An fantastic place for freshly made authentic Italian food

Pros - phenomenal selection of freshly homemade Italian pasta. The agnolotti was fantastic. Their focaccia bread was also so fluff and deliciously seasoned. Very friendly service. Beautiful interior with modern contemporary style.

      Cons - none!

A great place for an authentic Italian dinner.

Celebrated a friend's birthday here. Great service and enjoyed sitting at the bar.

We ordered the olives and steak tartare for appetizer. Both were well done nothing special.

We ordered the beet salad, which was nice and enjoyed the whipped ricotta on it.

The 2 pasta dishes we had were okay, the pork ragu was really salty but the pasta was perfectly al dente. The stuffed pasta didn't wow me.

The star of the meal was the tiramisu and complimentary ice cream.

Enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant and decor.

We went to Savio Volpe for a birthday celebration and decided to order the "Dine 'Alla Famiglia" $85 / person chefs tasting menu which comes with 5 courses and a dessert. The selling point of the chefs menu was that each menu would be curated based on the table and the waiter would ask each table some questions about their food preferences but we saw that the table next to us got most of the same items as us.

I would not recommend ordering this and instead order a la carte because the items we got for the price was not worth it. There were a lot of vegetable based/ vegetarian dishes like the arugula and heirloom tomato salad and the cappelletti with zucchini (both not pictured). After the 4th course which was the pasta (very small portion) , both of us were still very hungry. The only thing that was worth it was the pork chop and the complimentary gelato that we got for the birthday celebration which was delicious.

As for the atmosphere, the tables where we were sitting were very close together and you can hear the conversations beside us. The service was good but this was expected for a restaurant at this price point.

Overall, my first experience here was mediocre at best. It might have been better if we ordered a la carte which I am open to trying in the future but would definitely never order the chefs menu again.

We booked a table for dinner and opted for the tasting menu. This wasn't my first time here, and I definitely recommend the chef's tasting menu. It's even better with more people because there's more to try. Everything we had was delicious, and the ravioli was definitely the star of the show. It was a special on the menu and sold out pretty quickly while we were there. Servers were friendly and attentive, coming by often to check on us.

The only downside is that it's pretty crammed in there, especially the 2 people tables at the back, so everyone around you is listening in on your conversation and you're listening in to everyone else's conversations, too. It's a great restaurant, but I wish there was a little more space between seats for privacy and comfort.

      Limited street parking available.

Came here for a friend's birthday recently. The Carne Cruda was a very tasty version of steak tartare. The pasta dish that we tried was perfectly cooked and tasted pretty light.

The pork belly is cooked in their wood fired oven so the outside is a bit crispy and more dry while the inside is still tender. The Hokkaido scallops were so tender and flavourful with a very slight char!

For dessert, we had the Chocolate Espresso Tart and I loved how the saltiness balanced out the sweetness from the caramel. I like chocolate and this didn't feel overly heavy.

We saw so many people celebrating their birthdays here! The complimentary birthday gelato had small cake bits and a strong coconut flavour.

April 2024 update: very sadly and unfortunately downgrading savio volpe to 3 stars. I made a reservation for 5 people and opted for the tasting menu for my brothers birthday celebration. The server was impeccable but the actual food and timeliness was questionable.

Evening started great. Sparkling water and a bottle of red wine to start. 7:09pm, we get a beautiful plate of charcuterie, a deep fried pork appetizer and two bowls of kale salad promptly. Not bad and pretty good. Kale salad was a little bland - just tasted like salt but it was fine for salad.

That's when our experience soured. We waited ONE HOUR for the next round of food to arrive. This, to me, is unacceptable. We were starving and our server could only keep refilling our water ...

8:11pm rolls around. We get risotto and two bowls of pasta. Portions were quite small for 5 people and we waited an HOUR. The long swirly pasta dish with capers was just so mediocre and bland. The tagliatelle, however, was the star. The redeeming part of our dinner...

Now we wait again. 30 more minutes. Finally, main main entree at 8:40pm. Finally, steak, chicken, potatoes, broccolini. These all tasted good by the way, but at this point we were just miffed by the late timing.

And at last, dessert. We just wanted to leave at this point. 9:25pm, tiramisu and cannoli. Tasted great by the way. Loved the airiness and flavors.

Overall... I don't think I would do the tasting menu again. Quite disappointed. I would only order the tagliatelle and broccolini and call it an evening.

This restaurant has been a consistent 5 star dining experience for us since it opened. It provides the perfect balance between fine dining quality with a more casual atmosphere that works amazingly well when dining with our daughter. Over the years she has grown up eating at Savio Volpe and it is a family favourite for us. Thanks for the wonderful food, fantastic ambience, and super knowledgeable staff!

It had been a while since I came here so I booked in a reservation to celebrate my friend's birthday. Saturday reservations book up in advance so I ended up booking about 1.5 months in advance. Upon arrival at 5:00pm (the time they open) there was a line out the door so we ended up waiting a couple of minutes. It also took a couple of minutes for our server to come to our table likely because the restaurant was packed. By the time we ordered, we waited about 45 minutes until we got our food. Unfortunately, the food was served warm but not hot, and the meatballs were unfortunately still cold. Everything we ordered was very tasty though. They also brought a scoop of birthday cake ice cream for my friend which was super sweet.

Securing reservation in here require some dedication for sure, however it was worth it for the pasta alone. We got 4 items, plus a nice Sangiovese to share. Their menu changes seasonally so I won't be covering each dishes. I would say that the highlights are definitely the pasta and cheese based items. Also, kudos for their wine list, some of the best I've seen in Vancouver (particularly for Italian based ones ofc). Prices came out to over $100/pax.

      Things we ordered:
      1. Whipped ricotta crostini, concord grapes, caramelised honey, pine nuts, focaccia ($24)
      2. Tortelli di Zucca, parmigiano reggiano, pumpkin seeds, brown butter ($32)
      3. Tagliatelle alla bolognese, parmiggiano reggiano, Volpi olive oil ($34)
      4. Cannoli ($20)

Place was casual with pretty packed tables and loud conversations happening. Imo there's not enough distance between the tables. Atmosphere was therefore a bit too noisy imo but could be personal preference. Service was on point and the server gave good recommendation based on your preference without being pushy.

I had high expectations due to the raving reviews I read but my actual experience fell short. There was nothing terrible but overall things felt a bit off. I made a reservation for two in the dining room at 5pm and the confirmation mentioned that cancelling from 1pm onwards on the day I reserved would incur a fee of CAD$25 per person. Well, I did show up and they opened their door slightly after 5pm. It was nice that they have a coat room. There were many service crew members. Some I liked more than others but overall the vibes I got were a tad self-important and aloof. The kale salad was tasty and plentiful. I appreciate that the saffron pasta was freshly made with a rich sauce. For the price point though, I expected either bigger or more shrimps. This place is not a must visit in my view but feel free to try for yourself.
