him and completely shut him the hell up. It was beautiful to see her defend him like that. I knew she was in love with him after she did that and it was amazing. (hide spoiler)] I love the way this author described Josh, I was completely head over heels for him. "The rounded caps of muscle on his shoulders balance on smoothly curving biceps. His skin glows with health: honey gold, flawless. The deep lines of his collarbones and hips are an impressive frame. In between a series of individual muscles, each representing a goal set and box ticked. Flat, square pectorals with rounded edges. The skin of his stomach pulls tight across the kind of muscles I usually stare at during Olympics swimming finals. His hips have ridges that point toward his groin, obscured in suit pants." Like DAMN. I was swooning.
(view spoiler)[I loved their first kiss in the elevator. It was so unexpected and intense and DAMN. That was one of the hottest first kisses I've ever read in a book. I love how Josh told her to go on a date with Danny and kiss him but if he couldn't kiss her as well as he could, then she can't kiss him again. I love when Lucy got sick after paint ball and Josh had to come take care of her in her apartment as she threw up and was sick for a whole weekend. In exchange she promised to be his date to his brothers wedding. I love the back story of Josh's family wanting him to become a doctor and his Father being disappointed in him no matter what he did. My heart hurt for Josh during all those scenes with his Father. I love how Lucy would sneak to Josh's apartment at night after work and I love how Josh's bedroom was painted a blue-ish girly color. I appreciated how Josh wanted to take things slow with her and not have sex right away (and I know it's because in the past he mentioned his old girlfriend only wanted him for his body which is ridiculous). When they finally had their first sex scene right after the wedding it was sexy and intense and worth the wait. I loved it, they are so cute. I also loved the shower scene in the morning in the hotel. You can tell Josh really loves her by the way he talks to her, it's so sweet. And that scene where Lucy goes off on Josh's Dad at the breakfast table was AMAZING. I was speechless just like all the characters were. I'm so happy she defended him. In the end I'm happy Josh resigned before he could ever be offered the boss position because he knew this job was Lucy's dream and it didn't mean that much to him. (hide spoiler)]

This book follows a divorce attorney named Jacob Snowden who has been hurt so many times and has difficulty trusting anyone in a romantic relationship to the point where he has closed himself off from the world. Wylde is a wedding planner and he has just moved in across the hall from Jacob's office and tension rises as Wylde and Jacob argue and try to figure out how to work across the hall from each other in peace. Jacob is very confrontational and he always seems angry, but Wylde is curious about him and thinks there is more to him than just the frown on his face.
This story took me by surprise, because it started off so slow. I was reading this book on and off for weeks because I couldn't get into it and I disliked the writing style so much in the beginning and I thought the main characters were so hard to relate to and I just wasn't enjoying it... until around the 100-ish page mark when the story finally picks up. This is definitely a slow-build romance, extremely slow build. Which I actually prefer, this is far from insta-love.
I adore Jacob and Wylde's romance so much. It takes a long time for anything to happen between them, but when it finally does, oh my gosh, they're so adorable. I enjoyed all the drama with Jacob's back story in Phoenix, Arizona and I really felt terrible for Jacob throughout most of this story. Of course, I'm a sucker for a good office romance, and this book definitely has that appeal. I think it was interesting that this book showed all of Jacob's previous relationships before we are introduced to Wylde. I think it might've worked better to start the story when he's already a lawyer and show flashbacks of his relationships with Mark and Patrick, but that's just me being nit-picky.
I really did love this story, even though it is a slow start and I did have some issues with it, I really did enjoy it. I ship Jacob and Wylde so hard. (view spoiler)[Lol when they were having sex and the blanket caught on fire and he's like: "sex sent me to the ER" I was dying. Also that was so fucking depressing when Jacob's Dad died suddenly of a heart attack and he was dead in his backyard for days before anyone found him ): and then seeing Wylde be there for Jacob was so beautiful. Jacob and Wylde fell for each other because they were there for each other when they needed it the most and it was so beautiful. That was sad seeing Jacob realize he didn't want to die alone like his Dad. ALso, that was so sad when Jacob won that case for the Dad to have custody of the kids and then the Dad beat the kids half to death and he blamed himself ): I'm happy Wylde helped him through that but damn that was intense. What a terrible situation. Also, the ending was so cute with him meeting Wylde's family and them getting married. :) (hide spoiler)]...more

Attachments has easily become one of my favorite books ever. It feels like you are watching a romantic comedy from the 90's which I love! This is the 4th book I've read from her, and I've finally caught up on all her books so far, and it might be my favorite from her. Rainbow Rowell's writing is flawless and my favorite thing about her characters is that her characters are so relatable.
I just loved and adored this story so much, so much more than I was expecting to. Lincoln is so awesome, and he is very relatable because of how awkward he is and anti-social, I totally get it. I am the same way and I love reading about characters I can relate to so easily. Beth and Jennifer are also amazing, hilarious characters. I felt like I knew them from their emails, just as Lincoln said he did. I love the fact that Beth is a movie critic because I have a huge passion for films and movies, and I love that I share the same passion as she does. I was just a little kid in 1999, so I enjoyed reading about the late 90's from an adults perspective, and the excitement about the "millennium" when we celebrated the year 2000 and all that. It sounds exciting. I wish I remembered living through that.
I highlighted so many different quotes and cute moments that it felt as if I might as well highlight the whole damn book. I enjoyed the plot twists that we discovered through the emails and it was so interesting to learn about new characters through their emails. I just really really really loved this book. And it's so great that I finished reading this book the morning of my 20th birthday, today. It's a wonderful memory that I'll remember forever. :)
