Before you rush out on your last few lunchbreaks to the shops, panic buy extra gifts on express delivery and pick up extra treats in the way home from work, pause and don't panic. Do you really need to? Here's a blog written by our Lissie Pollard on the very unmerry excess of Christmas (be it packaging, unwanted gifts, wasted food...) https://lnkd.in/e9JXB-yv

🌞 Help Small Vendors and Delivery Drivers During Heat Waves 🌞 As summer heat waves get worse, small vendors and delivery drivers are really struggling. They work hard outside in the hot sun to bring us fruits, vegetables, and deliveries. Let’s support them and make their lives a bit easier. What You Can Do: Shop Local: Buy fruits and vegetables from small vendors. Your support allows them to take breaks when the sun is at its hottest. Be Kind: When a delivery driver comes to your door, ask if they need water or a short break. Small acts of kindness can make their day better. Share: Talk about this issue on social media or with friends. The more people know, the more we can all help. Community Support: Set up hydration spots or shady areas in your neighborhood for vendors and delivery drivers to rest. Let’s Make a Difference: By being thoughtful and kind, we can help small vendors and delivery drivers stay safe and healthy in the heat. Together, we can make a positive impact in our community. 💪 #SupportLocal | #HeatWaveHelp | #BeKind | #CommunityCare | #StayHydrated 💧

It's hard to find the words when you read a post like this ... 😔 In a time saturated with health advice on all kinds of foods, we must never forget there are people struggling to get even the basics of nutrition. Rickets causes weak soft bones and is a completely preventable bone disease. When a mother is able to eat Vitamin D rich foods during pregnancy, as well as her child when young and growing, bones are able to become dense and strong. We all help in our own ways, independently and through brilliant non-profit organisations like The Feed. If you can help them in any way, please read the article below and get in touch with them 🙏 #thankyouforyoursupport #ourfoodmakesadifference
"We’ve got children with bowed legs because they’re so deficient in vitamins." This is life in Norwich for some people in 2024, described by a headteacher. Whilst it's a Fine City for some, the reality for many others is that affording enough food is a real challenge. This is why we set up our Social Supermarket to provide low-cost groceries. Everything in the photo costs a total of just £5. If you would like to know more about our work or get involved, email [email protected] You can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eC8Gs__Z #OurFoodMakesADifference 🧡

Today, I bring you the humble supermarket trolley...bear with me here! Depending on your perspective, its a labour-saving device, a torture chamber for small children, a walking aid for those who need it, always has a wonky wheel and is guilty of many a carpark scrape. It's also something you probably don't think much about when you go to the supermarket. Yesterday, as I was returning mine to the trolley bay, someone asked me if they could take it as they were going in store (always one of life's little wins!), and our brief conversation went like this Lady - "Ooh, do you mind if I take that?" Me - “No, not at all, thanks!" Lady - "Isn't it lovely we can do this again?" Me - looking a bit bemused Lady - "Don't you remember all those months when we had to queue to get into the supermarket and trolleys had to be sanitised, you couldn't just hand your trolley over to someone then" Me - "You're absolutely right, and yes it is a good thing" Now, I appreciate there are concerns about the rise in the latest Covid variant, and I know that many people experienced and are still experiencing a myriad of traumas relating to that period of time, and I am in no way diminishing that. It is still important to collectively recall just how far we've come. This brief exchange reminded me that it's not all bells and whistles, sometimes progress can be found in the most mundane things... #thelittlethings #progress
