I am a repeat user of this company. They are organized, reliable, and offer very fair pricing. Carlos was my technician this time, and was able to quickly diagnose and solve our problem on the spot. Would highly recommend them.

Called Discount Plumber (among others) on a Tuesday 9am. They were one of 2 plumbers that actually picked up the phone. And of the 2, they were able to send someone immediately (the other said maybe 4pm). We had a main drain backup so wanted to get it taken care of asap.

What we expected as a simple snaking turned out a bit bizarre. The snake ran into no stoppages. The camera saw no water, but we had a backup! Thanks to the dedicated Lazaro, we finally figured it out after 2 or 3 hours.

Highly recommend them - the pursuit of the truth rather than nickel and diming you on various services is helpful. Plumbing is tricky in sf since everything is underground and you can't see! Sometimes you HAVE to try a million different things to figure it out. Really glad Lazaro and Stephen were there to help.

I had a great experience with Discount Plumbing but want to specifically call out Ricardo De La Rosa for his time and effort put into the work needed. Ricardo was everything you want in someone working on a home.
His initial inspection was incredibly thorough, taking the time to get in the crawlspace with a camera, showing me the specific issues he found and walking me through potential solutions. When doing the agreed upon work Ricardo lead his team (who also worked incredibly hard), getting his hands dirty as well and being amazingly informative, talking me through each step, providing options, and keeping me updated on progress. Before finishing up Ricardo walked me through testing of all the drains and spouts and made sure everything not only functioned but functioned well.
I saw a few smaller bids for less work but was so impressed with Ricardo in the initial inspection I was happy to go with Discount Plumbing instead, and couldn't be happier with the result. I should also call out that they were flexible on the price and came down more than I asked to land the job.

I'm just going to list the qualities that struck me most and would absolutely recommend this company if Ricardo is on your job.

Hey everybody! We have used discount plumbing several times all for different issues!
We called them out this time to look at a drainage issue a few months back and we wanted to share how pleased we were with the final replacement project!
It was easy to set up the appointment for a re-assessment and they were able to get started right away!
We requested Simon and Connor come out again and we were pleased that they came back out and were able to honor the original price they gave us a few months back! If I have any other plumbing issues in the future I will definitely be requesting for them again!

It took 3 visits to fix the flow valve in our toilet. The first technician really wasn't skilled enough so they had to send someone else for the final fix. And there wasn't anything discount about their price.

Please read this. I have proof they lied and were going to charge me $4,000 for something that wasn't broken.

Part of our sidewalk in front of our house caved in. There was a cavity under the sidewalk. Discount Plumbing Rooter came by to inspect it as our contractor thought it was the house trap.

The positive - the technician, Elmer, was very pleasant.

The negative - after two visits and putting a camera down into our pipes, they came back both times saying the house trap near the street disconnected and sunk causing water to be displaced under our sidewalk leading to a sink hole. They were going to charge me $5,000. I negotiated it down to $4,000.

I shared with my neighbor who ran a plumbing business for 20 years. He called his friend over because he was certain that the house trap was intact. When his friend came over, they put a camera down, recorded it, checked all the seams, flushed water down from every toilet, faucet and other drains. Their conclusion was that the house trap was perfectly intact.

Just to confirm, we called another plumber over who verified the house trap was perfectly fine. No sand or debris was leaking into the pipes.

After calling Discount Plumbing to let them know how infuriating it is they were taking advantage of the situation, the supervisor responded - "then what is it?!" Not even sure where to begin...he was perfectly ok with taking my money to fix something that wasn't broken.

My recommendation:
1. Do not pay a cent for any inspections (I paid $0 for Discount Plumbing to inspect and provide a proposal)
2. Get multiple bids and do not tell each company what you think is the issue based on what the previous company shared...let them come to their own conclusion so that you aren't leading the witness.
3. Ask your neighbors for a plumber they've used for years and trust.

Discount Plumbing - You should be so ashamed of yourselves. You are taking advantage of people that do not what they don't know. The fact that you were going to charge me $4,000 for something that wasn't broken is pathetic. Total scam and I have proof from the recording!!!

Update on my previous review - after submitting a claim to the Better Business Bureau, I finally had someone at Discount Plumbing, Joel Page, who did a full investigation of my complaints, gave me a call to apologize, and provided a refund for all costs I incurred. He also made it clear to me that they were going to make changes in the future so that other people don't encounter this. Joel was the first person with this company that didn't make me want to flip a table after being on the phone with them.

Pro tip for anyone having issues with them in the future - either (1) ask to speak to Joel Page, or (2) submit a claim to the BBB.
