We manage Payroll and use Paylocity for time, labor, and scheduling. These tools allow us to fully integrate our employees' punches, schedules, and paychecks.

  • Instructor Led Training: We used this for the time and labor implementation, and they were really, really good.
It is well suited for 9-5, Monday - Friday workforces. In my experience, Paylocity struggles with less traditional workforces, such as 24-7 work schedules that change cost centers mid-shift. The overnight management of scheduling, time, and labor is dismal.

We are an accounting practice and use Paylocity to process Payroll for multiple clients. Paylocity is our preferred Payroll provider. We especially like that we can have all clients under a company set, allowing us to move easily between clients. We migrated to Paylocity in early 2020, just before the pandemic hit. Paylocity was an invaluable resource during that time, with so many ever changing rules around Payroll taxes, credits and leave, we felt we made the right move at the right time. With any Payroll related law change, Paylocity publishes guidance to help employers navigate the rules. We have also appreciated their support team, who are always just a phone call or email away.

Paylocity is well suited to companies with some level of complexity; such as having multi state, multi department, multi location, a large staff size, and complex compensation structures. Paylocity has a ton of features that make them a good fit for these companies. Paylocity is probably overkill for small teams with very simple needs.

Paylocity is used as our payroll vendor for our bi-weekly payroll of approximately 80 employees. Our previous payroll vendor had continuous glitches and many "work arounds" that I, as the Payroll Manager had to use. One of my biggest issues was that I was never able to get immediate help when calling in. Paylocity's platform runs smoothly without glitches and when I call with an issue or "crisis", I get a live person picking up the phone without being put in a queue and waiting to be called back....great customer service!

  • Very responsive customer service team and answers immediately and is knowledgeable about the software.
  • Many facets available, not just for managing payroll, but for on-boarding, HR, training, and record keeping.
Paylocity has worked wonderfully for our workforce of 80 employees. We haven't used the on boarding process yet, but are planning to and expect it to require less work for the several folks that will be using it.

Learning the system and how it works has been fairly easy. Any unusual circumstances have been handled promptly and the onboarding support has been outstanding.

I am the payroll director for the company. We use Paylocity for everything to do with payroll and about half of everything to do with HR. One of the things I really appreciate is the ability to run additional payrolls off-cycle without incurring additional cost. That was always a big problem for us with our previous provider. That alone has solved a multitude of problems. Our company is under new ownership and the demand for reports for everything imaginable has been overwhelming. Paylocity has made this burden much easier to bear as I can get the data needed easily, even if I sometimes have to combine data from different reports into one. That is not a hardship and is not a fault of Paylocity. It is the scope of the type of data they want on one report, i.e., HR related data combined with payroll process data.
  • Support has been exceptional.
  • Ease of the payroll submission process.
  • Ability to find information quickly on an employee.
  • Love the increasing number of dynamic reports. Please keep them coming.
Paylocity works really well for a company our size (approx. 600 employees). I think if we were to triple in size it would likely work just as well. Especially if the changes requested on a prior question were implemented. Some things, such as being able to e-verify an employee, is tied to using the onboarding feature of Paylocity that we cannot use, due requirements of the new owners of the company. That means we have to everify outside of the payroll system. This is the one thing our prior payroll provided did that is better than what Paylocity can provide. Bundling features is understandable but it would be nice if some functionality could be used outside of the bundle to accommodate the needs of the customer.

We use Paylocity for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, payroll, and time tracking for hourly employees. We also utilize the expense reimbursement section and love that it integrates directly into payroll after approval. We love that all of these aspects are connected and in one system.

Paylocity works great for small businesses! Our company is less than 50 people. I could see how Paylocity would be more difficult to use for larger companies because of the improvements I listed on the last page.

We use Paylocity primarily for the payroll portion of the platform. It works very well and it easy to understand. The ability for employees to easily update/change their individual deductions is a significant improvement. We also enjoy the "Expense" module since it helps to facilitate semimonthly expense reimbursements.

  • The ability for employees to make personalized changes on their own is user-friendly.
  • The monthly updates regarding various HR changes is helpful.
The main HR organization and payroll processing is very good. Modules, like "Expense", could use some improvements to make processes for administrators easier to deal with.

We use Paylocity and many of the tools the technology has to offer. First and foremost it is our database for employee files and we use Paylocity to run payroll. We love the recruiting application and use it for all sorts of opportunities. We recently got the Performance and Comp model and look forward to maximizing those systems to showcase our efforts.

  • Having programs that allow us to create a "Hub" of tools to promote within our agency.
I think Paylocity, overall, is a great tool. There is a lot of functionality and it allows a space to house a lot of materials. I believe Paylocity could lean more into best ways to utilize or operate. Their "help" center is amazing and although it is a great tool, some times people want a training with their account manager or a group of people to really get the sense of the tool and some examples or "show and tell" within their company code.

We use Paylocity for housing our employee HR & Payroll information. We onboard all employees through the Onboard tab. All new hires fill out their new hire paperwork online through the portal as well. Once that is completed, we will push them to the HR and Payroll side of the system. We run payroll bi-weekly through Paylocity. Track all time off request as well. In addition, it houses the time clock for hourly employees.

