Dinesty is the fanciest dim sum house that I've ever been to.

If you love dim sum and Chinese food in general, you can expect the same thing in the quality of their dishes. Excellent Chinese food, but a brand new Chinese food experience. What I love about this place is the way they stray from the traditional Chinese way of doing things, and yet still manage to keep the soul in their dishes. I like that, because most Chinese restaurants just look and feel the same to me nowadays...

These guys have a very modern space that's packed with people. Make reservations to save time! We were a big group, so we were very fortunate to get the private room. The private room was filled with miniature teapots in glass casings, which was a nice touch. Loved everything about the atmosphere of this place. It set the mood for us, and we were very excited to eat!

FOOD: Like most dim sum restaurants, we ordered many small plates for us to share, but we also ordered some of the larger dishes. Great selection and loved all the food. They have so many fried rice options I left Dinesty with a big ol' belly and a hell of a food coma..

*Xiao long baos (Chinese soup dumplings) - Dinesty specializes in these xiao long baos so be sure to order some while you're there (there were even some helpful instructions on how to eat them properly on the menu). They were absolutely delicious and I loved eating them while they were hot and fresh. Love the feeling of the warm soup bursting out of the dumpling. It was a pleasant surprise for those who have never tried them before. We made three orders, and it was enough for all of us to share plus a little extra.

*Shrimp and pork shaomai - I've never seen shaomai made like this before. It had a unique design which was fun to look at, and it was equally as delicious. I love shaomai so I have no complaints about this! Wish I had soy sauce and chili oil to dump it in though...

*Mongolian beef - This one really surprised me. It tasted so freaking good, almost like crispy Korean wings (except without the bone). It had some crunch, and a honey chili glaze that gave it a sweet and savory taste. This one was my favorite out of all the dishes I've had at Dinesty.

*Salted pork fried rice - This one was just right (tastes like standard Chinese fried rice and not anything too amazing). Dinesty had so many fried rice choices though and I just wanted to try them all. The salted pork fried rice was delicious, rich and slightly salty on some bites.

*Green onion pancakes - Delicious, but meh compared to most other green onion pancakes I've tried. Would have liked it if it was more flaky, and slightly crispy. This one was more on the soft side.

*Steamed and fried buns with condensed milk - Our dessert option. I wasn't able to try the steamed buns with condensed milk, but I was able to try the fried ones. I used to eat those as a kid so the first bite felt more nostalgic than anything. Very delicious and slightly crispy as you bite into the crust - then it gets really soft, tender and delicious. I really wish they included more per serving...

*Noodles - We ordered a large plate of noodles too, but they were more forgettable compared to all the other dishes and they were also my least favorite of the bunch. More of a filler than anything. I don't even remember what noodles they were exactly but I'll edit this later on when I find out.

Overall, this was an amazing lunch experience. Loved the modern feel of dim sum, and every bite was delicious. For a large group like ours, everything was worth the price and the bill turned out relatively inexpensive. I wish they included just a little bit more in their servings, but I wouldn't go as far as to sacrifice their quality. It was still pretty damn amazing, and I'm glad we decided to eat here.

Our family dined here for lunch today (July 24, 2024), and it was pretty good! I'd say it's a cheaper Canadian version of Din Tai Fung. The quality was nearly on par with DTF, too.
The inside of the restaurant had plenty of tables for large groups and it had pretty simple decor.

We ordered the juicy pork dumplings and the skin was really thin, while the meat on the inside was quite tasty and soupy.
The other dishes we ordered included the pan friend shanghai style rice cake, green scallion pancake, spicy wontons, dan-dan noodles, deep fried calamari, and green chive pocket.

The food came out quite fast after we ordered, and our table was full of dishes in a short period of time. The star of our meal was the juicy pork soup dumplings.
Even tough they came with 6 dumplings per order, the price was very reasonable and priced lower than the dumplings at DTF in California.

I'd highly recommend this dumpling restaurant to anyone that visits Vancouver (or lives locally here).

I had a very good meal at Dinesty Dumpling House during my recent trip to Vancouver! I was in the mood for soup dumplings, and what started as a snack ended up being a full dinner.

