Woah , Ok I did NOT expect to enjoy this little mystery as much as I did!
This was a bone chilling mystery with a classic feel , I felt as if I was tunWoah , Ok I did NOT expect to enjoy this little mystery as much as I did!
This was a bone chilling mystery with a classic feel , I felt as if I was tuning into an episode of Murder She Wrote but in modern times .
The Blue Hour is a slow burn mystery , atmospheric at times , filled with love, betrayal and murder which in my opinion is everything I want in a mystery.
Lets talk about the beautiful character building , not only did the author do a great job painting the canvas for us and setting the tone around these complex characters ,the author actually made it hard for me hate these characters as awful as they were , I felt sorry for them !
Hawkins also displayed many red herrings weaved throughout the story , that it had me guessing every possibility I could think of!!
Becker is an Art curator and gets caught up in the works of the famous artist Vanessa Chapmans . When a bone is on display as part of an art piece , it comes to fruition that this is a human bone and can not be part of the exhibit .
Becker finds himself turning into a detective and opening up a big can of worms as he embarks on a trail of clues in letters left behind by the late Vanessa.
When Becker makes his way back to Vanessa's home that is now occupied by Vanessa's dear friend Grace , we are taken on a journey of betrayal and heart break , by sifting and reading through old journal entries made by Vanessa , and one thing is clear in this discovery, someone knows who that bone belongs too, the question is what will that person do to hide the truth and is it worth risking your life for ??
If you like classic mysteries with beautiful and descriptive writing , that will keep you gripping each page to reveal the truth and appreciate a good slow burn with twist after twist then i suggest you add The Blue Hour to you TBR!
I did this as a buddy read and highly recommend doing the same it made for a fun read together !

This toxic thriller takes us on a trip through the the world of psychedelic therapy to treat addictionsThis is a Thriller with an Important message !
This toxic thriller takes us on a trip through the the world of psychedelic therapy to treat addictions with a lot of deaths along the way.
High Society is a page turner crime mystery that grazes the topic of the global epidemic around substance abuse and that addictions come in all forms. I loved how the author was able use a current topic that is not discussed enough and was able to turn it into a deadly thriller with so much realism.
With out giving too much away the main character Holly is psychiatrist who is using her expertise in the psychedelics to help treat her patients to block and end their addictions .
Holly has an elite group of wealthy patients that call themselves "The Tribe" who's wealth backgrounds vary from famous musicians , lavish careers , or born into money.
"The Tribe" is a toxic bunch I tell yah and they have all kinds of crazy addictions . When one of the group members makes an accusation against Dr. Holly Danvers , well things start to get twisty and someone's life is cut short followed by many more deaths!!
I have to say the author did an excellent job as I dashed through this story so quickly and just when I thought I had the suspect figured out Daniel threw in another red herring to keep me digging for more, as the author completely conned me on this one !
Although at times the story seemed a bit far fetched with the use of "Psychedelic's" through IV to treat addiction, it totally worked for the story , and after reading the story I did some research and sure enough there are some studies and trials being done showing it can help and reduce addictions .
This book really had me thinking a lot , only if this really could be a new age break through to help those that need it !
The only thing I did not like in the book , was I did have problems relating to the character at times she out right annoyed me , but it was so slight that it did not stop me from devouring this twisted page turner .
I really think fans of True Crime and Harlan Coben movies will be "Addicted" to this read and YES pun intended ! ** Trigger warnings to Addictions , Trauma , Drug Abuse and sexual abuse **
Thank you Netgalley , Simon & Schuster Canada and Daniel Kalla for this Digital ARC!!

This is my second novel by this author Noelle and what I have learned after reading Gray After Dark is that she will be an auto buy for me from now onThis is my second novel by this author Noelle and what I have learned after reading Gray After Dark is that she will be an auto buy for me from now on .
Noelle's novels are fast paced gripping reads and when turning the pages your senses seem heightened and as each page goes by you can feel your heart clambering in your chest!
"I pressed my body tighter against the trunk of the big Douglas Fir and listened . The lodgepole pines surrounding the cabin creaked in the chilly breeze, whispering a warning. The underbrush rustled, hinting at the creatures seen and unseen. Some hunters. Some prey. Some both. No footsteps . No voices ....what was taking so long ?"
Miley Petrowski was a biathlon athlete that is mending an injury from several years ago and is determined to race again in the Olympics . While navigating her love for Brent her teammate , she decides to head to the acres of Frank Church alone , to sort her thoughts and to take a on summer job and retrain taking advantage of the hundreds of acres full of hiking trails to run through .
Miley is stubborn and despite her injury is still quit fit and does not give herself enough credit. One day she finds a trail that leads to a beautiful secluded little lake in the mountains and takes relief to take a cold swim to relieve her aches and pains . This is where I suggest you wear your seatbelt and buckle up because this is where things get wild and intense! Noelle is abducted by a father and son living in the woods off the grid and what transpires next is a lot of gasping while your anxiety is put through a test and will blow the roof off your house!
A few times I rolled my eyes during these short chapters catching myself saying yah right , but shame on me as , it wasn't until I was finished the book that I learned that the story was inspired by real events that took place back in 1984 when Biathlete Kari Swenson was abducted . While the author stresses that the story is inspired by Kari's resilience and tenacity it is complete fiction , but the book sent chills up and down my spine multiple times just imagining for a minute how terrifying it would have been!!
You need to read this book for yourself to see what happens !!
Thank you Netgalley, Dynamite Books and Noelle W Ilhi for this bone chilling digital ARC!...more
