We were shopping around for a mini split and decided to get a quote from eilon. He was very thorough on his inspection and gave us multiple options. His quotes were very competitive and we would've gone with him for the installation, but he did not have a specific energy star rated model of the mini split that we were interested in. Would definitely call him again in the future if we need some work done.

After reviewing multiple quotes from local HVAC companies, I landed on EM Energy&Air and was very satisfied with the quality of the work done.
My first impression was favorable with Eilon, the owner of this licensed business. He came personally to our home and thoroughly inspected our attic and crawl space. He did not give any lengthy sales pitches but asked good clarifying questions to understand exactly what we needed, took pictures, shared airflow calculations, gave honest feedback for how to solve the problem, broke down the quote on paper, and helped us narrow the scope of the work to remain within budget.
Every step of the work was done on time. His asbestos abatement contractor finished the first step safely and efficiently. And his crew completed the rest of the work arriving on time every morning and done by mid-day. I inspected the work and follow up pictures. Everything was installed and sealed well.
Our HVAC system runs so much quieter, airflow improvement is noticeable, and cools much more efficiently in the summer! Looking forward to lower energy bills and in the winter to see how well the house warms up and retains heat with the upgraded subfloor insulation!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sara F.Oakland, CA013527Jun 22, 2024
I received four bids for work I needed done under my house to deal with dampness following the last two years of rain. Eilon was the only bidder to actually suit up and go under the house to assess the situation. The three other bidders just looked in with a flashlight. I was already pretty much sold on using EM Energy as a result of that experience. Imagine my delight and surprise when his bid came in as the most competitive and thorough, given the work that needed to be done under the house - vapor barrier installation, duct repair, and air gap sealing. Without going under the house, the other three bidders were unaware of the duct and air-sealing work that needed to be done, so I imagine these would have been change orders to the original bid once they got under the house.
Even better, Eilon's team was able to get to work and complete the job (quickly) within three days of the bid.
Everything was extremely smooth and efficient throughout the entire process of working with Eilon and his company.
I highly recommend Eilon and EM Energy and Air.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Unnikrishnan K.Central San Jose, San Jose, CA074Apr 8, 2024
We got great help from this team.
They did excellent work within a day:
- installation of new exhaust fans with piping to roof
- roof vent creation
- attic insulationHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nav C.Danville, CA019Aug 19, 2024
EM energy and air helped replace the air ducts which had been breached by rodents. They provided a competitive quote and even helped with crawl space clean up, rodent clean up and even rodent proofing the crawl space. The owner Eilon is very polite, professional and understanding. We even had a slight misunderstanding on the scope of the replacement ducts and Eilon helped understand and explain the situation.
A year later, we had another rodent breach and his superb crew came to the rescue at short notice with a reasonable price.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A A.San Ramon, CA02Aug 17, 2024
Very courteous, punctual and professional! Really loved working with Eilon. He came on a short notice to assess the attic and showed pictures of what needs to be done, and provided a reasonable and competitive quote. Once the deal was agreed upon, his crew came in on time on the job-date and finished the work with full evidence of before and after pictures. Since then, the home temperature has not climbed as it used to before this insulation job was done.
Overall, full marks to Eilon and his team for a job well done. Hope this insulation stays for a long long time :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cheri A.San Jose, CA21418Apr 19, 2024
Wow! Excellent service. I received 3 quotes and EM was the 4th and had the best pricing. The owner came out and gave us the quote including abatement and beat all 3 previous quotes. His team was excellent that performed the work and could not be happier. They also showed me pictures of before and after and wow! Beautiful
Work. Thank you for the quick responses and job well done!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark H.Santa Clara, CA27604Mar 7, 2024
I had started doing some remodel work and crawled into the attic to install some canless lights. I was met with an area covered in rat feces and urine. Additionally the insulation looked extremely old and in some parts was scattered haphazardly around. I decided it was time to get it done right and quickly knowing what was sitting above me while I slept. I reached out to a number of companies on Yelp to get some quotes and their expert opinions.