I was intrigued by their Steamed Black Truffle & Pork Soup Dumplings, so I started with an order of that. I'll be honest, this left a bit to be desired--there was way too much truffle oil/seasoning on the dumplings and was very overpowering, not just in flavor but also in smell. If you like a lot of truffle flavoring though, then definitely get it.

Next I thought I'd "wash" that all down then by getting an order of Braised Beef Noodle Soup, and making it extra spicy. Now this dish was totally worth it--I loved every single bite, and the portion was so huge I took it home and had it for lunch the next day.

Service here was very kind to me too as well, and many people around me all seemed to be enjoying their meals.

Definitely consider visiting Dinesty Dumpling House!

Good chinese food, but nothing super duper outstanding. I saw this spot had good reviews and wanted to give it a try.

We got a few items, with my favorite probably being the beef roll pancake. Something about the scallion pancake combo with beef and hoisin is so good. The soup dumplings and potstickers were fine, but I also did like the red bean rice cake for dessert -- it reminded me just of the din tai fung one!

Service was okay, and the restaurant itself is huge. If you're looking for something filling and satisfying in the area, look no further!

A friend of mine brought my husband and I here for dinner. If you don't get there before they open at 5pm, there's always a long line. The parking lot only had parking meters near by the restaurant. We were quickly seated and tea was brought to us.
We ordered Braised Beef Noodle Soup, [Special]Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings, Steamed Shrimp, Scallop, & Pork Soup Dumplings (6), Steamed Vegetable & Pork Dumplings (6), Pan Fried Shrimp & Pork Pot Stickers (6pcs), Pan Fried Pork Pot Stickers (6pcs), Pan Fried Marinated Beef Wraps (4pcs)...etc. The dumplings were brought to the table at the same time and were piping hot but cooled down quickly. The cold Dumplings and Stickers didn't taste very good. The beef noodles was delicious and the meat was meltingly tender. Pan Fried Shrimp & Pork Pot Stickers were crispy and yummy. Good service and quick service. Next time I want to try something else.

Upon entering Dinesty Dumpling House, you're greeted with a window to the open kitchen where you see dumplings in the making. The restaurant is modern and large, but a bit cramped (tables close to each other).

I ordered a small hot & sour soup and pork xiao long baos (6 piece). The hot & sour soup was good, warming on a cold day with a good balance of spicy and sour flavors. But the XLBs were just ok, not super flavorful and unmemorable.

Service was quick, not the friendliest but also not rude. I wouldn't return if they're out of the way.

The dishes were delicious overall, though I'd steer clear of the hot and sour soup. Service could definitely use a boost, though!

We walked in with a group of 7 on a Wednesday night and were quickly accommodated. The 8 year old and I have an obsession with soup dumplings and we were not disappointed. The only disappointing item was the pan fried marinated beef wraps. They had a large chunk of cucumber in the middle that didn't seem to quite fit. Other places I have been to have added fresh greens, which seems to compliment the dish better.
Service was good. Staff were efficient and food came out quickly.

I came here on the recommendation of a friend but didn't realize how packed it gets until after I was dining. They close between lunch and dinner and I arrived about 5-10 minutes before doors opened.

      Food wise:
      - Xiao Long Bao: juicy, good flavor, better than other places for sure -- I got the shrimp scallop and pork XLB and I don't regret doing so
      - Shumai: skippable. I think that there's a small shrimp on top, but I didn't love the flavor of the filling. There was a STRONG citrusy and green (maybe ginger? Maybe also cilantro?) flavor
      - scallion pancake: MUST get, it's worth the extra time it takes to be made

Service was just so-so, but it's understandable given how busy it is inside. Overall, I was pretty content with my meal here.

We came here on our last day in Vancouver and the food was great. Service was fast and good. Everything we had was excellent. My only complaint is that the onion pancakes were a bit on the thicker side and not as light as I'm used to. I would definitely recommend and return to this place.

      Black truffle soup dumplings.

I didn't even know this was a thing. Never seen them anywhere but here they were on the menu. So we had to get them.

And boy were they good. The right mix of broth and pork. And just the right size too. And hearty enough they didn't break when you picked them up.

We also had a fried rice and screw buns too. All was great. Quick service and a nice interior (though more functional than luxurious).

Really enjoyed this place but get the dumplings for sure.
