Tropical Storm Hone Passing South of Hawaii; Heat Continues in the Southern U.S.

Tropical Storm Hone will pass south of the Hawaiian Islands this weekend, strengthening into a hurricane briefly southwest of Hawaii late Sunday into Monday. A Tropical Storm Watch and Flood Watch have been issued. Strong winds are expected again today along the Colorado River Valley, with gusts of 30-40 mph expected around Lake Mead and Lake Mohave. This will make for extremely dangerous boating conditions with large waves and gusty winds. In addition, fire danger will be very high today so continue to heed any fire restrictions.
Gusty winds are expected today with the strongest winds across Mohave, Clark, and Lincoln counties. Gusts of 30-40 mph can be expected, and possibly stronger in the Arizona Strip. Temperatures will be several degrees below average.
