Nero is the place to be in Vancouver for authentic waffles. We make waffles the way they do in Belgium. We use traditional methods to prepare our dough and batter. Imported equipment is used to bake your waffles the way they should be. To enjoy your waffles even better, we offer a nice selection of Belgian beers. For our coffee and tea program we have selected a local roaster and tea blender.

This was the first place we ate at when visiting Vancouver. The kids were absolutely delighted with their strawberry with whipped cream waffle. The waffle was light, airy and crispy, covered with strawberries and whipped cream. We asked for a scoop of ice cream on it and it was a tiny scoop. I would have been happy to pay more money for a normal / large scoop instead of the teeny scoop which looked a bit ridiculous served in a little plastic cup next to the mountain of whipped cream on top of the waffle. The savory waffles were ok but they were cold, a hot waffle option would have been great. The smoked salmon waffle looked beautiful but it was a bit heavy on the dill and sauce and as I mentioned, it was cold. I think it would have been greatly improved with a poached egg and some hollandaise sauce or creme fraiche with a tiny sprinkle of dill. The baked brie waffle was gorgeous and artistically presented. It was more delicious than the smoked salmon waffle, but it also a bit disappointing; sort of like a salad on a waffle with a slice of brie on it. I was expecting a gooey, melty, brie waffle. The cream filled mini waffle was insanely delicious, coffee was great, the atmosphere was very nicely designed. I would definitely eat here again and again but I would likely only order the sweet waffles.

I initially told my friend I wouldn't eat much of this, but once I tried a bite I couldn't stop!
It's big but surprisingly very light. We finished this rather quickly! The ice cream in the middle and whipped cream on the sides paired beautifully.
I don't even like desserts and I would recommend this!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 7, 20241 check-in
My husband and I stopped in here on a whim because we had just had dinner next door, so we wanted to pick up some waffles to have for dessert back at the hotel. It was a Monday at around 7 PM and there were quite a few people dining there. They have both sweet and savory waffles, or you can get some waffles to go. We didn't want to commit to a whole Belgian waffle and we saw they had mini waffles, so we went with that. They have various flavors but since it was the end of the day, they didn't really have any of the ones we wanted (i.e. the custard). We ended up getting the strawberry and a regular but after we paid, they said they didn't have regular either, so we were basically forced to pick a different flavor. We picked churro. The strawberry waffle was way too sweet, as expected, and both waffles tasted old. I wouldn't recommend getting the mini waffles, unless you're coming in the morning - maybe they make them fresh then?
If you're going to come later in the day, you should just opt for the Belgian waffle because it seems they make those fresh, continuously. But just based on the mini waffles, it was not a good experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 19, 20241 check-in
Upon walking up to the front, you're intrigued on what this is. As we were greeted snd seated, you first see waffles on display and you immediately grow hungry.
It's a small place but cute. They have these cubby holes for window seating. And they even have seating outside. Perfect to enjoy your waffle meal (or dessert) and the weather.
Upon looking at the menu you have to make a difficult decision because everything sounds wonderful. I was completely sold on the Tiramisu and it did not disappoint. The pictures in reviews looked big so we opted to share. After demolishing it, I knew I could eat a whole one myself but it was best that I didn't since we just had dinner.
Overall a great experience that was had by all. I would definitely return if I ever come out this way again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 2, 2024
Dessert as linch because why not? I got Brussels waffle with dame blanche topping ($16). I was craving a light crispy waffle that day and Nero certainly delivered. With that said, I felt underwhelmed with the chocolate sauce and flakes, felt like they came from supermarket quality chocolate. Also got pistachio mini liege waffles ($3.7), which I really enjoyed after air fryer reheat. Ambiance and service were both average.

We got the small waffles for to go.
I highly recommend their vanilla custard! The double chocolate was just okay. The rest are too sweet for my taste.
Best to eat it fresh, it is still chewy. If it gets cold, it's not that good anymore.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 31, 2024
We came here for brunch on a Saturday morning and the inside seating was quickly filled! Even though it was raining, they had a covered patio with lots of heating that we didn't even need to wear our jackets while sitting outside. We both got the brie waffle and thought it was well made. Great place to get together for liege waffles both savoury and sweet. I only wished I had more stomach space to try their sweet waffles as well!

I did not know waffles could be like THIS. They have sweet and savoury waffle creations on three types of waffles. The Belgian Waffles (we tried both the regular and buckwheat) and crispy, buttery, and airy. The liege waffles are rich, soft, dense and sugary. They are both heavenly and decadent (the buckwheat *feels* a bit healthier though, lol.
Had to wait about 30-40 minutes on a Sunday around noon-ish but their wait list is handy and we were able to camp at a nearby coffee shop.
Tried the:
Ham Benedict ($20) on a buckwheat Belgian waffle - the ham is prosciutto-like, eggs are small and slippery and nicely poached. The hollandaise is super fluffy.
Belgian Waffle ($6.5) with Whipped Cream ($3) and Maple Syrup ($3) - buttery and crispy, like so crispy when you cut it with a knife it shattters
Liege Waffle ($6.5) - Even by itself it was lovely.
Staff is Awesome! Limited seating indoor and outdoor.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - May 29, 2024
Staying here in Vancouver for a pre-night prior to a cruise and we chose the hotel Belmont. Across the street was near waffles. Upon arrival was a beautiful decadent display of flavored waffles. We were seated quickly and served our beverages of choice and then a full explanation of each of the menu items were delivered as we asked the food was exceptional. Everything was tasted fresh And hot and crunchy the texture the saltiness the savoriness of the salmon was just delicious. I highly recommend this place.

We had to wait to be seated for almost 45 minutes, but it was completely worth it! The salmon eggs Benedict was incredible, the house-made hollandaise sauce totally took it up a level. Smashed avo waffle was also delicious. We tried the chocolate crunch and vanilla creme waffles per our servers recommendation. They were super fluffy and sweet, but I wish that the vanilla creme would have been a bit more flavorful.
The inside of the restaurant was very cute and trendy, the food also was presented beautifully. Super friendly staff with great service, only complaint was that the bathrooms were pretty nasty. Overall, I would definitely return for their brunch!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
