Incident Management Teams

CIMT National Rotation

The national rotation is managed by NICC to provide available CIMTs when needed to support any geographic area or national need. Each geographic area manages an internal rotation appropriately to meet their membership’s needs throughout the year.

Current Rotation

Due to heavy commitment of CIMTs during Preparedness Level (PL) 5, all CIMT assignments are being managed by NMAC.  Current rotational order is suspended; once activity decreases sufficiently, NMAC will resume the rotation as appropriate for the remainder of the year.

Factors for determining all CIMT assignment requests include availability, date and time needed, closest forces/travel considerations, equitable distribution of assignments, fatigue management, and strategic outlooks.  To ensure quick response to any emerging incidents, NMAC is also identifying teams to remain available for mobilization within their own or to a neighboring geographic area. As geographic areas status their teams, NMAC will communicate intent for those teams most likely to stay available for emerging incidents rather than replacement needs.

While all CIMTs should be prepared for another potential assignment this year, NMAC is striving to balance assignments.  CIMTs with fewer assignments will be prioritized for assignment over teams with more assignments unless circumstances necessitate it based on the above factors for assignment.  The 7-day unavailability period is only being reduced on a case-by-case basis.  Extensions are appropriate in some instances to achieve objectives or stagger CIMT transitions with case-by-case approval by NMAC.

For additional guidance on CIMT mobilizations and PL 5 actions, please see the National Interagency Standards for Resource Mobilization.