Eilon responded to my request for quote within a few hours and arrived exactly on time a few days later. He masked up and did an extremely thorough inspection on both sides of my attic, identifying issues that other companies missed such as holes in the exhaust on one of my bathroom vents and more importantly that one of my HVAC runs terminated nowhere and we had been pumping delicious heat/AC into the attic the last 3 years.
After he was done with his inspection, Eilon sat down with me and went through all the problems he identified with pictures to back it up. He then went through the quote process pen-to-paper (literally) and gave me different price points depending on the type and R value of insulation. Additionally he broke down the cost of fixing the other items he identified.
What I appreciated the most from him is there was never any sales pressure - he presented his findings, the cost with options, and answered my questions without any tone of FUD.
I decided to go with EM Energy&Air after getting 4 other quotes -- his pricing was very competitive with the others for approximately 800 sq ft. His team was able to come out the very next day.
Elmer arrived with his team a little before 9:30AM. We first walked the house so I could show them the accesses and decided the best way to run their equipment. The 3 of them then spent almost 30 minutes taping down plastic and soft materials around the house as to not cause any damage and prevent materials from circulating while they did their work. The crew worked nonstop for almost 6 hours, taking out all the old insulation and other materials (including some large rolled up carpet that was thrown up there -_- which they offered to dispose for us), sanitizing the space, rodent proofing, sealing holes/cracks between the house and attic, and blowing the new insulation in. This is back breaking and I fully appreciate the work they did for us. After they finished Elmer showed me pictures of the before and after, specifically showing me points of entry and how they closed it up, and then asked me to take a walk through the house to make sure there wasn't any damage. The crew cleaned up quickly while this was happening and were gone by 2:30.
This was a great experience from beginning to end and I would highly recommend EM Energy&Air.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anita ..San Francisco, CA037Dec 3, 2023
We reached out to EM energy & air to discuss our insulation needs. Eilon was on time and answered all our questions in addition to completing a thorough inspection.
He emailed me the estimate the same day. When we called to set up services for a Saturday morning, his crew came on time, sealed everything off appropriately, and finished the job in less than 6 hours. They also cleaned up quickly once finished.
While we did receive an estimate that was a bit lower, we decided to go with EM energy & air based on reviews and how easy it was to contact Eilon. His team did an amazing job. Our house is significantly warmer and our heater is not turning on as frequently.
If we ever need additional ductworkservices, EM energy & air is my first choice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stacey H.San Mateo, CA157Apr 8, 2024
I initially chose EM Energy & Air bc I liked the straight-forward approach that the owner, Eilon, took when meeting with us for our free consultation for our HVAC installation. I also liked that he had all 5 stars on Yelp.
However, now that the job is complete, I have multiple concerns I'd like to warn future clients about.
Pros -
Eilon, the owner, is responsive and he seems to know what he's doing. Defensive of his company.
Cons -
When the job was "complete" by other people in the company, we noticed extremely low air flow from our vents. Eilon did not come by for a final check or run-through to inspect their work until we provided unsatisfactory statistics (it took 2 hours to heat our home 1 degree) and asked him to. After he came, an additional $2000-$3000 scope of work needed to be done for the HVAC system to fully work, which had we known initially, we would have chosen a different vendor.
After the additional work was done, an inspector came by so we could get the work permitted. The inspector said, and I quote, that the job reeked of "poor workmanship." Mind you, I don't know anything about HVAC installations - I just trusted Eilon to do the job well - so as you can imagine, I was livid that we paid over $20K for "poor workmanship."
Obviously, the job did not pass inspection. We did not get the permit. There were multiple areas that needed to be improved or fixed before we could get a permit. Of the 6 areas the inspector pointed out to me that were done poorly, some included major safety concerns like the gas line not being capped. This is a major safety hazard as children/pets/people could accidentally knock into or turn the gas knob. See photo.
Another area the inspector raised as a concern was that an old vent pipe needed to be removed and the ceiling sealed. The inspector said that the current setup woud allow for rats, bugs, and birds to come through. He also labeled this "poor workmanship." When we brought this up with Eilon, he responded with, and I quote, "outside of the scope of work in my opinion but we will do them anyways."
