This book was nothing like I expected. Judging by the title and cover it seemed pretty tame but the more I read on, the more I realized that this author had balls, and God Almighty he was using them! I enjoyed all the little quips and snark in the story, however I felt like the main character was a bit of a judgemental bitch.
I suppose it is my Canadian side that is rather flummoxed to see one so young be so bitter and callous towards perfectly nice people. In the end I did warm up to Courtney, I suppose it was because her bitchiness rubbed off on me.
Overall I found this to be a fun and addicting read and while I did have some issues with the characters behaviour I still had a great time with this book.

Comedy is so subjective that I don't even check reviews when picking out such books because it's just too difficult to rate. There are many popular humour books that I absolutely hate, luckily this was not one of them.
I often have a hard time with female comics(I know I know I'm betraying my gender) but seriously I just don't find most female comics funny. There seems to only be one available subject for these women and that is sex(usually going on and on about what a "big whore" they are...Amy Schumer I'm looking at you).
What I enjoy(and what this book delivers on),is the other less popular but still entertaining subject of "bad mom humour", and I must admit that I am a sucker for this.

Four: The Traitor (Divergent, #0.4):Out of all of the novellas, this is my favourite. Although this series did dampen my love of Four. I thought it was stupid how he knew everything and did hardly anything to prevent it.
I was very annoyed at how he rejected leadership because he didn't want to be a pawn, yet he was too shortsighted to realize that he was still a pawn working in the control room, just one without power...really didn't understand his thought process.

I was hoping it would go in a different direction but I'm still intrigued to find out what happens next. The only thing I didn't like about this book was that there were way too many coincidences for me, and it really strained the believability. I'm okay with one big coincidence as a twist, but when you scatter them around like candy it gets to be a bit too much.
I loved the concept of the prison nation, I felt that it was realistic and I really liked Millie, even if she was a bit (okay very) naive.
Overall I really enjoyed this, although I did have some issues,I still think it is worth a read. If you like YA Dystopian (and are not sick of it yet) I would recommend this book. 3.5/5

I would recommend this book for girls between the ages of 12-14.

My main issue was Mia, she was such a MASSIVE bitch. I truly hated her. She was a cruel, selfish, ingrate who literally cared about no one but herself. As for Zac, he was okay, although I found him kind of boring and nothing more than a crutch for Mia's abuses.
If you're looking for a teenage love story look elsewhere, these two protagonists don't even have enough chemistry to be worthy of the shared title. 2/5

I thought that the subject matter was fascinating albeit hard to believe it was based on real life. The author has obviously researched the Jewish faith extensively.
I enjoyed the main character although found her strict way of life hard to relate to, but still I could appreciate it. I did have a little trouble with all of the Jewish terms, with which I was not familiar with but the glossary at the end of the novel helps with this.
Overall I would recommend this book , although I would caution that unless you have an interest in ancient Judaism you may find this novel a little dry, however the mystical properties of this story may make up for it. 3.5/5

I think this is a good novel for tweens to read, because that is around the time that girls start getting boy crazy. I'm Not Your Other Half stresses the importance of keeping your own identity and hobbies even after starting a relationship with a boy.
The only thing I didn't like was that the women in the story acted as though they were living in the 1950's. I can understand a teenage girl having the world revolve around a boy, but for grown women to act like nothing matters but a man's happiness was somewhat disturbing.
Overall I think this is a good book for girls between the ages of 12-14.

The characters are 17 but act more like 13, which may or may not be a realistic portrayal of teenage boys. Finn was kind of an asshole, and although his outbursts were always blamed on his " blank outs", an asshole is an asshole is an asshole. What really grinded my gears to the point of no redemption was his assumption that his crush(view spoiler)[ would want to have sex with him after recently getting RAPED !!! (hide spoiler)]
The first half of the book reminded me a bit of John Green, with the quirky and somewhat random personalities of all involved characters but after 50% the novel just became more and more boring.
The one good thing that I can say about this book is that I did enjoy Finns' relationship with his father, and the writing did make me chuckle a few times. I do think that this author has talent and I would probably check out another book by him. I'm going to give this a 3/5, even though it wasn't my cup of tea I do think it has an audience.

I give up. I tried so hard to like this collection and I thought that it would be a home run for sure but this turned out to be so far from that. In the very lengthy introduction it mentions that the popular Grimm fairytales, which most of us are familiar with are actually extremely edited versions of the originals. Intrigued I started this book, however very quickly I realized that I *gasp* actually prefer the edited mainstream versions (blasphemy I know).
I am far from an expert in fairytales but I just expected so much more, I found most of the stories to be dull, dumb and repetitive, and indeed many of the stories are almost exact copies of each other except for very minor changes. This made reading extremely tedious and I quickly tired of this collection.
I cannot in good faith recommend this version of Grimm's fairytales, and would suggest just sticking to the more familiar version of events (Edition 7).

I guarantee that this book will make your family look positively bland in comparison.I could not put down this obsessive read. It was fascinating to read about a family dealing with the aftermath of a mother with a hording disorder. Like many people, I have watched the popular hoarding reality show "Buried Alive" but I never truly understood how deep the rabbit hole really went for people suffering from this affliction.
When I told my mother about the story she said it sounded like a Jerry Springer episode, and I suppose she has a point. However this novel is so much more than that and I think this is where the cover truly shines. The bird family's destruction really came about like the slow cracks of an egg. It was just one thing after another until it all fell apart.
I loved all of the characters, even the ones I hated! Even though all of this insanely dramatic stuff was happening I still felt that everyone was painfully real.
This novel broke my heart but I still felt very satisfied with the ending. Even if I was still holding grudges with some of the characters, I felt that the ending was so perfect and healing. I feel infinitely lucky to have been able to receive a galley of this book. Many thanks to Lisa and Atria publishing. I would definitely recommend this for a book club read. 6/5

The concept was interesting but I did find it hard to wrap my head around at times. There was also a lot of fairy tale characters in this novel and the author assumed that the reader knew every tale, therefore not bothering to explain a lot of their stories.
I found the main character Vivian to be an annoying spoiled brat who treated her on again off again boyfriend like shit. I found it hard to feel any sympathy towards her and she acted so entitled all the time. I loved Henley(the huntsman and her love interest), he was way too good for Vivian and because of this my view of him dimmed a little when he started becoming a doormat.
There was also some weird plot holes involving the curses that I can't explain without spoiling the story.
Overall decent read but I would suggest picking this up from the library rather than buying. If you are a fan of retellings though you will probably enjoy this more.

The book is filled with a plethora of fun, nostalgia inspiring items such as Cassettes, Telegraphs and Milkshake straws. However despite the authors implications that anyone under 35 will get no value out of this books' content, I personally think any 90's kid and earlier will find many fun memories in this book.
My only real issue with this book (and it's not so much an actual issue as it is a disappointment) is that this book features largely British items and brands, and as a Canadian I would say I was left in the dark on many of the exclusively British Dodos.
Overall fun read with a decent amount of worldwide Dodos although majority are of British descent.

I really liked this novel and found the world of Chaos to be interesting and original. I did however have some issues with this read. For one the characters seemed a lot younger than their supposed ages, this is not necessarily a bad thing but it is something to note. I also felt that the whole Kumbaya vibe of the group was a bit hard to stomach and unnecessary, but perhaps I am just a bitter old woman in that regard.
