Michigan Central Station is officially opening its doors after an incredible 6-year effort. Thanks to the hard work from thousands of skilled tradespeople, partners in the city and state, and so many more, we have accomplished what many thought was impossible. Michigan Central is already becoming a vibrant innovation hub that is helping create the future and ensuring the region remains the center of the automotive industry. Today is a proud day for Detroit and for Ford Motor Company. Please join us in the celebration and watch here: https://lnkd.in/d2BkiPEV!
So thankful to Ford Motor Company for supporting the vision and financial support to give Detroit this loving gift of revitaitalization. I remember riding the train to Detroit when I was 4, and with my dad waiting to pick us up, we settled into our new apartment that we could se the top of the Ford Rotunda Building. Reopening the Michigan Central Station brings me right back through that circle of life. So looking forward to seeing the inside of this long awaited reopening!
This is one of the best things to happen in Michigan in my lifetime. I was in Detroit on business back in 2008 and drove through the circle drive and thought, the day this beautiful lady is restored, is the mark that Detroit is back. Thanks to everyone involved, that day is here. Thank you all for doing the heavy lifting to give this gift back to Detroit and future generations. 🙌❤️👍
Remembering the Michigan Central from my visit to Detroit many years ago in a sad condition. German media always used it as a negative symbol during the Detroit Autoshow for many years..... You are turning this now into something we can be proud of. This is so great.
The Michigan Central Station is where, on January 13, 1967, I got on a train going to Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., to start my U.S. Army basic training!
Great work to all involved, the regenerated Michigan Central Station looks incredible! I used to visit Detroit every year to visit my Aunt and Uncle back in the 1980’s and from time to time we would drive by the neglected station which was truly sad. It is great to see its rebirth. I was lucky enough to grow up in Toronto which has always had a beautiful railway station like many Canadian cities so I appreciate the great architecture and pure functionality that these station buildings offer. Unfortunately now though, I live in Edmonton which lost its central train station many years ago and now riders have to schlep to this poor excuse for a train station - https://www.google.ca/maps/@53.5785732,-113.5300593,3a,45.9y,325.81h,94.93t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1scnMbWY4M6vWaj5WtMzBvMw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 - truly embarrassing! Maybe someday there will be a rebirth of rail and its great history in Edmonton as well - fingers crossed.
Thank you Ford Motor Company for your example setting and for your commitment to Michigan and our great city of Detroit. Your leadership has been long term, impactful and forever heartfelt to the vast amount of communities that you serve around the world. Keep up your stellar work and commitment of doing good things for humanity. What you embody as a company and corporate leader is the hallmark of who Ford Motor Company is and has always demonstrated. “ACTIONS NOT WORDS”!!! Continue to be an inspiration and 1st class example to Michigan, the city of Detroit and the world. God bless Ford Motor Company. God bless Michigan. God bless the city of Detroit. God bless AMERICA 🇺🇸 SEMPER FI 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you for committing to this project and bringing this back to life for all of Detroit, Michigan, and all visitors. Now please take it to the next level and step and bring rail/train travel back to Michigan Central! To be a mobility hub, and to attract young people, we must have all mobility alternatives present! 🚄🛤️