Excuse me, "outside of the scope of your work" but yet it is required to get a permit for the work you did?! And wow, "we will do them anyways" is just terrific customer service (do you hear the sarcasm in my voice?).
It took another round of fixes and another round of inspections until it ultimately passed. Which is why I'm giving my review 2 stars and not 1 star.
Summary:
If you understand the world of HVAC installations, have a lot of spare money/time/energy, and can advocate for yourself, go with EM Energy & Air. If you, like me, know little to nothing about HVAC's and care about spending your money/time/energy wisely, I recommend you go elsewhere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you, Stacey, for your feedback. It is very valuable and helps us grow.
I do think it would be even more valuable if it had fewer exaggerations and inaccuracies, so allow me to make some corrections here, since you aren't willing to have a conversation with us. You have, regretfully, instead chosen to go on a crusade against hard working people that had nothing on their minds but your uncompromising satisfaction, despite having little to no guidance on how to achieve it. This seems to be the only platform on which you are willing to converse.
We always have customer satisfaction top of my mind, and succeed in achieving it in practically all cases when communication is open and consistent. Unfortunately, you didn't afford us this luxury, and I am positive had that been the case, your mission to scathe us beyond recognition would have seemed redundant.
1. In our initial consultation I asked more than once how was the airflow in the downstairs vents, to which you answered it was fine, and other inspectors noted the crawl space air ducts were in good shape, with the exception of one. Regretfully, I took your word for it. After replacing your furnace with the new heat pump, and realizing the airflow was in fact not great at all, like you indicated at first, I inspected the crawl space thoroughly and discovered you were misled by the same contractors you retrospectively wish you had hired, and in fact the air ducts down there were disconnected and leaking profusely. I therefore recommended to replace the ductwork, gave you almost 25% off, and did it the following day, with no profit. I am sorry you had to pay $2200 more than originally planned, but you got a lot in return, and we cannot be blamed for this unforeseen situation.
2. You paid over $20k for this job. No doubt a lot of money. You were offered a number of heat pump options to suit all budgets. You requested the most expensive of all the options presented, and not by my recommendation. Most of what you paid went to manufacturers and suppliers, not us. Additionally, you received a wide range of added services like a full replacement of all your air ducts in the attic and crawl space, a full attic insulation replacement, air sealing, asbestos encapsulation, a smart thermostat, and permits administration and fees. Around 90 hours of labor went into this project. I guarantee no other vendor in the bay would have done it for the price we charged, and not in only 4 days.
3. Despite my repeated requests, you didn't inform us what time window you were given for the city inspection, and so, the inspector came by in our absence. Without anyone to explain or defend, the inspector was left to reach his own conclusions, unchallenged. To claim that a bird or a rodent would parachute down a 4" vertical pipe 25ft long is out of touch with reality. It was a furnace and water heater exhaust. Closing off pipes and drywall was indeed "outside of our scope of work", but we elected "to do it anyways". Testimony to our commitment that stretches beyond our contracts.
4. How a pipe that is inside a closet, inches away from a big vertical air duct is a tripping hazard, is beyond me. I very much hope children don't go wandering inside utility closets. This, along with the other minor corrections requested by the inspector, were all addressed in under an hour, the day after receiving the notice. It then passed the second inspection. And now, after less than 1 hour of adjustments, even by the strictest of critics, it is deemed a perfectly executed job.
5. Despite your claim that I never came by the job site until after its completion, I very much did. For the sole purpose of ascertaining you had no concerns. Your husband reassured me all was well. You weren't home. In fact, I remember that visit vividly, as I came over straight from the hospital, where my newborn son and wife were recovering from childbirth. Due to my short leave from work, my colleague was left with the great burden of taking over my work in my absence. That overload impaired the oversight, and can explain why there were some minor imperfections the inspector could point to.
We are very sorry we failed to meet your expectations and for your negative experience. We hope to learn, grow and improve thanks to it. Thank you.