I really appreciate the quick turnaround for communication with the account manager. I do not have to go weeks to get a response. They usually respond within the same day, and that means a lot to me. The system is super easy to use overall. I also appreciate the pop-up messages within the portal, to notify us of things we need to know. Such as payroll submission dates.

I use Paylocity for payroll, benefits, onboarding, time & labor, engagement, communication and reporting. Paylocity makes it very easy for us to track employees ours, time off and to keep in touch via the chat or community page. We run payroll weekly, and the App is very efficient.

As an HR dept of 2 people and with over 1000 employees, we use almost every part of Paylocity. We use the performance area to do, track and remind managers of reviews due. Time and Labor for all the punches and time off requests. Paylocity's benefit suite to help with benefit enrollments through the app very quickly. We use the self service profile to upload most used documents, videos and to communicate changes. Expenses to reimburse employees. Flex spending accounts and COBRA through Payocity. Also recruiting and onboarding to get new applicants and employees. We are a retail gas station chain with subways and Tim Hortons.

With an HR dept of 2 people that service over 1000 employees, Paylocity helps us track everything - great reports to see when things expire or when they are due. We use Paylocity as our HR / Payroll platform. It solved the issues we had with the final processing of payroll, PTO and employees having access to paystubs and W-2s. It is a more useful HR platform than we were previously using. We also use the recruiting module as well which integrates well with employee on-boarding.

We have a mobile workforce. We use geo fencing around all of our job sites and it works great.

The geo fencing was exactly what we needed. We stopped writing up paper timesheets. Reporting is great.

In addition to inputting our payroll every two weeks, which Paylocity processes and disburses, we use Paylocity's automated programming to track our employee's PTO. Our organization also depends on Paylocity to accurately withhold local and federal taxes and timely remittance of those taxes. Finally, all of our benefits processing is through Paylocity - it's great having most HR needs in one place.

It is easy and efficient to input and submit payroll for a true small business. Also, any company looking to avoid "big box" payroll companies with fluctuating fees that are impossible to understand. Paylocity's HCM platform has been instrumental to our staffing and recruiting organization. For our use, it is extremely easy to onboarding temporary team members and backed by a supportive and easily accessible support team. The workflows are seamless and easy to navigate for an HR department of one. The scalability and flexibility of Paylocity is most impactful to our business.

I use Paylocity for payroll, benefits, reporting, workflows, training, and onboarding. I am working within Paylocity every single day, so it is important that the system works well and is easy to navigate through. Before switching to Paylocity, we used tons of paper throughout the employee life-cycle. Now everything is electronic and immensely easier to track and maintain. We have also greatly appreciated the flexibility of payroll and being able to make changes to employee profiles even while a payroll batch is open and not having to start over each time. The system just makes sense for a user with how it functions and that means a lot when you are performing very vital tasks within it like payroll.
  • Customer service. I have appreciated being able to call in whenever I have a question or issue and I am able to talk to an actual person who is knowledgeable and kind.
  • User Interface. The system is easy to navigate through and find what you need. This was a big improvement for us from our previous system.
  • Robust. There is a lot to the system and we have enjoyed being able to do a lot of things within one software rather than having to log into multiple systems for each small task or process.
Paylocity is well-suited for employers who have a large number of employees, who have various locations or entities, or who have more complicated payroll structures and employees who punch in. We have noticed that Paylocity is able to handle all of the complications of our business and have been very helpful and willing to get on a phone call to make sure any implementation went smoothly. If you are running a very small operation with few employees and a simple payroll structure, then Paylocity is probably too sophisticated of a system for you.

We currently use a time and labor system that is not Paylocity and it can be difficult to move the information. Other than that, the system is fairly easy to navigate. They take care of our taxation and garnishments and payment of some of our additional deduction payments. I am confident when I contact the customer service, that I am going to be assisted in any questions that employees may have.

Overall, it is a good system, we came from a manual system with Paychex and our staff were not able to access their information, therefore, it was a drain on the payroll department to attend to employee requests. Now they have the ability to access and update most of the basic information, as long as they can remember their passwords and sign on information. Sometimes my employees just don't follow the instruction that I have given them the was generated out of the Knowledge Base and get frustrated. I can't see what exactly they are seeing since I am an administrator.

We use Paylocity for all our payroll needs. We have the system integrated with recruiting software so that onboarding is done electronically and uploaded into the Paylocity system. All employee information is entered and edited, and all pay detail is included. Payroll reports, ACA compliance, and more can be accessed through their reporting system. Processing payroll is seamless, and the system is very user-friendly.

Paylocity is well suited for larger companies that want to utilize all the features available such as employee portals, HR, Benefits admin, etc. Our smaller company doesn't have a need for those features, and they can be costly. Paylocity is great for someone who doesn't need a lot of fluff, just the basics to manage employees and get them paid.

Do not use if you want to integrate other services. They nickel and dime you to death!

I use it for payroll, training, and performance management. The system is very easy to learn, easy to train employees, and great for overall HRIS management. The payroll reports are so easy to review. The quarterly reports are clear and easy to read as to make sure they are accurate. Paylocity files all the quarterly reports for you which makes payroll a seamless process.

Payroll and time off tracking is great. Payroll quarterly reporting is great as well. In my personal experience, I am having trouble with the Career section where we track training. All my information recently moved to notes so now I cannot run reports on the status of training. I have been trying to get support and that is non-existent and that is a big problem since we are starting reviews.
