My friends took me to Moltan and it was some of the best sushi I've had in a while!
We ordered several items to share: a bunch of rolls, two orders of MOLTAN's 8 piece nigiri set, MOLTAN's aburi set, and the lobster roll pasta.
Everything we ordered was high quality, fresh, and well crafted to perfection, however, I want to give a special mention to the lobster roll pasta. We weren't planning on ordering it at first, but I read a Yelp review that highlighted it and told my friends, so we decided to add it, and it was indeed the item that we found unique to MOLTAN that makes this place a notch above most high end sushi spots.
One thing to keep in mind: the restaurant is small, and there aren't a lot of seats, so there could be a wait. We weren't in a rush, so we didn't mind, but if you're in a larger group, this could make things challenging.

I first went to Moltan about 3 years ago, roughly around the time they first opened. My friend and I were in the area and we were walking around and found this little gem.

We've finally come back and it was sooo worth it! The service here has been an 11/10 experience for my friend and I. Super kind server, the food and drinks are great. It's a small place but, the atmosphere feels great once you're seated.

Long awaited....Moltan Roll Bar a little nook in Kits that I have seen time and time again on social media but have never made trek out for. Luckily my cousins were in town and wanted to give it a shot. We came in on a quiet Monday afternoon and were sat quickly. The food came promptly and very nicely plated - everything looked so pretty! We were also given complimentary drinks which was a really nice gesture.

      Sushi:
The hot blue roll was okay - I think the sauce was a bit on the heavier side and it was harder to taste the actual fish. I liked the deep sea crab roll - real crab meat was very yummy! Bluefin trio definitely hit the spot - the fish quality is good. My cousin in law ordered the Chutoro Uni don to fix her cravings and she felt that it was good but since the restaurant had run out of local uni and only had Hokkaido uni (she was looking forward to local uni), she personally felt it was not as good as some other places she's been to in Vancouver.

      Pasta:
The rose lobster pasta was such a pleasant surprise - it comes with a whole lobster tail on top which was very delicious! The flavour was good, great for tomato lovers who want a rich flavourful pasta.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Service was amazing - our tea cups were never empty and the server even gave us citron tea in to go cups afterwards. So sweet. My cousins felt that the cost to quality ratio wasn't quite there but I would like to come back to try some of the other things and hopefully enhance my flavour town experience next time.

Whenever I find myself on the west side of town I'm sure to hit up Moltan. From the great quantity and high quality of ingredients and service is why this is such a place of high value.

Perfect cozy spot to hit up for that seafood cravings on a rainy day :)

Went back a few months ago w/ the fam as been ordering their spicy salmon Temaki hand rolls as a quick lunch option as tend to work nearby as they're soo good! When I took my fam, we ordered the spicy salmon hand rolls in addition to the salmon avocado and spicy tuna rolls, hot baby Aburi, double trouble and salmon battera. My family also ordered Otoro hand roll, and beef teriyaki which my nephew enjoyed. We paired it with Yuki Hotaru Sake.

      Aburi Heaven!

Such an excellent sushi restaurant in Vancouver. I had the opportunity to try them out last winter and it was marvellous.

The Moltan Ultimate sashimi is a must have, the presentation to the freshness is impeccable. The nigiri sushi combo was also very well done.

The place itself is a bit small, with limited number of tables, so reservation is highly recommended.

Food is amazing! I enjoyed all the food they served especially the Blue & uni aburi and Uni Pasta! They have an incredible selection of unique and delicious combinations throughout their menu. However, be mindful that the restaurant is quite small and the coat hangers I find are a bit odd in their placement. If your situated near the back be careful of the coat hangers sticking out of the wall as you might hit your head when getting up from your seat or walking towards the washroom.

Came here for lunch while we were vacationing in Vancouver. The location was a bit small as we had a party of 9 but they still fit us across 2 tables! Everything was super fresh and my parents loved it. My favorite was the Moltan's Super Kaisen Don! I really liked the tuna and the Uni was not too fishy. The rice was also flavored with furikake so that was yummy as well! My aunt and uncle dont eat raw fish, so they had the beef kaisendon and they really liked that too! There is also pasta for people who cant eat sushi! They also gave us miso soup, salad, and yuzu drink on the house. They were super nice! They didnt skimp out on the fish either! Each piece was pretty big and we were all super full. Must try!

      Missing a couple of ingredients...

It has been a moment since I first came here so decided on a revisit instead of Octopus Garden up the street.

This place is located on the Cornwall street strip near Kits beach. Inside is a little compact size place therefore reservation is suggested especially during peak hours.

Upon arrival, managed to find parking out front on the street and had a table after a 15min wait. The host and staffs behind the bar were welcoming and friendly.

      After seated, here were the food I ordered;

      1. 2 complimentary refreshing drinks. I believed every diner was given one. Very nice, appreciated!
      2. Hot sake. A little generic hot sake for me to warm up the appetite.
      3. Uni shooters. I don't know what attempted creation it was but it was awful, it tasted like i was taking a soy sauce shot.
      4. Moltan's ultimate sashimi. When it arrived, I honestly thought the server gave me the wrong order. The selection was okay but there's literally ZERO culinary effort and thoughts putted into this sashimi platter. The table beside me with a $30 sashimi order looked more desirable than mine, ultimate disappointment.
      5. Chu toro, O toro, kanpachi, real crabmeat, hotate, uni, foie gras nigiris. Everything was fresh, tasty, and the rice was nicely seasoned and good firmness.
      6. The Moltan roll. Was informed out of caviar and if I am okay with a substitute ingredient. Told him okay as long as good, plus caviar is nothing new to me. Unfortunately the roll came out a mess in terms of everything. 1) it's your signature roll?!? 2) the roll is $100! 3) missing the caviar already 4) replacing caviar with a tiny chunk of foie gras is a bit insulting? Lol Therefore at least put some effort and make it counts? (Facepalm)
      7. Lobster rose pasta. It's decently okay, good amount of sauce and the lobster was tender and wasn't over cooked.

Overall, this is small little place, cozy in a way but definitely don't want the 2 tables at the end closes to the washrooms. The services here were okay and friendly from the staffs.
Unfortunately this time around, the food fell quite short especially when I ordered its supposedly best and most expensive items on the menu. It wasn't worth $500 for 2 ppl, have better and more consistent places for that amount of money.

Moltan is a quaint Japanese restaurant that serves fresh sashimi + unique rolls. Reservations are recommended as there are only limited seating area with about 5 tables. The ambience is cozy and casual.

Everything we ordered tasted great. We started off with the uni shooters - great combination of uni, ikura, and yuzu/soy sauce jello. Their rolls were also all amazing. You also have to order their sashimi, every single piece was so fresh that it melt in your mouth. Though the star of the dinner was actually the truffle risotto, perfectly creamy and "truffle-y".

Dinner came to about $500 for five including one sake and one asahi big boy. It was pretty worth it for the amount of food we had.
