I write something else.

To me, writer's block tends to mean that I'm thinking too hard, or I'm pressuring myself too much. So I force myself to let go by dropping that project for awhile and refocusing on something else. Usually, the inspiration comes back as soon as I let the tension go.

If I'm struggling to write at all, then it's never an issue about writing. It's an issue with me, usually something deeply emotional that I'm going through. In that case, I deal with it as best I can, whether that means getting help or rearranging my priorities to meet my own needs.(less)

I love creating stories, and I love the way that it makes me think.

But the best part is the way it makes me feel happy and complete like nothing else in the world: like this is what I was meant to do, this is what I was made for.(less)

Redefining “Which Quarantine House” Memes

Ive been seeing a lot of which quarantine house would you choose? memes. If you enjoy these, then great! Im not here to rain on your parade. Nothing to see here.

Speaking for myself, these memes are a little underwhelming. Just because a house contains your favorite dog/character/books/etc. does not mean you will enjoy being stuck there for weeks on end. In general, I would want more information a

I've read a lot of fantasy revolving around power struggles in an inherited monarchy, accompanied by discussions of democratic ideals in these monarchies, but this one really married the romance, the families, and the themes perfectly. Deceptions are ...more

Neil Gaiman
“The ducks in St James's Park are so used to being fed bread by secret agents meeting clandestinely that they have developed their own Pavlovian reaction. Put a St James's Park duck in a laboratory cage and show it a picture of two men -- one usually wearing a coat with a fur collar, the other something sombre with a scarf -- and it'll look up expectantly.”

“The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.”

“DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH.”

Terry Pratchett
“God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players [i.e. everybody], to being involved in an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.”

“Inside every sane person there's a madman struggling to get out," said the shopkeeper. "That's what I've always thought. No one goes mad quicker than a totally sane person.”
