L'Atelier Patisserie is known for its amazing croissants, but it deserves more recognition for its macarons! At $2.50 each, they're cheaper than many other places. It's difficult to find good macarons under $3 these days. Matcha was a standout flavour, and my favourite along with lemon.
I went an hour before closing so there wasn't a variety of croissants left, which led me to try the double chocolate croissant. It was too sweet for me, but it would definitely pair well with coffee. The newspaper they serve croissants on is super cute!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 20, 2024

Above are the 3 hashtags that I would use to describe this place. Well presented pastries and dessert items here look elegant and appetizing. Their almond croissant truly resembles the perfect French croissant made with 100% butter, flaky and crisp on the outside and buttery inside with no need to add any butter or jam. Being an avid dark chocolate lover, the pain au chocolate and double chocolate croissant are my personal favorites and the reason that won my heart for return visits here.
Pastries here are authentically French but eating in may not be as "French" or as slow as in Paris because there are signs that advises customers of a 45 minutes only seating time. I mostly enjoy their croissants more than their coffee so this would be where I'd pick up croissants & sweet pastries, and not on list of my cafes to enjoy a cup of dark roast coffee and do work on the laptop.
Overall, I like their ambiance with big windows and lots of natural light. Free street parking available, making it easy to stop by for a mid-day pick me up pastry or to satisfy that "once in a while" sweet tooth craving :)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 1, 2024
There was a lineup but the staff was friendly and we received our baked goods right away. Seating is limited, but we managed to grab a spot while we waited for our drinks, which took awhile to prepare.
Matcha latte: at $6.20, it's the priciest hot drink on the menu, but I enjoyed this drink as the matcha is whisked fresh by order.
Chai tea misto: do not order this, there's no chai flavour at all. It's basically a chai tazo teabag with steamed milk.
Strawberry mascarpone croissant: I had to try a croissant as I've heard they are the best in town. While the croissant was pretty, the taste was just ok. I was disappointed at the lack of crispiness/flakiness.
Mango passionfruit cheesecake: this was delicious with a very strong mango flavour.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 7, 2024
Gosh it's been a minute L'atelier Patisserie.
In fact I was last in attendance at the original location just off Main St on 5th Ave at what seemed like a back alley garage type setup.
I think I had the Paris-Brest & enjoyed it.
It was obviously not really memorable to me as I forgot about it until the recent buzz started popping up in my news feed. Thank you AI.
Now located on East Broadway not far from Fraser St., this location is way better by look & decor. Bravo.
I was going to go with the Salmon Croissant but was convinced by the cashier that the baguette would be the better option ... & it was!
Even French chefs would have said - ohhh la la.
The salmon was so ahhh mazing & baguette on point tasty.
Now normally I'm hesitant to try salmon from a bakery & would rather prefer getting it on Granville Island or from a local fish market.
Heck even a restaurant would be preferred.
However, I gave it a shot & it was excellent!
I also tried the weekly special - the Lemon Cheesecake Croissant & mama mia I wish I'd gotten 3!
The raisin crossiant was good but I've had better.
I grew up in this area when there was only a couple groceries, a 7/11, a few laundry mats & a Mac's convenience store - I miss those slushies & comics for ¢20(cents).
Times sure have changed in this whole area & in fact the entire region of Metro Vancouver.
So next your time passing through here or hanging out in Mount Pleasant, pop in for a treat - it's worth it.Helpful 32Thanks 6Love this 31Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2024
This place looks really cute from the outside and pretty cute on the inside. Everything about this place screams instagram material.
Service wise, the workers were nice, I ordered an iced americano with skim. Unfortunately there may have been a misunderstanding, as my drink came hot. I wasn't in the mood to ask for it to be fixed, so oh well. The coffee was good though, the roast wasn't burnt, and it felt perfectly mild, not bitter nor acidic. The flavor was very light, and it didn't really give me a caffeine kick, so maybe it was decaf? Who knows.
I give four out of five stars, mostly because my drink was served hot to the brim of the cup with no lid. If it weren't for the milk, it probably would be scalding, and of course (and the reason why I never order hot drinks) it immediately spilled all over my hand when I picked up my drink. I think maybe if you are going to fill up the cup to the very top, place a lid on it? Or maybe use a bigger cup and serve just under the brim? Maybe I could be more careful ... the world may never know what the answer actually is, just be ware hot drinks are hot, and hot drinks filled precariously to the brim of a cup are a spill hazard. Cute place though.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 26, 2023
Croissants were kind of smushy. Not enough crisp to them for my taste. Also not enough filling in the double chocolate and chocolate ones.
Ambiance is on point though and no complaints about service.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 16, 2023Updated review
A block away from my place. My go-to since they've moved from their previous location.
Pros:
- attentive and friendly staff
- spacious seating with outdoor patio options
- on "too good to go" app with a solid secret bag (ex. Baguette, pastries, croissants)
- croissants are fresh and tons of variety for flavor (ex. Pistachio, hazelnut, almond, chocolate, etc.)
- one bathroom stall that's accessible
- free 2hr parking out front on Broadway and in the residential side street
- coffee is smooth and served hot-hotHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 29, 2023Previous reviewNew-ish cafe moved from previous location around e. 5th to a larger space on e. Broadway

Love their new space on Broadway! It's bright and inviting with lots of seating. Service is friendly and pastries are excellent. The hot chocolates we got weren't very hot this time but usually we are very happy with our drinks. (Possibly they make the hot chocolate less hot since children may order them?) Will definitely be back here, one of our favourite local spots!

This is a small takeout shop with some seating outside. Definitely a local gem! - Oct 15, 2023
I've been here a few times. In short, I would say the food and drink are really good but can be overpriced. An iced matcha latte with nondairy milk comes to $7.7 (+$.5 for ice, +$1 for alt milk) the vegetable toast, which is made on a single slice of sourdough, is $14. The pastries aren't cheap either, but the delicate craftsmanship involved makes it more justifiable.
But as I said, if you aren't bothered by the prices, the stuff is really good. I like that their veggie toast is something different from the ubiquitous avocado toast, instead featuring briny artichoke hearts and tomatoes on an herby spread. The mousse cakes are rich in flavour and a nice medley of textures. And I was really impressed by their raisin bun, which was very flaky with a custardy inside. The matcha latte is not really $8 matcha, but it's good, among the better coffee shop matchas, and their tea bags are good quality. I have yet to try anything with coffee.
The atmosphere is very welcoming. The baristas are always friendly and willing to answer questions. The shop has a warm and rustic feel, and although this is not one of those French bakeries where the Frenchness is very in your face, I can almost imagine this place (maybe sans the occasional laptops) in a little French town where the pace is a little slower.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christine Marie I.New Westminster, CanadaSep 24, 2023
L'atelier Patisserie stands out as my top choice when it comes to delectable desserts and pastries. Their pistachio rocher, in particular, is an absolute masterpiece. It strikes the perfect balance - not overly sweet, just pure perfection.
What elevates the Latelier experience even more is the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The people there are incredibly helpful, friendly, and genuinely nice. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at home.
Moreover, Latelier's minimalist and aesthetic ambiance is perfect for capturing moments on your Instagram feed and stories. So, not only will your taste buds be delighted, but your social media game will receive a significant boost too!
The next time you're in need of a cafe rendezvous with a dear friend, consider Latelier Patisserie. It's an oasis for those seeking delightful treats, great company, and a visually pleasing backdrop for your Instagram adventures.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
